GETTING HERE: This is the old Coco's on Telegraph and Ashwood in Ventura. Parking is best accessed off Telegraph IMO. Pass the corner gas station on the corner (if you're heading West) and then turn on in. REVIEW: OK. Where do I begin? This was a good enough eating experience with their food, but their service today equates to one word: yikes. It's an OK vibe with the diner vibes. Was pretty clean and not too busy even with the lunch crowd. But there was only one (1) server visible for the entire restaurant. The entire place! She was running and running hard. Doing her best, which was nice and she was hustling hard. Food was good. My guest loved their hash browns. Loved! The eggs were a tad runny for me, but over all it was tasty food. Server disappeared (literally) right after we asked for our check. We waited and waited and waited at the entrance. Finally an older lady appeared and rung us up. She was having a rough day herself, and it showed. Sadly. Left a bad taste for my guest and I as she didn't speak ONE WORD to us. No "thank you." Not even "hi". Nothing. As we walked away I yelled rather loudly to her, "THANK YOU" because her lack of acknowledgement of us as PAYING CUSTOMERS really kind of ticked me off. She chirped right up and thanked us. I told her I hope her day gets better. She said, "Me too." Hmm. Really? Not a plus for me. I'm sorry you're obviously short-staffed but I don't need to know your woes ma'am. I came here for a respite. 2.5 star experience rounded up to 3. I guess I'm meh on the recommendation or not. Maybe you'll get here on a better day.

Fried Fish Platter

We've been waiting almost an hour to get my plate. Came after work to this. It wasn't even packed. I think the fish is swimming away from them. The waiter was sweet.

Okay, this is one of the cleanest Denny's locations I've ever been to! Normally, the Denny's locations I've gone to are dirty and give you a sketchy feeling, but this wasn't the case for this location. My husband and I were greeted and seated immediately! Our waiter was friendly and very tentative! I got the strawberry stuffed French toast slam and my husband got the French toast slam! We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Very tasty and affordable. This is now our go-to Denny's location.

I'm not one to usually leave reviews on major chain restaurants as i figured most people have been to them and know what to expect BUT this location simply has the best service and quick consistent food and service that I figured they needed a special kudos. This Dennys is a little ways from the freeway which is why I believe it's always less crowded then your typical Dennys. Don't get me wrong they do major business but thankfully I've never had to wait here even when coming at rush hours. That's why I really love this Dennys because it's easy in and out. The food is no frills classic Dennys, nothing I could tell you that you wouldn't already know. So I'll focus on service. I dined here this morning on 10/2/22 around 10am and I was so beyond impressed with the staff and overall flow of this restaurant. I nerd out on a well managed team given my early years in the food industry so forgive me. "Those who get it, get it, those who don't, don't." The restaurant was well stocked with staff to accommodate the morning rush. Everyone working was all smiles and super helpful. They had two gentlemen behind the counters cashing out orders, what looked to be a full kitchen, plenty of servers, and the efficient manager gal helping out. Here's what I loved: 1. I saw staff constantly sanitizing their hands behind the counter and keeping a clean workspace. 2. The manager was constantly praising her staff and saying "good job guys" and keeping the pace/standards. It was so refreshing to hear someone leading their staff and creating a positive praising work environment. Working in the food industry is hard and definitely staff at chains don't get enough credit but I was so pleased with the good vibes this morning. Sorry for the rant but I felt todays experience (and my past experiences here) warranted a good review as I'd come to this location above most others.

Salmon Salad Your Way

Good for a Dennys ! The staff was friendly and attentive and the place was clean. Tesla chargers brought me here so I figured why not grab breakfast while we wait for a charge. The new sweet cream cold brew is just as good as Starbucks (don't come for me). My teens had pancakes, eggs and sausage and also a steak like melt with onion rings. Large portions and a lot of care went into the preparation, as it was not sloppy. I had the salmon salad, the salmon may have been over seasoned but a little spice in your life isn't terrible lol. Karen B was my server and she was great ! They also offer a military discount :)

This place just wasn't for me…read more I think it reels a lot of customers in having had guy fieri in there before. The ambiance is too much for me personally. It's past kitschy and onto campy. The decor is crowded and not cohesive. It feels cluttered. The tables are and walls and seats are sticky even when clean. It just all seemed a bit...dingy. They had that fun little peg game to play to keep you busy but half of them are missing pieces and they are also really dirty. We ordered hot chocolate (yum) and some basic breakfast items. My husband really liked his items. He said he would give his at least a 4 stars, but this is my yelp review lol. My food was very bland and not flavorful. I could have made the same thing at home. I don't mind spending money. In fact, I love going out to a good breakfast, but it has to be a good breakfast. If it's subpar it's really a waste of money and calories for me and that what I feel this experience was. I think I got "crunchy" French toast and it had mildly soggy corn Flakes on it. The idea was fun but the execution wasn't great. My husband simply ordered meat, eggs and potatoes. It was okay, nothing to write home about. Take what I say with a grain of salt and maybe try it for yourself. It could have been an off day for the kitchen or staff? Personally I don't think I will be back or recommend but I can tell you there were clearly regulars here that day and they do have quite a reputation so at some point they have done something right.

