I was pleasantly surprised by this park! It was very nice and clean, lots of paths to take. There were a lot of different areas to the park too, one area had old antique buildings and farming equipment while another area was an orchard/garden. The grilling setup was probably the nicest I've ever seen for a public park. There were probably 20-30 individual picnic table areas each with their own grill. They also had a covered area with even bigger grills. There were even peacocks walking around! Numerous baseball/softball fields, as well as playground equipment. This park has been my go-to favorite since my childhood days! It boasts a delightful park area with available ramadas for rental and uncovered tables for everyone to use. This is one of the most disappointing historic parks I have ever been to. The buildings are run down and locked, one cannot tour inside the buildings, and looking through the plexiglass is hard because it's been allowed to age beyond functionality. (The bathroom was also pretty gross.) The grounds are nice but again not well cared for. I understand something like this takes a great deal of money for upkeep. So? Hire a development director, get the money raised and the work done. It's a nice enough park but the historic ranch house is a massive disappointment. read more

I like this park a lot. the main attractions are peacocks and roses - both in season. The peacocks belong to the habitat in the park. I was there today. I was surprised that the peacocks did not look healthy. They did not have their long feathers. even more surprising, I had a feeling that they were either underfed or not fed at all. They were gathering near any car that would come into the parking lot of Glendale public library, which is right next to the park. When I was returning to my car, I saw a peacock with a slice of bread in his beak, and other peacocks were running toward him, probably a group of 20-30 peacocks. They dispersed shortly. As was walking toward them, one peacock kept coming toward me, looking at me with expectations. Earlier when I got out of the car, another Peacock stood there, looking at me, waiting for something. I am very concerned that they may not be getting enough food. I have been visiting this park and the library for 4 years, about 5-6 times a year. This behavior of the peacocks seemed very unusual. Sahuaro Ranch Park is such a gem of a park. Nestled in Glendale, Sahuaro Ranch Park transports visitors to the Glendale of yesteryear. Be sure to visit the historic district. The buildings work well for photo backdrops. A mural with mountains, aloe, roses, and peacocks also makes a nice background. The peacocks on the mural are a nod to the peacocks that roam the grounds. Mature fruit trees about the park. The citrus trees are another throwback to the days when the park was a ranch. There are also palm and other trees. A grassy area near the buildings makes a lovely spot for picnics. The area feels lusher than a typical desert park. More than a historical park. This has many amenities found at other community parks. There is a playground, dog park and sports complex. I have never visited the dog park or sports complex, so I'm not sure about their conditions. Ample parking. Several parking lots are around the park. Sahuaro Ranch Park, City of Glendale is gorgeous! It is a great place for a quick walk, a lunch break or a wonderful backdrop for family outing. I love the variety of animals that you can enjoy here from the peacocks, guinea fowl, feral cats and rabbits. Many of them can be viewed best during crepuscular times (dusk and dawn). There are a number of buildings that have been preserved for those who want to glimpse down Arizona's pioneer and agricultural past. They have farm equipment. Off to one side is the Glendale Public Library Main Campus. On the other side towards the back is a picnic pavilion, a several large barbecue pits and a large play area for kids. During a field trip, my class enjoyed our lunch break at this location. Visit this Glendale gem! read more

We came to this park to get some much needed updated family photos and there is truly 1,000 areas to use for photos and best part is no cost. I plan to come back to this park it was really beautiful with flowers and rose bushes all around, plenty of seating and trees, bridges, water. Best part.... Peacocks walking around!! read more

The historic buildings and trees were a nice back drop to an otherwise average well kept public park. Did not see any peacocks roaming around as the website claims. Good place to to bring little ones to run free. If you have a teenager like mine who's not big on the selfie game this isn't the place for them. Visited around noon-thirty. read more

A big slice of the great outdoors, sandwiched between suburbia and the local college! Bring kids, bring family, bring a large group of athletic friends. Saguaro is where FUN happens. -A dog park with lots of running room -Lots of places to play sports, including at least two soccer fields -A vast playground for kids -Several sand volleyball courts -A huge, I mean HUGE area to barbecue. -Citrus grove to gawk at historical sites or chill out under some very old orange trees. -A cactus garden. I don't understand the significance of this, it's just a peaceful, special place to me. Yes, I too miss the abundance of peacocks. They do still pay a visit from time to time! I love this park! There's so much to do and see here but for our family we mostly focus on the playgrounds. They have two playgrounds, a mulch and sand one. We personally prefer the mulch playground because no one likes sand in their shoes and socks. The mulch playground also has a smaller area for toddlers. It's a very updated playground with lots of ropes and climbing structures. I'm only knocking one star off for the bathrooms. The bathrooms are the most unkept I've seen. Definitely go before you come or make the trip to the library to use their bathrooms. read more

