Here's why: After moving to a different area we uprooted our girls from DB Gymnastics to a different competing gym. My girls now 7 & 5 yrs old couldn't even do a back handspring and little one couldn't even do a back walkover. The new competing gym had my girls doing these moves in less than 2 months proficiently for my oldest and 6 months for my little one. The new gym begins working on these moves at a much earlier age than DB gymnastics. I also noticed the difference in coaching between the two gyms. DB was good but obviously not nearly as hands-on as new gym. Overall, our family had a good experience with DB Gymnastics but after comparison my girls could've gotten a lot more out of it.

Since parents have to sit behind a window, we can help direct our kiddo. I finally had to get onto the coaches (if you would call them that. they are high school kids) about giving more guidance to my three year old. Even after that, nothing changed. Either shorten the class sizes, have more "coaches" with the younger ones, or allow a parent-tot class where parents can help guide their kid.

My daughter was training level 10 at Carter's Gymnastics Academy when she decided she no longer…read morewanted to be a competitive gymnast. Her decision had nothing to do with the coaches at Carter's or her experience at Carter's Gymnastics Academy. In fact, for a short time we sent her to Gold Medal Gymnastics. Her skills quickly deteriorated. She went from being a state champion to barely being able to do basic skills that she found easy at Carter's. The technique she was taught at Gold Medal messed her up. She begged to go back to Carter's. Within a few months she went from being out of shape at Gold Medal to getting 3rd at Westerns. She was in first the entire time until she wobbled on the beam. Thanks to Jack Carter for taking the time to get her back in shape and ready for competition. Jack knows what he is going. He is an amazing coach. I don't know what the person in the other review is talking about when saying Jack slaps girl's butts. Jack has never once touched any girl inappropriately. He is extremely professional. He is the first to have spoken up against the abuse that was happening in USA Gymnastics. He demanded for more parental involvement. He does yell, which I do not necessarily agree with, but no one seems to complain when coaches are yelling at football players. It takes a lot of mental toughness to be an elite gymnast. The gymnasts at Carters are in better shape and have better technique than any other gymnasts they compete against. As for Jack talking about bodies - he is a gymnastics coach. He never makes comments about the girls sexually in any capacity. He wants them to be in shape. If they are out of shape then they get injured easier and are not able to do the skills they are being taught. If any of the coaches at Carters was inappropriate I would have pulled my daughter out of that gym so fast if he was in any way inappropriate. I coached for the Carters for about two years. I never heard or saw them do anything inappropriate to any of the gymnasts. They are extremely strict about safety of the gymnasts, both mentally and physically. As for what the other person said about Jack living off a reputation from years ago - I don't think that person understands that to have even one gymnast go to the Olympics is HUGE! Most coaches will never have an Olympian. Carter's Gymnastics Academy focuses on the individual gymnast. At other gymnastics centers there are a million and two (it seems) kids on the teams. It is all about money. The more kids they have then the more money they make. Carter's cares more about making the gymnasts top level gymnasts. They are extremely picky about moving a child up a level. They want the gymnast to be completely prepared and ready. I cringed watching other gyms compete. It was obvious their gymnasts were not ready to compete at that particular level. They would have 15-20 girls competing at a certain level and they had maybe two of those girls that looked great. At Carters there may be less girls competing, but every single gymnast looks prepared, in shape, and fantastic! Not only are the gymnasts at Carters amazing competitors in sports, but most all of their top level gymnasts are academically amazing also. Most every gymnast at Carters could get a scholarship for their academics, not just gymnastics. My daughter is a true competitor, thanks to Carters Gymnastics Academy. She can take anything because she went to Carters.

You can see the big kids in the back doing all their spins on the un even bars, backflips on the mats and twirls on the high beam. Made me realize oh this is a legit gymnastics school.Lols I've spoken to the owner Kristin a few times and she's very nice, she is also one of the coaches for the classes. It's been almost two months and my 6 year old still loves her gymnastics class. Her coach Christina is great and supportive. We came to Aspire Kids from another gym because my son didn't like that there were no other boys in his classes. My son started in the Mighty Mites program at age 5, and after a year moved into competitive gymnastics. He has competed for 3 years now with the Junior SunDevils, and we couldn't be more pleased with his training and coaches. During COVID lockdowns, we were offered free Zoom training, and we were able to schedule virtual private lessons for my son to continue to progress. Switching to training in the day group this past year has improved my son's training and competition experience and outcome even more. The one aspect I have enjoyed as a parent with Jr SunDevils is the rapport and support among athletes and families. I have heard of a lot of drama in other sports or gyms, and not having to deal with that has been great. Parent support is great, and I have enjoyed getting to know other team families.