At 9:30AM there was already a line with about 5 parties ahead of us. We only waited for about 20 minutes and we were able to sit al fresco to enjoy the sun & people watching. I ordered a Cortado with Oat milk for my espresso kick and my husband enjoyed the Tuscan Sunrise juice from the seasonal menu (fresh pineapple, orange, carrot, ginger, lemon and tumeric) that was refreshing and restoring. I loved their signature Breakfast Lasagna, which was fully stacked and hearty - layers of bacon, bechamel, prosciutto cotto, spinach, eggs, and mozzarella, all smothered in marinara and topped with a fried egg. It's more than filling and great to share with someone who ordered brunch entree on the sweet side like pancakes or Belgium waffles. My husband had the Chicken Avocado Bacon Panini with Swiss & cheddar cheeses, butter lettuce, garlic aioli and caramelized onions. He asked to omit the roma tomatoes. I had a bite and it was yummy...great for a lunchy entree. We finished the meal with another season menu item, the Pistachio Ricotta Cake. I could have ordered two...not to share, just for me. It was really good and I hope they keep it to their standard menu. The service was at a slower pace, but the server did check on us periodically. We'd definitely come back as we pass through and look forward to enjoying more brunchy Italian fare.

I've even gotten to the point of creating my own little custom breakfast by combining different side dishes! All the fruit is fresh, the salads and sandwiches are big enough to share, and the coffee is good enough to get one to go for an afternoon pick me up (they close at 2pm). Once your seat is ready, you order at the counter and you get a number. The staff that took our order was awesome. Friendly, warm, high energy, and efficient. Our order came out in about 10-15 min. Water is self serve. Drip coffee- perfect and high quality. It tasted like Kona coffee! Lavender matcha- great and well balanced Japanese milk bread- this fell a tad short for me. I would've liked both sides to be seasoned/flavored. Japanese Milk bread is typically moist and fluffy , however this was a little dry likely due to the toasting of the bread. The color overall was lighter than expected. It's served with a berry sauce which is really yummy. Side of smashed potatoes- really good. Perfectly seasoned and ketchup tasted homemade Aussie meat pie- soooooo delicious! The crust was awesome and the meat was tender. We also loved the side salad because it had a little zing of lemon. A rare moment where a side salad is actually fantastic! Miso chicken katsu Sando- really loved this! The chicken breast is huge. As other reviews stated, it's not a typical chicken katsu. If you like honey, you'll like this. The honey sauce hits you on the front end and ends with a little acidity from the aioli and slaw. The sandwich was super juicy and flavorful. While large, it didn't feel heavy. Each bite got better and better. Brontë bowl - OUR FAVORITE!!!! Ok first off, I hate mushrooms with a passion, but I kept them in the order because they are curried and I knew theyre an essential part of the dish. They were awesome. I didn't mind them one bit. This dish does not need salmon, and if anything I think adding it would've been too salty. I naturally eat fast but this bowl makes you slow down because of the layers/elements. The sweetness of onions, the creaminess of the feta and avocado, the crunch from the seeds, the delicious pesto, the buttered bread, the perfectly poached eggs - UGH! So perfect! Everything had a purpose. I am obsessed with this bowl. It is so much more filling than you'd think. I could eat this everyday and I hope they never change it. Ambiance was great. We sat at the bar which felt spacious. The inside is gorgeous and just puts you in a good mood. The best thing about this place is the staff. Literally every single person we interacted with was amazing! Everyone here is friendly, warm, and just looks happy to be there. I can't wait to return!!!!!

There is something about this place that immediately lifts your mood the moment you walk inside. The atmosphere feels warm lively and full of personality in a way that teenagers naturally connect with. It has that comfortable playful energy where you can sit down talk with someone enjoy your food and feel like you are part of a fun little world without any pressure at all. I did not expect it to feel that youthful and inviting but it absolutely did. One thing that stood out to me more than anything else was the garlic bread. Busy Bee Cafe is the only location I know that has garlic bread with a taste I genuinely love. I do not even know if they sell that exact garlic bread online and honestly that mystery makes it feel even more special. The flavor is warm buttery and rich in a way that hits you instantly. It is the kind of garlic bread that teenagers would enjoy a lot especially if they are hanging out with friends and looking for something comforting and delicious to share. It is rare to find something so simple that leaves such a strong impression. While I was there I noticed a lot of teenagers enjoying the space and it made perfect sense. The cafe has a classic retro charm that feels both nostalgic and fresh at the same time. It is the kind of place where teenagers can take pictures enjoy the decor and feel completely at ease. The environment supports creativity and fun without trying too hard. I appreciated that same feeling myself. It reminded me of how easy it can be to enjoy a place when the atmosphere naturally encourages you to relax and be present. I have only visited Busy Bee Cafe once in my life before writing this review but that one visit was more than enough to make it memorable. It is rare to find a place that feels relaxed and exciting at the same time but this cafe manages to do that effortlessly. The garlic bread alone makes me want to return but the overall experience is what stays with you. It is playful welcoming and full of life in a way that makes you feel mentally sharp youthful and connected to the moment. I would highly recommend that teenagers go to Busy Bee Cafe in Ventura. It gives them a place to enjoy great food take pictures hang out with friends and feel creative and energized.
