I'm not happy to write this review. I wanted to like this place, I really did. I initially thought I could excuse Dr. Assadian's patronizing tone if the price was right. I can't. I trusted the 4.5 star reviews on Yelp but unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I have been to this practice 3 times over the course of a year. I gave this dentist more than enough chances to redeem himself given my terrible first impressions. During my 2nd visit following my initial consultation, Dr. Assadian unjustly pressured me into a deep dental cleaning which was $300 out of pocket, which was unnecessary as I am young and have great oral hygiene. Before the procedure, he strangely told me to close my eyes. He snuck a numbing shot into my mouth and jabbed the needle in hard without warning, which was incredibly painful and shocking to me as I had no idea he was going to do that. He treated me as if I was a child. "It's okay!", he exclaimed repeatedly as I leaned back and squirmed. I had never received treatment like this before from anyone administering an injection. He is uncomfortably aggressive in every sense of the word. I like being informed about procedures and this action infuriated me. It is very obvious that he acts this way because he gets away with it. He tried to laugh the incident off. Afterward, he pressured me into buying a "special" mouthwash for "only $30". Then, he tried to pressure me into buying a "$799 steal of a deal" night mouth guard. When I said, "No thanks", Sunnae, the front desk receptionist, sat down next to me and told me Dr. Assadian "graciously" dropped the price from $799 to $299. I literally thought she said "7.99 to 2.99" as she casually said, "seven ninety-nine to two ninety-nine". She nonchalantly laughed and said, "No, two-hundred and ninety-nine dollars", during which time I laughed disgustedly and said I have a $2 tray at home that works perfectly fine. Seriously? This sleazy business will do anything to pull an extra dollar out of someone's pocket. Fast forward to my most recent visit. I had my evaluation and I only had the intention of getting a standard cleaning because I know my insurance fully covers it. Dr. Assadian waltzes in, examines my teeth, then grabs a metal dental pick tool and points at the tiniest chip I've had in my tooth for over 15 years, which has never been noticed or mentioned by anyone in my entire life. He TAPPED MY TOOTH'S CHIP with the METAL TOOL to the point where I turned my head away because I thought he was going to damage my tooth just so he could "fix it"! He blurted out, "We need to fix that immediately!" To which I replied, "No thanks." The dental assistant realized I was offended and tried to jump to my defense that she has a chip in her tooth that she doesn't mind either. Then, Dr. Assadian suggested that I buy a fluoride varnish application for $150 out of pocket. To which I again replied, "No thanks". Then he asked if I ever had my teeth whitened and forgot to follow up on that product recommendation, to which I would have replied, "No thanks". That phrase is the only way you will survive without handing over hundreds of dollars every visit. I have never been so nickel and dimed by a dentist, other than a previous dentist who once recommended I get braces when my natural teeth are absolutely straight. Good thing I'm not an insecure pushover, but I worry for those who are easily taken advantage of. Needless to say, I'm done with this place. It takes a lot for me to lose my patience but imagine if I had actually needed serious dental treatment, how expensive and out of hand this could have gotten. This practice thinks they can rely on their good Yelp reviews forever. Keep pissing off customers at this rate and the star ratings will plunge in the future. (And thanks a lot for calling me 1 hour before my appt forcing me to reschedule to the next week when I took off of work to come in). The only saving grace at this practice are the dental assistants. I had the pleasure of meeting 3 total; 2 female and 1 male, all of whom were delightful and skilled. However, I am not a fan of Dr. Assadian's upselling tactics or condescending tone. Yelp failed me with this business and I'm not at all surprised by the negative reviews. If I had bought every unnecessary product and service pushed onto me, I would be down well over $1000 when I have perfectly healthy, good-looking teeth. Who has that much money laying around for random disposal? I wanted this to be my primary dentist for years to come, but what a shame. I'll go through the hassle of changing dentists to avoid feeling like a number, not a human being. Dr. Assadian should learn from the negative reviews rather than ignoring them. All of the negative reviews display a similar pattern of feeling hustled. Buyer beware. *Be very wary of businesses who receive an influx of 5 star reviews within a very short period of time following negative reviews to mediate the overall rating. read more

Dr. Assadian and his team are truly amazing!! Every one is always so genuinely friendly. I never wait longer than what feels like 5 minutes to be seen. Every one truly cares about you and what you're coming in for. I think it's really nice that after you leave their office after getting your wisdom teeth taken out or filling or whatever! You will get a phone call from them to check up on you and see how your feeling! Every visit I come and leave happy! I have had horrible dental issues over the past 20 years. I have also been to some of the best dentists in San Diego, including Dr. Masek, of Dental Expressions. We don't have very good dental insurance so I knew it would a challenge to find someone for my family. After looking through Yelp and other sites I chose Dentistry 2000 and I couldn't be happier with the quality of work, professionalism, and kindness of the Dr. and staff here. My tooth was broken and I needed it addressed immediately. Dr. Assadian told me he could see me right away. He assessed the situation and resolved my issue. Had I been asked to write a review two years ago, it would have been a five star for sure. I love the people in the office, it's a nice place, it was very convenient to bring my kids to. But the longer I went there, the more things went sour for me. The first thing I found out was that they are apparently greedy. A friend of mine told me they had charged her for the fluoride varnish for her kids, which was actually covered by her insurance. (I later found out that my insurance covered it as well, and yet I was charged for it every time. I let that one go.) Next, my husband goes in and comes back with a 200 Dollar night guard - the dentist apparently told him that I had reported that my husband grinds his teeth at night. The thing is, he does not, and I never said any such thing. But I kept going there anyway, because I hate changing dentists, and I thought he did good work. The reason I finally left was because I was tired of being patronized. I had a root canal that kept giving me pain, and month after month Dr. Assadin assured me it was fine, nothing wrong with the tooth at all, the pain possibly related to my allergies and sinuses, or stress - just relax and rinse with salt water. He treated me like I was coming there making the pain up to get attention or something! Like it was all in my head. I eventually sought out a second opinion, and guess what, it was a failed root canal, due to an unusual branch in the root of that tooth, not visible on a normal x-ray but discovered on a 3-D scan at Tri-City Microendodontics. (which I highly recommend by the way!) Problem was fixed via an apicoectomy and I've been pain free ever since. I could maybe have forgiven that as well. But, as it turns out, Dr. Assadin, for all his nicety, might also be simply a bad dentist. After I took my family to a new provider, I needed a buckle filling replaced that was only a few months old, but badly installed and apparently loose. And my daughter, who'd been given a green light at her last check up, with only a "let's keep an eye on that one", had 5(!) cavities, one of which was so large that it almost ended up in a root canal. So, sorry to blow the perfect five star review string, but that was my experience at this office. read more