WOW this place is one of the coolest time warps around! I can't believe I never knew about it! As Norm R. said, this is part of William Bartlett's ranch dating back to 1886 with many original restored structures, some are brick and wood and one is stucco, and they all have that wonderful weathered old look to them that just makes you wonder "if these walls could speak, what stories would they tell?" You can peek inside the buildings and see the furniture, tools and stuff they used during the pioneer days and get a sense of what life was like in Old West Arizona. You can also wander around the property and look at and even touch (but no climbing please!) lots of cool rusty old farm machinery, wagons and equipment, and wonder about what it was used for. I also saw: a blacksmith shop, a reproduction of a well building that would have been used in the 1920's, something that looked like a locomotive engine, a dairy barn, a cornfield, a citrus orchard, grapevines, a rose garden, peacocks, rooster chasing a hen, the cutest white bunny I've ever seen in my life, and 7 beautiful princesses in ball gowns and tiaras posing for quincenera pictures. All around the property are educational signs with info and photos about the original ranch and what life was like from the 1890's thru the 1930's (when the ranch was at the peak of production). I didn't get a chance to take a tour, but I think that would be an excellent idea! The website says that tours are held Thursdays thru Saturdays, 10 AM - 2 PM, and Sundays 1 - 4 PM. I saw a sign that says you can even rent parts of the property for special events. (I gotta save up for a major shindig now!) It's the perfect spot for an afternoon stroll when it isn't unbearably hot, and there are tons of park benches where you can just rest and relax. If you have kids they will be super happy to see all the cool stuff and run around after the peacocks. Just don't let them climb all over everything or lose them in the cornfield, and you'll be good. So, so glad this wonderful slice of Glendale's history has been preserved. And admission is FREE! read more

This park has two main areas. There is a clean, well-maintained general recreational area with spacious lawns and picnic/dining pavilions, as well as an area with large grills and food prep tables. There is also the historic area which used to be the well-irrigated working farm that William Bartlett built in 1886. Many of the original structures are still there - the beautiful main house and guest house, the fruit packing shed, the dairy barn, and other buildings, all well-maintained and/or restored. These are surrounded by orchard and garden areas, and it is truly a pleasure to stroll around the grounds and appreciate this trip of a more than century back in Glendale's history. read more

I have been coming to this park for 10 years. Since then they've added a reserved field for soccer and a newer play area. The ranch part is well maintained and beautiful. It has been pretty active lately because of Pokemon Go. There are plenty of Pokestops nearby. read more

This is a really beautiful park with the perfect blend of amenities. There are tons of BBQ grills - some under ramadas, some under shaded trees with large grassy areas to spread out. They have playgrounds, sand volleyball, softball fields, dog park, soccer fields and the coolest part is that it's rich with Arizona history back to the 1800's. I've been coming here as a child, my 7th birthday party was here and I've been to a lot of family members party's at this park, it's always a great time. read more

Really liked the park area. I was surprised to see how much space there was to do things, even the kiddo had plenty of things to play on. They need to fix one of the jungle gym items as it is just a bolted down safety cone though. I was there on a winter visit, but I could imagine how crazy this place must be during spring or summer. read more

This is my favorite park. It's close to my home and a great place for family gatherings and children/adults playing. There is a rude African American female park ranger. She is a racist and always go after middle eastern(Muslims) and kick them out of the covered area in the park while it's not reserved. I have seen this twice, today and a few weeks ago. The authorities need to stop her from this shameful act. read more

Some areas aren't as well light as they should but I guess the park technically closed at 6. 2 nice play areas for the little ones. Swings, slides and plenty more. Have been on the main house tour many times here & it is wonderful, the home is beautifully done, and the guides very knowledgeable. We only wish all the buildings were open for tours at the same time. In all our visits we've yet to be there when there is access to the smaller homes on the property or even the one adjoining the main house. The rose garden is amazing & definitely worth the visit in April through December. The park around the ranch is huge, many pigeons, cute bunnies & the gorgeous peacocks. You can't beat the free admission to enjoy & tour this historic spot. read more
