In 2020 thanks to the Fiesta Bowl committee, the children's playground was upgraded to the cute big metal animal structures that it is now. Kids can climb and slide inside an owl, rabbit and fox. They can dig in the covered white sand pit, crawl along the spiderweb ropes, and run and climb up the rock wall. It's a cute, bright area, and my kids get excited to go to "the animal park" every time we're Downtown. I've witnessed many cool events in this park from film crews, yoga groups, protest marches, festivals and concerts. Events and festivals for the Super bowl and NCAA final four have been held here. There's plenty of space to lie around to relax or set up for a picnic. Nearby, there is the Japanse Friendship Garden and lots of coffee and restaurants. We were here earlier today for our little one to enjoy the park and run around. The playground here is very playful with giant structures to climb and around. There was also a small rock climbing wall for bigger kids to enjoy. There is plenty of parking, everyone keeps to themselves, and a doggy park not too far away! I highly recommend for everyone looking for a nice spot to relax and chill.

The walking path is gorgeous, and they added in nice bathrooms and handwashing stations! I love the addition of the pickleball courts (and of course tennis!). There's plenty of playground equipment for kids. 4 slides, a few swing are among other activities. There's a good size field too for children's birthday parties. We rode by a few months ago and discovered that they had installed all new play structures and some great shades! My kids hounded me incessantly about returning so we could play and test everything out. We showed up the other night and they got a chance to try it. They gave it an enthusiastic thumbs-up! There are enough climbing bars to satisfy even the pickiest kid, and there are swings for the non-climbers in the family. There's also a full-size basketball court, with a decent playing surface and hoops that are still in good shape. There are garbage and recycling cans next to the playground and court. The only unfortunate thing is that there is no drinking fountain and no restroom facilities. Make sure to bring plenty of water and a strong bladder to hold it in!

You have a number of paved walkways zigzagging through some very nice landscaping with lots of palm trees, an island and a bunch of picnic tables, and crossing over a number of canals and lakes. A big parking lot makes for easy access too.

It's nestled between some apartments, some lower income, housing, and one of S R P, electrical companies facilities. Although the neighborhood is some low income housing, and very rarely someone who may be transient has been there. We have always had a great time and made new friends, and on the weekends there are usually family parties. They just replaced the bathrooms and the splash pad.

As far as the field goes, the quality was fine. It was well lit and there was enough grass to make it not feel like concrete. I was even able to wear cleats, something I've avoided for a while as the last time I wore cleats on hard ground, I came away with an ankle injury that nagged me for over a year and change. The big drag on this place is the overall atmosphere. The surrounding neighborhood and general populace you will encounter here gives it a vibe that I was not particularly fond of. It felt like I was in the back alley of town where all the drug deals go down, and in all likelihood, some probably did go down while we were busy playing kickball. I'd recommend coming here in the daytime as I would feel a lot safer.

Last night, I accidentally dropped my AirPod (the left one) on the fields and could ot find it. Today morning (July 8, 2026), I drove there and asked the ground staff, if they found it or if, someone turned it in. A ground maintenence staff, Ms. Josephine, came to me and showed me, where I should look. Then, she drove a cart herself to go look for it!! AND, she found my AirPod...! Thank you, Ms. Josephine!
