Walked a couple dogs I was house sitting all around for 90 minutes. Framed by beautiful houses, this park had other dog walkers, people eating lunch and some reading books on the benches. The park has the basic obstacle course for kids, equipped with slides, swings ( only toddler swings), monkey bars, and a see-saw. Too bad the swings were only for toddlers;my niece and nephew are beyond that age lol. The palm trees were awesome just because they're palm trees. But given that it's Phoenix, most of the grass was brown. I happened to find an area that was shaded and had lush green grass. Overall the park was clean, free of debris, and the lawn is well kept. It's also walking distance from my family's home. While it doesn't measure up to Prospect Park or even Central Park, it gets the job done.

While there are attempts to provide shade in some areas, it's at weird angles lol the water fountain doesn't work. Other than those 2 things, we love this park. There's also a scouting activity area that looked interesting and seems to be for scouting troops to have campfires and outdoor activities. Technically there's also a hummingbird garden but unless you parked in a specific spot or know where to look, you'd miss it as its small and tucked in a far corner. While small, it is nice (aside from the pile of cigarette butts some jrrk left) with some nice plants, a short walking path, and a water feature. It has a lot of desert plants but I was surprised not to see more spring flowers this time of year. The park is nice and the water seemed clean and not smelly, but I wish we had more areas of denser vegetation like the hummingbird area to walk around in. It does seem pretty well kept up and I noticed several newer desert willows growing. At 8 am on a spring Sunday, it was busy with people walking, fishing, at the playground, and doing tai Chi, but parking wasn't an issue.

They have plenty of benches at each field, but they're uncovered so watch out for flying softballs! We almost got hit by one from the field behind us. Definitely bringing umbrellas for protection next time. We were there for a few hours, so I had to use the bathroom a couple of times. The first time, the stall I went into ran out of toilet paper, but someone had left a bunch in there from another stall. There was only one sink, and the faucet is the kind that you press then let go and it should run for a short time. But this faucet stopped as soon as you let go. Fortunately I always carry hand sanitizer with me. Later I had to use the restroom again, and only the same stall was available. This time there was zero toilet paper. The bathroom was not like in the worst condition ever, but they should at least make sure the bathroom is stocked with toilet paper, especially when they know a tournament or other sports event is scheduled that day.

There are separate areas for big dogs and smaller, more timid ones, but the area for the small dogs is still pretty spacious. The grass is well maintained, even in the dead of summer, and there are a handful of young trees offering a bit of shade. For a wide open area, it surprised me that there weren't more trees sprinkled about. There are only 3 benches for owners to relax while pups are goin wild, two of which are right at the park entrance. In my experience, not the best place to put benches because inevitably people and dogs tend to hang out there, which causes some commotion as dogs are trying to come in and out. There's a water spigot for you to refill water for your pups, but only one small metal bowl for everyone to share. I'd recommend bringing your own water dish, and I usually just bring my own water too. We'll likely be back, as it's probably one of the nicer and bigger parks in this part of the valley.
