Shondiz has phenomenal Mediterranean food, and even better service. They, hands down, have the best doner kebab I've ever had. I recommend topping it off with a side of falafel and a rose water lemonade. The Shondiz food cart is located on the 16th Street Mall at Glenarm. It's a great value, quick service, and the cart's owners will brighten your day with their kindness and generosity. They have a punch card for frequent customers such as myself along with other promotions, and they even let me know that you can call in your order ahead of time for pickup so you don't have to spend time out in the cold. This review is specific to the doner kabab, i have not had anything else on menu. Really had a taste for a gyro. After reading the reviews I was excited to go here. Unfortunately I was kind of underwhelmed. While the sauce was excellent i feel the lamb was highly under seasoned. While walking down the 16th Street Mall, I was shocked to see FREE food from the Shondiz booth. The owner said they were opening up a new restaurant and wanted feedback. My husband and I both love Persian food and this was probably the best we've had. The guys were super nice and engaging. They gave us a little sampler of everything. My favorite was the Doner Kebob. OMG so tender and flavorful. Amazing. Nothing like the crap gyro meat you get everywhere. Tzatziki sauce was so fresh and delicious, rice, roasted veggies, some eggplant dish, sabzeh, and my second favorite the simple cucumber and tomato salad with fresh lemon juice and olive oil. SO GOOD! Looked like food made in someone's home and tasted even better. The Persian guy working said these are his mother's recipes and we saw his elderly mother sitting at the booth eating her own food. Definitely a testament to the Persian comfort food they are used to preparing at home. They cater, too. Fresh, delicious Persian food. Too bad we don't live in Denver. Hooray for Greek food in the CBD! I was craving a gyro for lunch last week, and couldn't think of a single quick option in the downtown area. I lived in Germany for almost ten years and wife is German so I still go back often for döner!!! Unlike the other reviewers that were just happy because they had a döner outside of Europe/Turkey I must be honest and say this is NOT a classic döner kebab! The insides of the döner were very tasty and very true to a real kebab!!! The pita bread however was disappointing. If they made their own delicious Turkish style pita and actually stuffed it like a real kebab and not like a gyro I would give this five stars. Döners are pocket stuffed and not wrapped like a gyro! I will definitely be going back though! Best version of a Doner Kebab I've had in the US. The cook used to live in Austria and speaks German well. The meat, sauce and veggies are all excellent. However, the pita bread is disappointing--it's cardboardy like most other pitas in the US. If you've ever had a real Doner Kebab in Europe, you'll know what's missing--that perfect slightly crusty on the outside, chewy on the inside bread. A successful food truck experience! Two in our party had the falafel sandwich and one had a chicken shawarma sandwich. We all agreed that is was tasty good and generous portion for the money. Falafel was $4.75 and chicken was $5.50. They made the falafel to order, and that delayed the start of our lunch a bit. I recently got a new job but for 2.5 years I worked a block away from this place. I started out getting Falafel with Pita and hummus everyday for dirt cheap (prices have since gone up a little). I could call him as I was walking out of my building and it would be ready by the time I got there. I was then put onto his breakfast burritos, I would get the veggie minus peppers half spicy half mild and I must say, it is the best food I have ever tasted, not just the best breakast burrito, the best FOOD. It became something that I absolutely had to have every day on my way into work and again I could call him when I got off the light rail 2 blocks away and it would be done by the time I got there. Unlike the guy down the street who everyone raves about and who won "Best Breakfast Burrito" on 16th street mall, Shondiz makes your burrito fresh to order and you can taste the difference. I went to the guy down the street one time when Shondiz wasn't there that day, stood in line for almost 30 mins and couldn't eat more than a few bites of it. Compared to Shondiz it wasn't even in the same universe, it was lukewarm and seemed like mush in a tortilla. Now, I see a couple reviews saying the owner operator does not provide good customer service, this is simply not true. I saw him every day for over 2 years and can tell you that some days yes he seems to be simply stressed or focused on dealing with a ton of orders and thus can be maybe a bit pre-occupied, and understandably so. That being said, if you catch him when its not that busy and have time to chat he is extremely friendly, thoughtful, and gets to know you as an individual. Bottom line is this, amazing food (best breakfast burrito I've ever had and its not even close), great prices, convenient location for people downtown, prompt service if you call ahead, and an owner-operating who while may be over-worked at times, is genuinely a great guy. read more
