To be fair, I was heavily influenced by Instagram so maybe I had too high expectations but the garlic knots were bland in my opinion. The garlic flavor was only on top but not anywhere else. This is my new favorite Italian restaurant! I can't believe I haven't been here before. Denuccis achieves the neighborhood corner vibe while still having high end options and fantastic food. Our waiter pointed us to the chicken parm and pasta limone which were soo good. And then he recommended the grilled calamari as opposed to the fried. The sauce that goes on was very strong and slightly overpowered the actual calamari. The spaghetti limone was very lemony but again was good. The pasta is cooked al dente so if you are someone who likes their noodles cooked longer, then I would imagine they could do that for you. The pasta was homemade. The location is good and we will return but will try different items. The pizzas must be very good as I saw someone bringing out boxes upon boxes every 5 minutes. read more

We came on a Sunday night prior to going to zoo lights, and I was pretty excited because I love their sister restaurant, Coda di Volpe. I was looking forward to some pasta and had been eyeing the garlic knots on the menu! While the food was overall good, I don't think it is worth the price. The service, despite it being somewhat slow, was not the best either. And the cocktails, while seeming to have high end ingredients or fancy combinations, were just super expensive, small, and generic tasting. We started with those garlic knots and I was so excited when they came out. They looked almost like parker house rolls covered with garlic butter. They were served with a small side of red sauce which was well seasoned and delicious. But while the outside of the rolls were soft and fluffy, the insides were dense and chewy, in a bad way. I was pretty disappointed in these small tough rolls and they were $8 for 4 of them. A bit steep considering garlic knots are supposed to be made out of discarded dough. I have no clue what they do to these garlic knots to make them so weird, and apparently the tough inside is a feature not a bug since many people have reviewed them saying the same thing. We also shared the house italian salad, which was delicious and hit the spot, but a bit small for $11 considering it was just iceberg lettuce, a few veggies, and dressing. It really reminded me of Olive Garden's salad, which I absolutely love, but double the price and very bottomed rather than bottomless. I considered ordering another one because it was so small but we just waited for our entrees. While we were greeted quickly and apps came out fast, we had to wait a while for our entrees which was fine, but the couple of times our waiter stopped by he did it in such a rush that we had to flag him back down to order another drink (which was empty when he went by, he was just inattentive). We ordered the Sunday special of Chicken scarpariello ($36) which was boneless chicken thighs, sausage links, and a metric ton of peppers. We also split the Orecchiette ($26). Both entrees were tasty, and we were impressed by the flavor and tenderness of the chicken. However it was only two small chicken thighs, and I feel like for the price there really should have been at least one more chicken thigh in there. It was disguised as a large entree because there were probably about a pound of cooked peppers included on the dish, but the pepper to meat ratio was way off, probably 5:1 of the meat which was just unbalanced. The Orecchiette was also delicious, tasted like a standard dish you'd get at any italian place so nothing particularly special. It was probably the most reasonably priced of our dishes and I still felt like it could have been a bit bigger. So while everything was tasty, the value just wasn't there. The cocktails are $16-17 for pretty standard drinks, and I think that's just ridiculous. Then the last thing that really bugged me was that our server dropped a dessert menu at 6:50, and he didn't come back until 7:10. We wanted to order dessert, but we had 7:30 zoo lights reservations so we ended up skipping it. We didn't see him at all during this time, and despite us trying to make eye contact with the manager, or SOMEONE to get our server so we could get dessert, no one seemed to notice. So overall this was a nice place but I think you can get similar tasty food at a much better price elsewhere in the city. For 2 cocktails, the "garlic knots", a salad, and 2 entrees, we ended up spending over $150 which was too much considering we didn't even have leftovers. Would have been 5 stars with better service and prices. read more

