Encanto Park

We like Encanto Park. I like the Enchanted Island. I remember the 1940's-era rides now long gone. Between 1930 and 1942 our nation was in the grip of the most serious economic downturn in decades. Twenty percent of workers had no jobs. There was very little cash. The government poured funds into training and Public Works programs. Encanto Park was one Phoenix Project. It has hosted humans and migratory birds for 90 years. Good job Civic Leaders With Public vision. Thank you. We walk here when it is cooler. We bring some wild bird seed. We have the Duck Duck Goose....pigeon fan club.

this park is amazing, too many ducks they're friendly just don't give themt too much food because they will come and fight each other. too many trash cans which i like. many chairs to sit and rest on. it's a good place to unwind and relax. they also have a playground, enchanted park and sports complex.

Very nice older park. Older but pretty well maintained. The grounds are nice and the bathrooms were pretty clean.

This park is large and has lots of offerings. Amazing sports complex with basketball, sand volleyball, tennis, pickleball and pool. There is also a 3 par golf course and a large park area. I mostly come here for pickleball. Overall the courts are nice but get very crowded Monday-Friday from about 6pm-9pm. Often you are waiting more than playing. They need expansion of pickleball area and some general updates but overall has lots of things to do in a central Phoenix location. Also sunsets are nice here with the palm trees.

All I can say is wow!!! This park is truly amazing. It has everything....and I mean everything. This place is massive, spanning over 220 acres and has two parts. It was created in 1934, but looks relatively new and updated. The park has tons of free parking available between a couple of lots. On one side of the park you will find an awesome sports complex with 8 tennis courts, 4 full basketball courts, two sand volleyball courts, 4 pickle ball courts, two cement volleyball courts, a golf course, and a seasonal pool. The facilities over there are are very nice and many places would charge admission to play on similar quality courts. This side of the park also has a playground area that has a wall around it to keep the little ones in and is on a bed of wood chips. There is not much equipment over there. It only has a frog to climb on and a jungle gym with slides, bridges and monkey bars. The equipment appears to have been around for a while, but is well maintained. There is another playground area over here as well, for older kids. This area has a bank on traditional/toddler swings, a track ride, and rock structures and ropes to climb on. This equipment is a little vintage, like in the other playground area, but still in great shape. There is also a lighted multi use field with a. backstop and a whole lot of green space that can be used for a game of catch, playing football, soccer, having a picnic or flying a kite. There are also some picnic tables sprinkled in over the vast space. You will also an outdoor workout area out there with equipment that include a chest/shoulder press and an elliptical machine. The other half of the park is more for the nature lovers. Here is where you will find its marvelous lagoon. It is very picturesque with bridges and ducks and allows opportunity to fish. Over on this side there is another playground area with a large jungle gym with a bunch of slides, a bridge, and monkey bars. I liked the area's picnic tables on the cement slab with the grills right next to them. There are also two shelters with picnic tables under them and grills just outside. The Park has an area called a Garden of Dreams, an area created by student from the Leadership Alliance Program and is a shaded, cleared out space with rocks and picnic tables. A large portion of this side of the park is Enchanted Island, an amusement park with rides, games, concessions, and a miniature train ride. It was closed when I was there, but looked nice. Both sides of the park has restroom facilities and trails to hike, walk or jog. They are easily navigated and clear. All in all this park is the total package. You can easily spend a half a day here. They have set the bar of what a park should be. It is well maintained and landscaped. which I can only imagine what it takes to upkeep it given its size. This is a destination park by far and I highly recommend checking this place out.

This park- although often packed is beautiful! It has so many fun options for kids and parents to enjoy. The specific reason I was here is for a photo shoot! It was a perfect location! You will really enjoy this park- it's extremely far from me but great park whatsoever!

This is a beautiful park. I came here on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't super busy, but there was a handful of people enjoying the outdoors and some people fishing. The park is clean and well maintained. There are lots of ducks. You can also rent paddle boats which seems like a fun date or family time idea. There are lots of little bridges and waterfalls. Also plenty of benches and tables spread throughout the park. There is also quite a bit of shaded areas as well. I will definitely be back!

