    The dining area

The waitress we had was very sweet, and the food came out relatively fast. It's pretty nice in here, and it's hopping with business. I had the bourbon chicken skillet and it was good. If I come here again though, I will probably get breakfast because it looked delicious. I think a lot of people liked the flax pancakes. Also, everything seemed very clean.

What type of food establishment closes at 5p at a truck stop? Truckers come in at many different times of the day. If you cannot afford to stay open all day then you should suggest closing this location so another restaurant or food service can be open.

Cute Diner Area-this restaurant seems extra big w/ a great vibe

Got up early on a Sunday to go fishing and were starving by the afternoon. We decided to try this location as I have been craving Denny's for months and we found this one located close to where we were. This Denny's is located in a Flying-J Truck Stop. The truck stop itself was pretty clean and stocked and made for a good place to shop around while we waited to be seated. We were told 15-20 minute wait but it ended up being almost an hour. We came during church rush and they seemed a little short staffed just like everywhere else these days. Once we were seated though our server totally made up for the wait. She was super busy but stayed so kind and never missed a beat. We woke up at 4:00am so by noon we were famished and downright hangry. I think we ordered one of each on the menu but our server didn't even bat an eye! She kept our drinks full and brought all our food out hot and fresh. The food was all good and I'm so glad I finally got my Moons Over My Hammy (with extra crispy bacon instead of ham), fix! So all in all I think the wait was definitely worth it! If we find ourselves in this area in the future we will definitely visit again!!! I'm just sorry we didn't get the servers name:(

It gives you a warm feeling watching people catching up with each other and just being friendly. And the staff is a huge part of that experience. They will make you feel like a VIP. You might even meet some of the cooks who sometimes deliver the food themselves and the owner who also has a strong presence in the restaurant. So if you are passing through town or antiquing, stop by Lumpy's to experience some small town hospitality. Maybe I'll see ya there.

Apparently, Lumpy's is a favorite of the locals. The staff calls the regulars by name. Everyone else is "Honey." I was "Honey." There was a table of regulars drinking coffee and talking politics and shooting the bull. It's a salt of the earth kind of local diner. A table opened up by the door after ten minutes. The menu is filled with comfort food. Most meals under $10. Nothing fancy, omelettes, burgers, sandwiches. Our server was sweet and recommended the tenderloins. The dining room is simple. Chairs and tables and a few booths. On the back wall are old photos of veterans. Local veterans being remembered by the cafe. My husband had the Big Tenderloin (which is award winning) with seasoned fries. The tenderloin was as big as his head. The meat was moist and tender and the breading seasoned well. The fries were crispy thin-cut with a few spices. He ate half the sandwich. I had the Crispy Chicken Sandwich. It was also seasoned with a crunchy breading similar to the tenderloin. The meat was moist. The cole slaw was creamy and sweet....delicious. They do a robust business in-house and carry out. If you are looking for avocado toast and and oat milk latte, this is not the place to come. If good old comfort food will suffice, then it just doesn't get better than Lumpy's.

I had the Herb and Garlic Chopped salad, which was beautifully plated, fresh and delicious. Romaine, tomatoes, onions were topped with cheese and avocado. The garlicky vinaigrette dressing was tangy. I I also had a cup of the Texas Chili, which was topped with cheese and jalapeño slices. The beef was tender and the soup base slightly spicy. My husband had the Cuban Press (at Courtney's recommendation) and it was tasty and hearty. The sandwich was made using Indiana ham, slowed cooked pork and melted cheese. I do think that perhaps many of the ratings are a bit higher than our experience. It could have been an off day for the kitchen team. I do suspect however that the food quality, and preparation is consistent and it just didn't quite meet what I would consider a four/five. I have travelled quite a bit throughout the world, had some really awful things and some high end, highly rated meals/places. It is simply decorated, and was reasonably clean. The server staff was friendly and effective, no issues with any of that. They even calmly managed to navigate a power outage that occurred, fortunately right after we got our meals delivered. I got a BPT sandwich and fries, and ordered a side of coleslaw. The slaw was actually pretty well done, crispy, just enough sweet to balance with the tang of vinegar. Where they fell off a bit on execution (or product choice) was the BPT. It was more of a fritter (likely frozen) vs. a pounded actual fresh pork tenderloin cut. It was thin, a bit "bready" throughout (not just coating). The bun was a tad bit stale, but they had toasted it as a good move to counter that. My wife got a turkey ranch wrap with fries. The name could easily be changed to ranch and hint of turkey wrap. The turkey prep is small cubes (may or may not be a Sysco bag of cubes type product), and there was simply too much ranch dressing, the cheese and vegetables were lost in a too wet, undisciplined glop inside of a spongy tortilla. It looks okay, but just doesn't hold up in actual eating. I wish them continued success, but I don't think we would be likely to stop again as we pass through the area.
