Here's why: After moving to a different area we uprooted our girls from DB Gymnastics to a different competing gym. My girls now 7 & 5 yrs old couldn't even do a back handspring and little one couldn't even do a back walkover. The new competing gym had my girls doing these moves in less than 2 months proficiently for my oldest and 6 months for my little one. The new gym begins working on these moves at a much earlier age than DB gymnastics. I also noticed the difference in coaching between the two gyms. DB was good but obviously not nearly as hands-on as new gym. Overall, our family had a good experience with DB Gymnastics but after comparison my girls could've gotten a lot more out of it.

Since parents have to sit behind a window, we can help direct our kiddo. Either shorten the class sizes, have more "coaches" with the younger ones, or allow a parent-tot class where parents can help guide their kid.

Her decision had nothing to do with the coaches at Carter's or her experience at Carter's Gymnastics Academy. In fact, for a short time we sent her to Gold Medal Gymnastics. Her skills quickly deteriorated. She went from being a state champion to barely being able to do basic skills that she found easy at Carter's. The technique she was taught at Gold Medal messed her up. She begged to go back to Carter's. Within a few months she went from being out of shape at Gold Medal to getting 3rd at Westerns. She was in first the entire time until she wobbled on the beam. Thanks to Jack Carter for taking the time to get her back in shape and ready for competition. Jack knows what he is going. He is an amazing coach. I don't know what the person in the other review is talking about when saying Jack slaps girl's butts. Jack has never once touched any girl inappropriately. He is extremely professional. He is the first to have spoken up against the abuse that was happening in USA Gymnastics. He demanded for more parental involvement. He does yell, which I do not necessarily agree with, but no one seems to complain when coaches are yelling at football players. It takes a lot of mental toughness to be an elite gymnast. The gymnasts at Carters are in better shape and have better technique than any other gymnasts they compete against. As for Jack talking about bodies - he is a gymnastics coach. He never makes comments about the girls sexually in any capacity. He wants them to be in shape. If they are out of shape then they get injured easier and are not able to do the skills they are being taught. If any of the coaches at Carters was inappropriate I would have pulled my daughter out of that gym so fast if he was in any way inappropriate. I coached for the Carters for about two years. I never heard or saw them do anything inappropriate to any of the gymnasts. They are extremely strict about safety of the gymnasts, both mentally and physically. As for what the other person said about Jack living off a reputation from years ago - I don't think that person understands that to have even one gymnast go to the Olympics is HUGE! Most coaches will never have an Olympian. Carter's Gymnastics Academy focuses on the individual gymnast. At other gymnastics centers there are a million and two (it seems) kids on the teams. It is all about money. The more kids they have then the more money they make. Carter's cares more about making the gymnasts top level gymnasts. They are extremely picky about moving a child up a level. They want the gymnast to be completely prepared and ready. I cringed watching other gyms compete. It was obvious their gymnasts were not ready to compete at that particular level. They would have 15-20 girls competing at a certain level and they had maybe two of those girls that looked great. At Carters there may be less girls competing, but every single gymnast looks prepared, in shape, and fantastic! Not only are the gymnasts at Carters amazing competitors in sports, but most all of their top level gymnasts are academically amazing also. Most every gymnast at Carters could get a scholarship for their academics, not just gymnastics. My daughter is a true competitor, thanks to Carters Gymnastics Academy. She can take anything because she went to Carters.

I understand (and appreciate) a family run business, if it is well run. I personally found the office staff (the wife/owner in particular) to be less than accommodating. Interactions and responses to inquiries regarding my children's classes were answered with attitude, as though she was doing me a favor by having availability when they did. The gym was closed frequently and classes cancelled whenever they had a family vacation. In just a few months there were at least 3 weekends one of my children was unable to attend class because it happened to be on a Saturday, when they most commonly would travel. That is not good business practice, a business should not close because you go on vacation. That is why you employee and train competent staff to back you up should you go on vacation. My other concern with the gym was its level of cleanliness. The sitting area for parents was gross, the floor was disgusting every week, the chairs were all old with rips and tears as though they'd been acquired from the bar next door after it closed down. The bathroom trashes were always full (even at 9 AM weekend classes when it was the very first set of classes for the day). I will give it 3 stars because my children enjoyed their coaches and had fun during class. Pricing was decent.

They're always encouraging and looking for ways to help her feel confident and succeed. My daughter also enjoys the summer and winter break camps. They are structured with cheer lessons in the beginning, lunch, drawing activities, and then free time with a fun bounce house. They also get to watch a movie in the afternoon which is a really nice break for my daughter. The coaches are responsive to any issues with the girls. I loved the story time implemented into every class, and how active they are with the students and their families outside of class (they have weekly events that are fun, engaging, and creative!) **The only issues are as follows**: - The deposit when enrolling/signing up after the promo is $399.00. - The monthly fee is $199.00. - The classes are only 30 minutes each and I believe they can only go to two classes a week.. 1 hour of classes a week for $199.00 a month is not ideal. - Testing. What Impressed Me The Most: From the very first interaction with Mr. Pederson (Karate Instructor), I was impressed. He was energetic, excited, knowledgeable, friendly, and overall a great teacher/mentor and role model for our boys. He also really understood his curriculum and taught it well. Structure: We want our kids to have an amazing time, be happy and excited to come to class but we also want them to learn valuable life lessons. They teach Karate but also the basics of building a strong character. Respect, teamwork, hard work, stewardship, confidence, and they teach the class in a way where the kids also have a wonderful and fun time. If you are looking for a "Boarding School" type Karate class (super strict), this is not the place for you. This place is great for kids having fun, learning a lot, enjoying building their self confidence, building relationships, learning karate, growing their inner-character, learning to be disciplined, working hard, and making friends. Price: You pay for what you get at this place. Are they a little on the "pricier" side, maybe... It depends on how you look at it. Before coming to Victory Martial Arts, our boys were taking Karate lessons at another place in Val Vista Lakes where they did not receive as much direction, guidance, encouragement, and the curriculum was not as solid. The other place was cheaper though.... It was nothing compared to Victory Martial Arts. It is well worth the price!!! Atmosphere: Fun. Great music. Energetic. Inviting. Class Size: It depends on what days/times you sign up for. We come on Mon, Wed, and Fridays. During these days, the max class sizes we have seen is around 10-30 which is perfect.
