SPECTACULAR RESULTS!
We bought our home 3 years ago and was told the pool was refurbished. Soon after we moved in, the paint at the bottom of the pool started to peel, chip and break and we learned "refurbished" meant repainted. We searched for a more permanent solution.
We met Tom Sly of Desert Glass Pools, Inc. at the Palm Springs Home Show. He is quiet, timid and as threatening as a butterfly. He came out and gave us samples and an estimate. We waited 2-1/2 years to completely decide and secure the financing for the project. But oh my God, it worth the wait!
There were areas of the pool between tiles that could have been easily filled with grout. Instead, his men cut razor thin pieces of tile to fill in those spaces so the pool was even and consistent. The tile we chose to define steps turned out to be too light in color and not dark enough to contrast, so the guys refused to put it in until we all realized the problem avoiding our dissatisfaction down the road. They inspected every tile before it was laid down. Such amazing work.
Negative (if you want to call it that) is that Desert Glass Pools doesn't offer financing and that once you decide to move forward with the project, you'll have to wait your turn.
The cost was just slightly higher or about the same as other pool resurfacing methods such as Pebble Tec.
Positives are everything else! We wanted a pool that looks like a swimming pool (not a moat or a pond or hole-in-the-ground), but a beautiful, blue, sparkling swimming pool. Done! We wanted a low maintenance, permanent solution and alternative to painting. Done! We wanted something that would last..... It comes with a 10 year warrantee and guarantee, but are certain this will last as long as the house.
Tom Sly told us, "Think of the swimming pools at Hearst Castle. They are all done in glass tile and they are as beautiful today as they were they day they were installed." And now we feel that this is our very own private castle in the desert.
Highly, highly, highly recommend. read more