A lovely local spot right in beautiful Lincoln park! My mom and I visited here after wanting to see what the hype was about. We were pleasantly greeted with a beautiful bar area that led into the cozy dining space. The restaurant was laid back and cozy like you would get from your neighborhood spot. However, the lighting created a vibe that was expensive and a great date night location. We stopped at the bar where I tried the refreshing Italian lemonade. I didn't love all of the drink options but this one definitely hit the mark for me. Sweet, slightly tart, and light! After sitting at the bar, we were taken to our table. We were seated in the back dining space which made us aware of how large the restaurant actually is. From there, we decided to order the garlic knots and instead of getting the full appetizer order of meatballs, our waiter made us aware of the option to just order the side of meatballs that came in a pair. Our appetizers came shortly after and the meatballs were delicious!! We loved the garlic knots as well but they could use an oil to dip them in as well as the marinara. After the appetizers, we decided to get pizza as our main entree. We did a half pesto and half margherita pie. I LOVE that they let you do half and half pizza. I feel like you don't see this often but it was a definitely highlight for me. They pesto and margherita came out piping hot and soooo delicious. Could not recommend more! read more

me and my bf stopped here for his birthday dinner and it was absolutely amazing! the vibes inside were perfect, it definitely felt a little fancier than what we were expecting but it felt so comfortable once we sat down and got to get a good look at the place. Kevin was our waiter and he was wonderful, he answered all the questions we had about the menu since there weren't any descriptions, and he was very patient and polite since we usually take a bit to decide at new places. everything came out fairly quickly, we were there for about an hour and the portions were perfect for two, so if you come in with a bigger party it may be different. we got the hand pulled mozzarella sticks for an appetizer and they were amazing! they definitely tasted a lot better than i was expecting, and for fried cheese it wasn't as heavy as i was expecting. my boyfriend tried the italian lemonade cocktail and he said it was sweet and refreshing, a little stronger than he's used to but delicious nonetheless. the portion sizes for mains were a bit bigger than we expected, it's a bit pricey but you definitely get what you pay for with this place. he tried the DeNuccis signature salad and said it was perfect if you're looking for a main that's on the lighter side. i had the maine lobster agnolotti and for a pasta dish full of lobster and butter it was a lot lighter than i thought it would be. there was a lemon cream sauce with it and i don't usually prefer to have lemon with my seafood (just a personal preference) but it was such a perfect addition! we decided against dessert since we filled up on everything else, but we'll definitely be coming back to try! read more

Now this joint is run by Ballyhoo who also own many other joints including Sophia Steak & Coda Di Volpe so they know how to run a restaurant properly! I usually sit at the bar but good luck finding an open stool most nights. Nice wine list & cocktail menu to start & I usually go with the Barbaro. The menu is rather large with classic Italian offerings as well as some variances like spicy crab campanelle, spaghetti limone, pizzas & daily specials! I usually stick with the classics here and the chicken parmigiana is excellent. Close it out with a double espresso & a very good tiramisu and you'll be in heaven. Went here for dinner with family the other day and it was good. We had a couple of salads, which I would say stole the show. 2 of them and they were really great. Unfortunately, I dont remember which they were. Next we had a couple of pizzas which I only tasted and they were ok. Then I had a gluten free pasta and enjoyed that. I got it with a spicy arabiata sauce, which gave it good flavor. First of all, it's nice that they had a gluten free pasta substitute option. I can't believe some places still don't offer this. Glad they had one. Lastly, I tasted the tiramisu, and it was ok. I'm not a fan of tiramisu generally, so take that with a grain of salt. This new Italian restaurant in Lincoln park is just what the neighborhood needed. I've dined in once and ordered takeout once. We could not get a reservation when we dined in so we sat at the bar. The bar tender was attentive and answered any questions we had. We ordered the margarita pizza (don't let it fool you) it was perfectly cooked with lots of flavor - highly recommend and cannot wait to try other pizzas here. We also ordered the lemon parm pasta which was light refreshing and so so yummy. They have banana and chocolate mini cannolis which were a nice way to end our meal. When we ordered take out we tried the arrabbiata pasta but it was a little dry - i think next time we would ask for a small side of the sauce but the flavor was good. The veal parm, ambiance, and service was good. Unfortunately the grilled calamari was rubbery and made my partner ill. I thought she was exaggerating but I felt the same after trying it. However, I would do this again because the service and food was excellent. The garlic knots come out hot and fresh and are an easy MUST. The lemon pasta was my favorite dish and the dish with the meatballs was very delicious. The meatballs are so melt worthy and it is a big dish for one person, but great for sharing. Super fun and lively Italian eatery. We were staying in the Lincoln Park and decided to drop in. It was very busy but the wait time was not horrible and we found a space at the pretty, marble bar. The service was great and so were the drinks. We were seated in the bustling dining room but never did we feel rushed and the service was not harried or stressful. It was cheerful and our server was funny