I found Bob through yelp, and am so glad I did! My girlfriends and I had a weekend in Paso planned and didn't want the usual struggle of deciding who sits what out, and where; we figured it isn't worth the chance of being stupid after drinking wine and endangering ourselves or others. What a great choice! Bob showed up early both days we hired him. He is super friendly and accommodating; in contact before you arrive to get your plans and help you choose wineries if you're unfamiliar, or offering additional suggestions if you have a plan in mind! He brought snacks and water, a blessing since our group of 4 ladies was starving when we arrived and hadn't had a chance to stop at a grocery. He didn't mind loud conversation, occasionally minding the 3 dogs while we wandered or tasted, and amending his plans to fit our last minute requests. There are many different ways to explore the Paso wine country. While deciding on which option to chose, you should consider this about Designated Wine Driver: 1. If you have at least 2 people in your party, it is cheaper than any substitute out there (shuttle, limo, all inclusive bus rout, etc). 2. Bob's (the owner) hourly rate is 14% cheaper than his designated driver competitors, he does not charge a fee to pick up outside of Paso, and he does not have an hourly minimum. 3. You can tailor your specific trip however you like. If you have wineries in mind, Bob is more than happy to accommodate. On the other hand, if you leave it up to Bob, he will will not lead you wrong. Not gonna lie, I told my parents I would write this review a year ago :/. Better late than never! Our driver was Bob and he was THE BEST! He had an uncanny resemblance to my deceased grandfather and as the day progressed my mom got more and more vocal about how much she loved him :). He was prompt and even had snacks for us (totally unexpected). We are pretty open, but he did give us time to hang out as a family. He also knows most of the people at the wineries we went to. We had an AMAZING time in Paso Robles largely due to our experiences with this company. We had Jason for a driver two different days and could not have been happier! He had excellent knowledge of the area and every single place he took us was fantastic. Jason helped collect our purchases at each winery and he made sure they were safely stored in our car. We came up Valentine's Weekend with a group of friends. We had Michael drive us on Friday and he was AWESOME. We had a whole plan of wineries mapped that we thought we wanted to go to, and though he was completely willing to take us to these, he said that the way they are scattered throughout Paso would only allow us to honestly reach about 3 of them. We all basically threw our hands in the air and said lead the way! He was very knowledgeable and seemed to have really considered what drew us to our original list. So while we did go to 2 of the ones we listed, the ones we ended up at that he recommended were GREAT and perfect for our group. On top of that he takes pictures of your little adventure and got us the CD bright and early the next morning with all of the images. He also included bottled water, and a cute assortment of cheeses and crackers. He was extremely friendly but did not try to jump into the party (though we kept inviting him because he was great) He also spoke very highly of Beth and Bob (the other drivers) and gave us recommendations for the rest of our weekend. GREAT EXPERIENCE! P.S. We had a larger group Saturday and had reserved a limo. Simply stated - Bob (Designated Wine Driver) is absolutely the best choice anyone can make for a single or multi-day wine tasting getaway in the Paso Robles area. We discovered him on Yelp and touched base multiple times before our actual visit. Not only was he totally professional, but extremely personable. He's casual and relaxed and genuinely wants his clients to have a great time exploring the area and the wines. His rates are the best we found, and I doubt there's anyone else who knows the area and the winemakers better than Bob. The staff at nearly every winery we visited weren't only polite, but genuinely happy to see him. It's obvious that he is well-loved throughout the region, and for good reason. He's equally comfortable letting you dictate the stops and/or putting an itinerary together for you. If you already have stops in mind, he knows the best route to take so you don't waste time on the road, and he can fill in any gaps with little gems to stop at along your route. As others have mentioned, there's the added perk of the photo CD. Bob takes pictures throughout your experience, posed and candid, and puts them all on CD for you to remember your trip (and the wineries). He also brings a snack tray (cheeses, meats, crackers, etc) and cold bottles of water for everyone in the car. In the car, Bob has the perfect balance of professionalism and friendliness. He's a great driver, he's a great conversationalist, and has lived a pretty incredible life. We booked nearly a month in advance for a very special occasion. Bob canceled on us, 4 days beforehand- saying that our driver was "sick". This is an incredibly busy weekend for wine tasting with the influx of Napa wine tasters, and the Harvest Festival. No doubt, Bob bumped us in order to book someone else for more time. He knew that we we would have next-to-no chance of securing another driver with such late notice, and even if we did, there are now 5 hour minimums with every company for this busy weekend. I'm not much of a "Yelper" but I had to come on to Yelp to give some props to Bob Barker, our driver with Designated Wine Driver. Bob was straight up awesome. I emailed with Bob back and forth prior to our arrival in Paso Robles and he's very quick to reply to inquiries as well. I rented a car and wanted to get Bob added as an authorized driver and Bob even showed up a bit early so we could go down and get him signed up. We had a pretty planned out day but one of Bob's recommendations that he made over email was truly the highlight of the day and was the most unique wine tasting experience I've had to date. The entire group had an amazing and safe experience with Bob at the helm. Bob was a careful driver, always went out and pulled the car up with the A/C going when we were ready to leave (it was a VERY hot day) and was a wealth of knowledge as well as just an all around good guy. Bob had a snack pack for us that was pretty awesome. If you are lucky, he'll include some of his homemade mustard which is amazing.
