I'm the type of guy that gives all establishes a chance to make a first impression. However, I will say you don't get two chances to make a first impression. Denny's, at this location, has made several positive impressions in my book. I usually go to Denny's on the weekend for breakfast, and as we all know, this is the busiest time to eat. I decided to treat myself because out of all the meals in a day, breakfast is my favorite. Angie was my server, and she delivers every time. Angie will seat guests, take orders over the phone, help with to go orders (Doordash, Uber Eats, Postmates...etc), and serve tables. I'm always left in amazement. Last weekend, I asked both servers Tonya for more coffee, and Taylor for lemons, and I did not get any type of "This is not my table" attitude. The team work was on point! My food came out the way I ordered it with no problems. I do enjoy sitting at the bar area with the happy thoughts of great service and great food. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! Our food came out cold and we asked to remake it. Rizwon who I believe was the manager brought out the the food for us. My sausage felt like biting through paper which means it was reheated. My hash brown had cheese on it which I didn't ask for. My Blueberry Strawberry Banana Pancakes had chocolate fudge smudged on the side of the plate. At check out we expressed the issue and Rizwon was very dismissive, defensive and rude. Instead of leaving us with a positive experience after the fact he just wanted us to leave. And so we did never wanting to return again! read more

By far the poorest experience I've ever had at this chain restaurant. Our food was brought to our table cold, so we asked it be remade. The food came back reheated. At the time of settling the bill I expressed my dissatisfaction with Riswah who must be a manager and he tried to dismiss my issue and say he made it again himself. Customer service was not a priority as they are just trying to get people in and out the understaffed establishment. He even gave me my veteran's discount with an attitude. Horrible, horrible service. The manager was a black guy with a full set of grills (gold teeth). Now, do note that I am also a young black male, so before you anyone gets all twisted up, let me finish so you can see the relevance of the racial reference. I got there at exactly 2:22am (about 8 minutes ago) along with a group of about 6 other individuals who were ahead of me. The restaurant had a little over 35% occupancy so they were open for business. I took a sit at the takeout area only to have the poor dressed individual come to tell us who were waiting and as well as the front staff that the restaurant will be closed until 4am. He mumbled some half incoherent reason without even the courtesy of an apology for such a random and seemingly haphazard decision. I was very embarrassed as a black person to see one of my own managing in such an unprofessional manner. Hopefully this is my last time at Dennys; IHOP and Waffle House seem to take their customers more seriously. Furthermore, this reflects badly on corporate by not having a certain standard for service and appearance. I am all for diversity; but it creates a disservice if the same level of training and/or expectations is not required for the people your are trying to include. I can't give this Denny's a low rating...and here's why: The server we had, she wasn't overly friendly, but she was very attentive. Drinks were always filled when they hit the halfway point, she was quick and she made sure we were happy. Food was the typical. They didn't mess anything up, nothing wrong with it, not over cooked and made the way I requested. Location was good for us, close to our hotel, close to the freeway. Typical Denny's prices applied. Parking was ample. Manager made his rounds. Seemed like a crew that had it together, and it was busy. It wasn't super clean but not disgusting, a typical, older Denny's really. We went on a Sunday morning, maybe it was a hit or miss seeing as how the reviews are horrible but our visit had no issues what so ever. read more

I have not been impressed with this Denny's, particularly when there are options like IHOP and Cracker Barrel also on N. Monroe. The main complaint I have with this eatery is that the service is SLOW. Don't be surprised if you go your entire meal with one beverage refill if you are lucky. The servers just seem to have no sense of urgency. They are perfectly friendly, just not very efficient. It gets a bit better when they are slow, but on weekends or during peak times, it grinds to a standstill. There's not much to say about the food. Denny's is ubiquitous, you either like it or you don't. This particular outpost has just been underwhelming every time I've gone. I really enjoy this location, mainly because my to go orders are always ready in 10-15mins. The staff is always very helpful and fast. The new decor is really pretty too. Looove the floors. But back to the food, ordered to go today and my food was on time again and ready. Dined in a few times here and the service was good. The waitress was absolutely lovely and my strawberry lemonade looked divine , but there was a bug in my drink .. that is absolutely disgusting and unsanitary . This is a Denny's. You probably know about the food. It is generally pretty decent, particularly if you're looking for breakfast. This is a new location, but it has been open for a couple of weeks. This was probably the worst Denny's experience I've ever had. There is no organization when you enter. No one to greet you and no one to take your name to put you on a seating list. There was a long line at the cash register and after it cleared out a bit we finally noticed that there was a waitress standing beside the cashier that seemed to be dealing with seating. We did get seated eventually. Unfortunately, we didn't get any menus, so we sat there for at least five minutes before I heard someone behind me ask if we needed menus. My wife answered in the affirmative, but the menus were not forthcoming. After another few minutes, we flagged down a waitress and asked for menus which we finally received a couple minutes later. After perusing the menu for several minutes, our waitress, Yvette, finally showed up. It was obvious she was a bit harried and she did apologize for not showing up more quickly. She took our order. Yvette helpfully saved me a couple bucks by suggesting their $6 french toast breakfast when I initially ordered the French Toast Slam. Not quite as much food on the $6 version, but it was cheaper and there was plenty of food. One point for Yvette. Unfortunately, she took it without writing which didn't bode well for getting what we ordered. She did manage to bring our drinks, coffee (yummy) and orange juice (so-so) and quickly provided cream (in a cute little pitcher) when asked. Another point for Yvette. The wait for the food was interminable. Actually, it was about 30 minutes. While we waited, the waiting area (which we were sitting next to) began to fill up again and chaos ensued as no one could figure out the system for getting seated. The influx of people seemed to tax the A/C's capability and it began to get uncomfortably warm. To her credit, Yvette didn't abandon us. She came around and refilled the coffee and apologized for the long wait. Another point for Yvette (she's up to 3). Eventually, our food arrived. I'm not sure whether to blame Yvette or the kitchen, but both meals were screwed up. I'd ordered my eggs over-medium and I received scrambled eggs. Not a huge issue since I also like scrambled eggs, but a mistake nonetheless. My wife had ordered the Ultimate Omelet which comes with lots of good things. Unfortunately, what she received was not even close. Her omelet had bacon, onions, and some other ingredient I can't remember. Now, having now spend at least 45 minutes in this God-frsaken place, we both decided to keep our mouths shut and just cut our losses. The only real bright spot was a nice lady and her cute daughter in the booth behind us. It was fun watching mom trying to keep her daughter entertained while they endured the same excruciatingly long wait for their food. I gave this joint two stars - one for the food which although not exactly what we ordered was pretty good and one for Yvette. She may or may not have screwed up our order, but I have no doubt she would have remedied the problem with a smile if we had made a fuss. Honestly, if you want breakfast at a chain restaurant, continue down the road another mile or so and go to IHOP. We've had decent luck there. This Denny's is close to the interstate, so it may well survive, but if it doesn't clean up its act, it is going to lose a lot of local business. read more

