I had the numbers on the card available, but instead of working the issue and contacting my insurance - she submitted under a random electronic drop down for a different type of Metlife insurance and I was later contacted via text with a message stating Spectrum Vision needed additional insurance information. I called the Spectrum Vision office and was given voicemail. On the voicemail - I left my insurance numbers and the phone number for Metlife. A phone number the office workers could have used to call Metlife and verify this office was covered (as it is listed in the online provider directory). Instead of doing her job, she cancelled my appointment when I was unable to pickup the phone Wednesday. I was working constantly and unable to pick up the phone - so she should have done her job instead of cancelling my appointment. Is it that hard to call a phone number for an insurance provider? They did my eye exam as same they did in past years nothing new, whereas in 2026 they charge or claim to my main health insurance company UHC instead of my eye related insurance company named MetLife. Through MetLife my yearly eye exam is covered whereas through UHC I have deductible to pay. This is a purely a mistake of their insurance coordinator to make this claim to UHC and when I notify this to insurance coordinator, she starts making all false reason to convince me to pay. One of the reasons she gives me, they did my Diabetic eye exam in 2026 and that is why they charge to my main insurance company, whereas this is the same eye exam they did in past two time NOTHING NEW and in the past, they charge the same amount to MetLife instead of UHC. I am upset/ surprise instead of admitting their mistakes they are making all false statements with unprofessional way of handling their customer or clints etc.

I went to this store after an appointment that I had ordered glass and a contact training for my…read morechild. I received a text message stating my ordered items were in. However, upon arrival I wasn't notified that once the trial contact for my child arrived that I would need to make an additional appointment for training not only that but when the contacts did arrive no one at the Denton Tx University location bothered to call and set up an appointment for the training therefore I had to set the appointment up well after the contacts arrived. From there the asst manager Trey set the appointment for June 25th. I arrived at the store only to find out that although we "set an appointment" the technicians couldn't find it within the appointment book. Thus far the 2nd miscommunication amongst the staff. Trey tells the technician he set the appointment so we could be seen. My child went through the training but wasn't able to take out one of his contacts so Trey stated that the dr Ronald Barnabei would have to take the contact out. Ronald Barnabei is a nasty individual to use gloves that he touched his equipment, the office doors and who knows what else then proceeds to put his dirty gloves in my child's eye and throw away the contact. The technician stated that my child would need to contact to practice taking them in and out and reschedule another class, which is totally fine but for Ronald Barnabei to touch his equipment with the same gloves then put them in someone's eye is unsanitary, unacceptable and unprofessional. Along with him throwing out the contact that the technician said to use and when questioned his response was we'll order more as nonchalant and as dismissive as can be. When confronted about using gloves that had been contaminated Ronald and Trey had nothing to say. When I addressed this issue with Trey telling him there has been too many miscommunications between staff members he tried to twist the narrative to save face. I spent well over 600 dollars at Americas Best 2 weeks ago and paid for trial contacts only for them to hold onto them. If that's the case where's my refund? Also, Trey telling me that I would have to get another eye exam for a contact prescription, that's not needed if I already paid for the appointment and prescription. Trey then said that my child's needs to practice touching his eye (pupil) without contacts and he would be able to be better at using contacts. Per the Americas Best Website the trial contacts were suppose to be sent home for a week and then a follow up appointment should occur. I've used contacts since my early teens and have NEVER been told to just touch my eyeballs when practicing to wear contacts. In order to learn one must be able to have the product to practice with. Aside from Trey and Ronald negative customer service experience the technician was friendly and patient. I tried to give this location a chance but I can still seen why he didn't come back after several years. This is unacceptable, Trey and Ronald need customer service training and need to communicate with their employees so miscommunications don't occur. I wouldn't have ordered my glasses and contacts for myself nor ordered glasses and paid $119 for CL Exam and trial contacts for my child if I knew this would happen and be such a hassle. I either need a refund of the exam or my child's contacts prescription and the trial contacts. Do not go to this Denton Tx location avoid Ronald Barnabei and Trey if possible. It's a reason Ronald's private office/business closed in Fort Worth as he's EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL along with Trey making up policies without fact checking.

Many of her patients are dealing with vision challenges due to aging or medical conditions, and the last thing we need is added stress from a doctor who is dismissive and difficult to communicate with. A visit to the eye doctor should be reassuring and professional, not frustrating and uncomfortable. I do not recommend her services to anyone--there are far better options in the area where patients are treated with the respect they deserve. Seek care elsewhere.

They have comparable prices and usually run specials if you are purchasing more than one pair. I also appreciate the variety of locations with a joint system, making it very convenient to use multiple locations towards the same goal. That's why I've used them the last several years. However, the staff is what makes a location desirable to me, and 16 months ago I was settling for this location, not choosing it. That all changed when I stopped by last month and saw an entirely different staff from my last visit. In fact, the staff partially comprised of some of the superstars from the Highland Village location, including the current manager. I think the change occurred about 3 months ago. I was thrilled to see Brooke, easily my favorite Visionworks employee, and everything has run so smoothly from our consultation to communication updates to the pickup! Everything was so seamless and convenient and since we live in Denton, it's a relief to have an excellent location locally! I'm always impressed with Brooke, she is so personable and remembers previous interactions and just makes you feel so welcome. She is incredibly thorough too, which is so appreciated when you are continually in a time crunch and can't afford to do things twice. We came in looking to make a current pair of my husband's glasses into prescription sunglasses. He wanted transition lenses for those long road trips that span the entire day and had no interest in switching back and forth. Brooke did a fantastic job going over options and making us aware of extra benefits we didn't know we could use. She got us a great deal and my husband was able to hold onto his current glasses for a backup pair without any additional cost. My husband is really impressed with his new sunglasses! The transition capability goes way darker than we hoped for, which comes in handy on those painfully sunny days. It's been several weeks and I sometimes catch him holding them out the window to see how fast they change, lol. Thank God for their text system! I was out of town dealing with a family emergency and completely forgot we had even ordered these. You do get emails during the process, assuring you things are going well, but the text occurs only when your order is ready for pickup, allowing you to easily arrange your plans. The entire process took less than 2 weeks. I can't say enough good things about this location or the excellent staff. Highly recommend!
