Ken is a very talented nail artist. I use to go to a nail salon in Logan Square but moved back to the burbs after I got married. I tried a bunch of places but they all didn't work out for me. one day I searched on yelp for another salon and came acrossed Designer Nail Spa. Decided to try this place and never looked back. I gave my wife a gift card for a Mani/Pedi. I ended up taking her there and stayed for the first 30 minutes. The staff was extremely friendly and didnt make feel akward. In fact they let me sit in one of massage chairs and enjoy a massage. Bottom line the facility was well maintained, had a friendly staff and the finished product (mani/pedi) exceeded expectations. Hair all over the floor, giant bugs in the corner of the pedicure chairs towards the back, dropped a tool on the ground and continued to use it without sanitizing it, the warm towel used on legs during pedicure was first used to wipe down the nail tech's seat and, had a very small selection of colors. The nail tech misplaced the color I wanted so I had to pick one I didn't really like. This was the only place open in the area. The 4.5 average review is very misleading!! If I was the one who drove to the establishment, I would've left right away. read more

Stay Away!! This place seemed creepy the moment I walked in. It looked dirty and hardly had any nail polish bottles. I had an appointment to go there for the first time and they seem very pushy right when I walked in. One lady sitting there with nothing to do, a man walking around in the back looking at his cell phone and then an old man kept insisting for me to sit down. I just got a REALLY bad vibe and there were no other customers and I didn't feel comfortable so I just left. When I drove away, they called my phone and I didn't answer then they sent a text that said, you come yeah sugar...EW! Sugar? Really?? That made me mad! They have no right to text ANY customers. I called them back and yelled at him and told him don't ever text my phone again and blocked number. Clearly would NEVER go back here again. read more

The owner is amazing and everyone here is super nice. I'm a city girl transplanted to the burbs and this is hands down the best place for pink/white. After getting tired of terrible customer experiences at another local salon, I called around a few places. When I called here, I talked to the owner for an appt. and she was very accommodating as I was looking to have a 'next gen' nail service like I had done in Dallas, TX. She offered pink/white as a comparable option and personally took care of me. I like my nails a certain way and she made 150% sure I loved them before I left. And I did LOVE them! It's like going to 'Cheers' where everyone knows your name and treats you like family. I've been a regular here for the last 4 months, and I don't see that changing...EVER. Thanks ladies! I went in there to get French tip coffin shaped nails with two nails sparkly. When I first walked in the guy asked what I wanted and I told him a full set. He directed me to a chair and a woman began to do my nails. I'm not usually picky or have anything bad to say about how my nails get done but when something is very obvious that needs to be fixed and I say something, I kinda want it fixed. As the woman began to file my nails she wasn't very gentle but I didn't really care. I showed her what I wanted and she said yes she can do it. I when she glued on the nails I noticed 2 were a little crooked and told her but she said she would fix it with a nail file( never got fixed). Also while she was filing the nails she was doing it so rough that she broke my pinkie nail and didn't even apologize. The end result was no where close to what I had originally wanted but I didn't want to start an argument so I just paid and left. Like I said I have never had a complaint before of where and how my nails were done and I've lived in 3 states in the past year but this one was just not very good. read more

I'd follow the new owner Tammy anywhere. I have been going to her for years. She does beautiful work, I get tons of compliments. When I get stuck for an idea she will gently make suggestions or come up with a fresh design. It sounds weird but she is a blessing. The shop is well set up, clean and a must go to. Horrible horrible horrible customer service! I went in on a sat afternoon and brought a girlfriend with to get no chip manis. I described the design in detail I wanted and the manicurist began. It was a simple silver nail with a small thin triangle in green coming up from the bottom. She did not do the design as described and reversed the colors. I was not happy with the alternative design but did not want plain silver nails so she did a quick simple line across the top edge of my nails. she either was not listening initially or did not understand the design so I asked that they not charge me the extra money. I immediately got attitude in very broken English so I asked to use a $5 off coupon I was given by ken during my last visit. I handed the coupon over with my credit card and when I got the receipt back I was charged for the design I didn't want AND they would not accept the coupon. Their reasoning was that I did not tell them ahead of time... They had the coupon before they charged my card! Needless to say that was my last visit. You do not blame the customer for your mistake bottom line. read more