Called and ordered breakfasts and coffees for the guys. Got delivered and was missing Cheese hash browns on one breakfast and missing 5 coffees. Stopped the delivery guy who said he knew about the missing coffees and that Dennys would refund the money. Went to dunkin donuts to get coffees for breakfast. Called dennys and was told I had to speak with the manager. Held for 15 minutes and hung up. Tried again with same result. Tried 3rd time and it just rang until someone picked up and disconnected me. 4th time I held for a manager 25 minutes and hung up. 5th time I told the lady of my previous experience and that if they did not refund my $20.00 for the missing food and coffee that I would call the credit card company and ask for the entire $54.00. Her response was "just do what you have to do, honey" and hung up on me. If its possible to give negative stars, Dennys on North Monroe Street in Tallahassee, Florida gets a negative 5 star. Maybe I was just hungry, or maybe this is the best Denny's ever, or maybe my waitress Angie was reading my mind, but I really can't say enuf good things about this roadside mainstay. I went for a simple breakfast and everything was great from the moment I walked in the door. Great eggs, delicious bacon and a waffle to write home about, or at least yelp. Even had real maple syrup! I was just passing thru Tallahassee, but so glad I decided to go old school with Denny's. Horrible. Well the wait staff was fine, the food was absolutely awful. We just ordered simple breakfast at 10 in the evening. The sausage was green, the ham was rubber and tasteless. Not sure what the yellow rubber things were -- supposed to be eggs, but certainly did not look or taste like eggs. The only redeeming item was the pancakes were as expected at Denny's. I went to Denny's on N. Monroe Street in Tallahassee to redeem my birthday coupon to receive my free breakfast and drink. As I ordered and presented my coupon to the waitress she said she had to get the manager. The manager came over and asked to see my identification. I told him he shouldn't have to see my identification but I showed it to him anyway. He then told me that I had to buy a drink in order to get the breakfast. I told the Manager that the coupon doesn't state that I had to purchase anything in order to receive my free breakfast. The manager was determined not to give me the free breakfast so I told him I wasn't paying for the drink when it was supposed to be free with the coupon and I left. She didn't ask what we wanted to drink and had to come back for our drink order. She corrected my daughter and told her to say maam. She forgot half our order while walking around talking loudly to another waitress. The grits were watery, pancakes either burnt, eggs undercooked as was the bacon. Waitress was sweet and that's all the good I have to say. My husband's eggs were cooked wrong, his hashbrowns were reheated on outside and ice cold in middle, his bacon was burnt, and his English muffin could be used for hockey. My son's eggs were cooked wrong. My Cobb salad didn't have any eggs and the beef was overcooked and like jerky. They offered me more bacon since they were out of boiled eggs and brought me my husband's burnt bacon crumbled up in a bowl. The worst part--after waiting 15 minutes after everyone else got their food, my mother-in-law finally got her Cobb salad... WITH SPOILED MEAT ON TOP! I'd like to start off by saying that I really enjoy the food here but every time I come, the service is terrible! The employees really really show that they don't want to be there and are generally unpleasant to be around. This certain time that I came, the wait was unbearable. It was not very busy and I first waiting for a waitress to come to ask for drinks. This wait was about 10-15 minutes. When we finally received the food, I ordered hash browns instead of French fries and the side was minuscule. I asked about it and the waitress said that the manager made it like that. After eating dinner, the waitress did not come check on me ONCE. I had been out of drink within the first 15 minutes of eating. I am so displeased with this LACK OF SERVICE. I wanted to order desert but the wait to get anyone's attention was about another 35-40 minute wait until we were helped. I finally asked another waitress for help. Absolutely horrible. If you enjoy bacon that can be folded three ways (when ordered extra crispy), potatoes that resemble a deflated balloon, and a general manager that doesn't acknowledge the existence of his own patrons, then this is the Denny's for you. As someone that works in the food industry I understand the importance of customer service. A quick sale is not as important as a second sale, it just takes a little extra care to make a satisfactory experience that would make a person want to come back. I would not give them the satisfaction of having that second sale and I recommend that people who have never been, go somewhere else, because Denny's wont know that they are doing something wrong until it shows in their business. But, if you are already aware of the crap food and crap service and are looking for a cheap kick in the stomach, then by all means, McDonalds is much cheaper, and they smile. read more