and gave great suggestions. We started with the Arancini and the Little Gem Caesar. The Arancini were crispy and warm and packed with deliciousness, the salad was creamy, cool, and crisp and everything a Caesar should be. For our mains we ordered the Lumache Arrabbiata with spicy sausage, the Bolognese, and the Pasta Limone. All were knock your socks off great and very well priced. The Bolognese was rich and meaty and the all the pastas tasted perfectly homemade and al dente. The Limone pasta was lemony but not bitter or sour, with some parmesan and cream, so fantastic. The Lumache had the best combination of rich and meaty and spicy but not reach for water spicy, yummy spicy - so so good. To finish our amazing meal our server recommended the Amaretto Tiramisu. WOW!!!!! I like tiramisu but this was next level amazing and a huge portion which was good because I could not stop eating it. Creamy and coffee and nutty from the amaretto, we were fighting for the last bite. It was really that good. I could eat these every day for the rest of my life. Both appetizers were excellent on their own and even more magical when combined. This could serve up to 4 people. For the main event, we ordered a pizza: half white (mushroom) and half red (sausage and onion). The pizza with very tasty and fresh. The dough is super thin and the crust is crisp and chewy. Dessert was unreal! The Pistachio Blondie Sundae will alter your consciousness and make you a better human for the next few hours, at least! I've been to DeNucci's a few times in the last month since they've opened, and I gotta say, it feels like it's going to be a neighborhood staple. Disclaimer; every time I've come in, I've sat at the bar, so I can't speak to table side service (though I'm sure it's great). They allow you to sit at the bar if it's open, and they have full service there! For a multi-course dinner, we ordered the bruschetta, the calamari, chicken parm cutlet with side of spaghetti, spaghetti limone, and the budino limone. It was all excellent! - Bruschetta: best I've ever had in my life. Order it 10000% - Calamari: delicious. The fried part fell a bit on the rings when you picked it up, but it was still very good. Also comes with peppadews! - Chicken cutlet: gigantic!!! Comes with two full chicken cutlets - enough for two people, especially with the side of spaghetti. - Spaghetti Limone: despite being obsessed with the bruschetta, this was my favorite dish in the bunch. So delicious!! Pro tip; I squeezed some lemon on a piece of calamari and then ate it with a bite of this spaghetti. SO good! - budino limone: delicious blueberry lemon custard with crunchy cookie pieces, fresh whipped cream, and dried thyme. How can you go wrong? The drinks here have all been excellent. The Italian lemonade is a perfect pairing with a heaping plate of pasta, but we're tried them all across the multiple visits and the Negroni Bianco may be the best. Super romantic and cozy feels, so I envision this place will really succeed through the winter. If Matt is working behind the bar, you'll be great! Absolutely amazing!!! We stopped in on a chance that they had a table available. We were offered a table outside, pleasantly cool. The vibe, even outside was great. It took over the former space of Four Farthings. Great seeing all the neighborhood folks out walking around, their dogs in tow. The staff even has treats to give the dogs. Well done. This is the latest venture of Ballyhoo, and like all the restaurants that they put on their roster before, they knocked it out of the park. The staff is so professional but not stuffy, quite the opposite actually. They were the perfect compliment of what a good restaurant offers in waitstaff. I started with the Tomato & Buffalo mozzarella salad. Not your typical caprese. Perfectly ripe heirloom tomatoes, amazing mozzarella, a little basil oil, and a twist; pine nuts. It was phenomenal. My partner ordered the Sausage & Peppers. The perfect amount of food, with the most amazing flavor. Executed flawlessly. I asked about specials other the Wednesday night Pappardelle. Our server told us that they still had several servings of last nights Lasagna special. Well we all know that lasagna is always better on the second day, after all the flavors blend together overnight. We both chose that and were not disappointed. Perfection. I asked for some bread and about 10 minutes later we got two pieces of perfectly toasted and lightly oiled Italian bread with just a hint of garlic. I declined dessert but Kevin ordered their Lemon Blueberry Budino. It looked really good, and lemon & blueberry happens to be my favorite combination, I was just too full. I did however get a wonderful Americano to round out the meal. I was working so I couldn't pair the meal with any wine, that will have to wait until next week when I have reservations. I just can't say enough about DeNuccis. I'm looking forward to dining inside just to see how the inside vibe and atmosphere is. I will update soon. Cannot recommend this place enough! The service and food were amazing! Our waiter johnathan was so nice and recommended us a new wine on the menu and it was perfect. He was attentive and had great notes on the menu. The chop salad is a must get, and the pesto pasta we loved even more than the pepperoni half, which we were surprised by.