Beautiful park. This is my second time around living in Central Phoenix and had never been to this park so decided to go for a Sunday walk today. Beautiful scenery, plenty of parking, park offers paddle boat rentals, there is a community pool and I even discovered an outdoor fitness area where they have a couple of pieces of equipment where you can work out. Lots of walkway bridges and little areas of waterfalls to provide pure tranquility. Perfect outdoor space to just get away and soak in the sun!

We visited this park on a Sunday morning before it got too hot. The layout and landscaping (for some reason) reminded me of various parks around L.A. that I visited in early childhood - the ponds and waterways, the tall palms, etc. A sign said it opened in the 1930s so certainly it could have been laid out by the same landscape archtect who did some work in SoCal...? The park covers a large area, so we parked in a central lot. We wandered through an 'island' surrounded by a sort of canal. There were also sub-islands set aside for birds, apparently. We also walked by large grassy areas, one of which was in use for some sort of weekend 'health fest'. It looked like these might also serve as ballfields at other times. There is a large pond / lake at one end where people were fishing and they had really garish paddle boats for rent (after noon). There is also some sort of small amusement park aimed at young kids. It was not open and our kid is almost 2 decades beyond their target demotraphic, so I have nothing to report there. Across from where we parked, there appeared to be more soccer-type fields, a large pool, and possibly some tennis courts. We were mostly here to get a bit of exercise before heading to a museum that opened at 10 a.m. Depending on what you are looking for, this is a nice spot to visit.

The landscaping and water features are really nice here but the park maintenance could be better. Cool to watch the ducks and swans but there were tons and tons of birds everywhere and, in turn, tons and tons of poop. It's all over everything so you can't really utilize benches because they are just covered in poop. Sidewalks covered in poop. And the whole park just smells like poop. It's a pretty small park so you can't really spend too much time there. Just ok.

What a beautiful, picturesque oasis in downtown Phoenix! I was complaining about the new location chosen by my daughter and friends for pictures on Prom Night. We pulled in a magnificent entrance off 15th Avenue. There were families everywhere barbecuing. There are two parking lots. We were instructed to drive to the back lot. As we pulled up, I was overwhelmed by the pond/lake with an island in the middle. Waterfowl swam serenely and it was not crowded at all, making it easy to snap our pictures to our hearts' content. It is a great place to a go for a walk! I will be back with my tennis shoes.

Really pretty park in the middle of Phoenix. The club house is set up like an old Spanish mission and has terrific views out back.

I'd give the cleanliness and overall park quality a 10/10. There's something for all ages, and it's easy to spend a whole afternoon there. The train is definitely cute and fun for kids, but it's a bit overpriced at $5 per ticket, even for a one-year-old. Unfortunately, our experience with the train staff really took away from it. The woman taking tickets was extremely rude and didn't speak to us at all -- no hello, no eye contact, no thank you, nothing. It honestly felt like she didn't want to be there or interact with families. I was trying to make it a fun moment for my child by having them hand over the ticket, but they actually got scared and hid behind me. The woman selling the tickets, on the other hand, was very kind and welcoming. The park itself can also get very crowded, and we noticed older kids sometimes take over the younger kids' play areas, which can make it hard for little ones when there's roughhousing or inappropriate language. That's not really the park's fault, but it's something to be aware of if you have small children. Overall, it's definitely worth visiting at least once because it's a beautiful space with tons to do. I personally prefer smaller neighborhood parks for a calmer experience, but Anthem Community Park is great in terms of facilities. The biggest areas for improvement would be crowd management in the play areas and better, more family-friendly staffing for the train.

The ducks in the water are refreshing to watch and one can walk the park and enjoy the serenity and peace. It's a nice spot for a picnic and other kids sports events. There is also a train ride for kids that costs $5 I believe.
