    An amazing, eclectic restaurant that exudes whimsy and fun! Seriously, a ping pong table in the middle of the restaurant? Derrière is located behind storefronts and is accessed via an alley which opens into a small courtyard. You enter the restaurant and immediately pass a motorcycle as you walk to the hostess stand. The food is excellent and strictly French. Service is good, yet they are very busy and don't take time to converse. It is obvious that Derrière is a place that groups of friends come for a fun evening of drinks, laughter, and food.

    The Quick: Trendy, sexy vibe, delicious food, and a fun experience. The brunch was incredible. The Details: besides this place being an Instagram dream, and being outrageously trendy, the food was excellent! The brunch is this amazing Buffet - they keep restocking the food so everything seems very clean and fresh. So many fruit and vegetables options, which I found pretty rare in Paris. We sat outside, where all the chairs and tables mixed matched in a Whimsical way, but the inside was incredible! Make sure you explore because each room is different and mischievous and somewhat sexual, yet I did see a father and his child and it didn't seem bizarre to have kids here either... Very French. The Details: A bit pricing for brunch, but we definitely got our money's worth and I would absolutely return.

    We found this place online and made reservations mainly because it was so close to our hotel. The seating in mainly in a small garden and the tables are crowded. Staff were friendly but the food did take forever, possibly because it was their first night open after August break. We came here at the end of our 3 week trip feeling exhausted and pretty disappointed overall with the food in Paris. It turned out to be the best meal we had in the city and tied with the Tours restart and for best restaurant in France. I got onion soup, mussels, and escargot. The onion soup was lovely and I liked the cheese they used a lot. My friend did complain though that it came out Luke-warm- probably because not enough staff. I don't like my food super hot so I was fine with it. The escargot were the best we had de-shelled. I have no idea what they used for the sauce but it was amazing! We had tons of mussels in France but this one was by far the best. Again, no idea what they put in the broth but it was so good you could just drink it. If we weren't leaving, I would have come back the next day to eat there again and the other dishes. Highly recommend this restaurant but reservations are a must.

    I loved the vibe at this restaurant, very artsy and engaging. The food was also great. I did the lunch deal, which includes an appetizer and an entree for 25 euro. If I had more time in Paris, I would have gone again for dinner and walked around the restaurant more to take in more of the interior design. I am giving it 4 stars, because I thought the service could be faster. It took some time to get my order and I was in a rush.

    This is an incredible beautiful space with food that has amazing flavors. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was giving me vibes of Ted Baker store. Definitely a must go restaurant.

    There are certain places that are just memorable from beginning to end and Derrière was it. From the ambiance to the service and obviously the food, this was an extremely special place. Obviously it's an insta dream at Derrière but please appreciate this place for its yummy food and drink. It's combination of creativity and tradition all in one. We started with the cheese plate and fois grois. Both beautifully composed and delicious flavors. The cheese selection was a blue, and truffle soft cheese and Brie served with berries pecans and a glaze. The fois grois was creamy with notes of apples and fruit served w a mango chutney (delicious on its own) and crusty homemade bread. For dinner, we ordered the spetzla rissotto, roasted duck, rack of lamb and beef cheek. We had just run the marathon we're eating with two friends. Everything we ordered was special in its own way! Classic flavors with small twists of like pear Gorgonzola and spetzla yum! For dessert the Mille fuille was out of this world I cannot wait to go back-merci Derrière

    Several people recommended Derriere to me, when they learned I was visiting France - so it sounded like a must-do. I did LOVE the atmosphere here - kitschy/retro/romper-room style interior with mis-matched furniture and records on the wall. Semi-open kitchen, casual living-room style seating area (plus outdoor dining). I didn't love the service - since this was the only restaurant I visited in Paris where our server seemed to scoff at us for having questions about the menu (which by the way, doesn't actually describe any of the dishes), and preferred not to stop by to check-in. The food was mostly good - I enjoyed our eggplant appetizer, and our main meal ate almost like a Thanksgiving feast, including a classic roast chicken, mashed potatoes, gnocchi and a green salad (simple, but tasty). We also tried a couple of desserts: the floating island, which is extremely unique (custard, merengue, cold bisque) ... but not exactly delectable. And the lemon tart, which my husband was extremely pleased with. Definitely a cool/hip place to hang out ... just not my top meal.

The mix of the different herbs, the savory salinity of the mussel, and the sauces was wonderfully complex, yet also harmonious. The poached sea trout with pumpkin and horseradish ice cream was very satisfying. The mix of poached trout and horseradish cream was very familiar, yet the twist of making the horseradish a wholly different temperature and texture was really surprising and innovative. The monkfish in adobo was another extraordinary dish. I have only had monkfish liver before, but the way they were able to perfectly cook the monkfish gave it a texture and flavor reminiscent of lobster. With the spice of the adobo, it was a really well balanced dish. Additionally, all of the wines that we tried were also notable and delicious. Frenchie has definitely earned its Michelin star, and I wouldn't be surprised if it has another by the next time I come back.

Each dish provided a twist on classic appetizers - the gnocchi was served with an inventive "white cheddar foam," and the maple bacon biscuits struck the perfect balance of sweet and salty. We ended up lingering over our wine and enjoying the cozy ambiance longer than expected - a perfect way to spend a summer evening in Paris.

He chose it because of the reviews and also the fact that the seating area layout seemed to provide more space between tables than is sometimes the case. My husband had printed out his email with the address & the reservation, and he had made some notes on it about things to consider on the menu. We were seated at a nice window table A woman did come right away to ask about sparkling or still water. Wines are by the glass--no bottles were listed that we saw. The server just stood over us for several minutes while we were looking at the menu, which was a little uncomfortable. So my husband explained we would need a few minutes. She seemed offended. Then the male host came over and insisted on seeing the paper my husband had with the email. He took it out of my husband's hand and started trying to read my husband's notes. I asked if there was a problem with the reservation--had they found it? The man said something about wanting to know if it was prepaid (do they do gift certificates in Paris? We had no idea what he meant). I said no, it was not, so he left again. The menu is prix fixe. A different server came to take our order. She was more upbeat and jovial. The amuse bouche was a pickled herring. I ordered the pumpkin veloute soup, which was yummy. Then I had the vegetarian plate, which was fine but not memorable: squash, mushrooms, and an egg on top. My husband ordered the sausage plate. At the end, I requested the check (l'addition"). The server asked twice if we wanted to add a tip to put on the card. I have not had that happen before in Paris, where the tipping conventions are different, and a 15% service charge is included in the prices by law. I asked if it was not included ("compris") and she said no, it was not. I did leave a cash tip. But all in all, some of those awkward moments with the staff detracted from the experience.