The care was great, but watch your wallet! After some major work (which I am very pleased with) and some major out of pocket payments for both me and my son, who was on his dad's insurance, I figured out they were not following the insurance plans. Both insurance companies reviewed the charts and determined Dentistry 2000 owed me thousands of dollars. I loved the care, and the people were lovely - but be sure to communicate regularly with your insurance carrier. Don't trust what the dentist office tells you! read more

I would I could give more than five stars.. Dr. Assadian was kind, fun, and conscious of my time. He clearly knows what he's doing and conveys that subtly, which is comforting when it comes to dentistry. The staff is lovely, and the office is a nice place to be. Don't be fooled by the slightly older sign stickers on the front door, they have better things to do (like do a great job overall.) I never thought I would look forward to going to the dentist. Good vibes, highly recommend them. Also, his kid wrote a book and gave it to me, super cute. That should represent the vibe they are going for. read more

Really great staff and excellent Dr. I've been going here for almost 2 years now and I'm so happy I finally found a great dentist. He is extremely nice and knows what he is doing and so does the hygienist. I moved here from Las Vegas had my previous dentist there for 20 years . It took me going to 3 other dentists here in Ca before I found Dentistry 2000 and I couldn't be happier . I actually just got dental insurance and unfortunately they don't take it but I'm still going to them . There pricing is very reasonable and they always let you know what it will cost before they start . If you want your teeth to be happy this is the place to go ... I highly recommend it read more

This is definitely a 5 star dentist. He is very informative and will tell you exactly what you need. He will tell what is a priority and what can wait. I am the person who never went to the dentist BC of pain and bad experiences. I have not had anything negative about my experiences here. Staff is all very friendly. They even fed me breakfast once bc I didn't have anything to eat before I had a tooth pulled. Appointment scheduling is fast as you can schedule appointment the next week. Highly recommend! I've been avoided going to the dentist for over 5 years and Dr. Assadian and his staff were able to take away all existing anxieties. Come to find, I had a few cavities which can be expected after not going for so long. He discussed my options and made me feel comfortable enough to let him drill without the use of numbing medicine. I came here because they have a lot of decent reviews, but beware. This dental office is definitely clean, comfortable and the staff are very friendly. But from the moment you sit down they're trying to sell you expensive dental products. I didn't feel like I was at a dental appointment, I felt like i was at a trade show. $400 mouth guard? No thanks. Take a 2 second look at my teeth and tell me I need a $120 deep cleaning? No thanks. This practice has one goal - to separate you from your money. The worst part is that they play hardball. When I said I only wanted a "regular" cleaning, they refused, saying insurance doesn't allow that if they recommend a deep cleaning. Guess what? I checked, and that's a lie. But they probably trick enough customers that way. I'm also pretty sure the staff gets paid commission when they sell you a product. On my way out, I did buy a $35 antibacterial mouthwash that sounded like it might help with my bad breath. I have never seen someone's eyes light up like that hygienist's did. Nobody is that excited about helping a customer - I guarantee she got a piece of that money. So beware. Lots of dental practices are shady like this. But this one is so good at it they might actually make you think they're not. read more

I am extremely afraid of going to the dentist. I have had very bad experiences in my lifetime and because of this I rarely go unless I have a major issue. It's probably been somewhere between 7-10 years since I saw a dentist. A friend of mine recommended Dr. Assadian and his team. I was in pain for about 5 months and decided I'd take care of it before the end of the year. I was so embarrassed and scared when I first walked into the office. I cannot express enough how WONDERFUL this staff is. They were very caring and understanding and made me feel so comfortable. They were able to walk me through each step and as soon as the treatment started, I realized I was going to be ok. Most of my anxiety was gone within a few minutes. It did not hurt and ALL my past fear was gone. I will be able to see the dentist now every 6 months as recommended as I'm not afraid anymore. I HIGHLY recommend Dr Assadian! He's the best! He was very informative, didnt seem like he was bullshitting me, friendly, outgoing, warm, made me feel comfortable. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. I am notoriously afraid of dentists. I rarely go to dentists. However, Dr. Assadian and his team changed all of that. I got there and was greeted by a friendly receptionist. I was immediately taken back to get x-rays and the cleaning. Luckily, for me, I had no cavities. However, a long time ago I was informed I had a crack in a molar. I was told that it would eventually need to be crowned. Dr. Assadian said that he could bond it and avoid any decay that would cause it to need further work thereby turning an $1800 procedure filled with pain into a painless $45 bond. He made other suggestions and gave me amazing quotes but did not pressure me or make me feel bad when I needed to hold off for financial reasons. I will continue going to Dr. Assadian regularly. He changed everything I thought I knew about dentists. Thank you Dentistry 2000! You sure deserve all those 5 star ratings. read more
