Worst service ever and this is my 3 time with this Resturant poor management. Waitress came by to say she was sorry as my food was sent back twice and I had to wait. Plus she offered to take back my bacon the third time because you're not smart enough to know what bird bacon is supposed to look like. Where is management I have ever seen. read more

Our server Sandy has worked here 22 years and honestly it's the best service at a restaurant, full stop, I have had in years. Extremely attentive, friendly and warm. It's rare these days to find someone who is great at their job, enjoys their job and takes pride in their work. Denny's, give this lady a raise! Only complaint was the bathrooms, I know they must have just been cleaned because the floors were wet, but there was a very unpleasant smell. Otherwise they were clean and stocked. The food was fantastic, we had almost 2 plates of food each for $13 a person. Such great food for the price. I'm going to keep this place in my back pocket, we will definitely be back! read more

On a very cold snowy day, and a craving for good breakfast we stopped at Denny's. it is nice & warm inside. We were greeted with the friendliest smile. Being vegetarians there's not much options but you can get substitution for eggs & bacon. We ordered vege burger, toast & hash browns. Our server Sandy is very courteous, friendly and kept checking to see if we were doing ok & for coffee refills. Very good service. The only complain we had was very little hash brown with burger..should have ordered fries. There's lots of parking outside. Washrooms available . This is your typical Dennys. The only reason that I are here was because it is difficult to find a breakfast place in Edmonton that accepts AMEX cards. I had an omelette with a side of sausage. The omelette was their supreme omelette which is basically a sausage and bacon omelette with cheddar cheese. The bottom line is it was ok but not great. Denny's, as far as I know, is the only all day, and all night sit -down restaurant in Edmonton. Meaning if you're craving pancakes at 4am after a night out, or perhaps before an early working shift Denny's is the place to go. My friend and I made our way to this location in Sherwood Park. It was busy, but not insanely so. The menu has a good variety of breakfast foods, plus lunch and dinner options. They also have a special bacon menu with a bacon ice cream sundae. As intriguing as that sounded (read: sarcasm) I couldn't justify buying it. Our server was nice enough, but didn't give us enough time to look at the menu. When we got in I went to use the washroom. As soon as I came back the waitress was asking for our order. We said we needed a few minutes, and she was back in about thirty seconds. Um, yeah that's not a minute. I got the banana foster french toast with eggs (over easy) and bacon. The french toast was good, very sweet. But I was dissapointed by the lack of bananas on the french toast, there were only five small slices on each piece (2 pieces total) - probably not even half of a banana. The eggs were ok, but a little runny (I forgot to specify i don't like them too runny, so that's partly my fault). The bacon was a bit too crispy, because it had become very dry. I ordered a cherry coke to drink, which was delicious. Denny's is always low price, my meal was filling, and with tip and tax came to under $15. However shortly after eating my meal I began to feel gross. I know Denny's isn't top notch food, it's greasy and cheap. It's the McDonald's of the sit-down restaurant world. Not great, you feel gross eating it, but still you crave it every now and then. Can't a girl enjoy french toast somewhere at midnight and not feel like wanting to crawl into a hole and die? This place is a total disappointment. First off there is way too much staff but they do nothing but talk to each other. There is only one person who actually serves while the army of young girls chit chat and ignore the customers. The food sucks - ordered one of the most basic items "All American Slam" and it tasted rubbery, old, and parts were cold. The customer sitting across from me never even got his eggs after waiting 15 minutes (and the place was pretty dead). The kitchen is rather loud in some language. Restaurant is dirty and sticky and again the one employee who works is the only that cleans as the rest just chat. Denny's of Canada might want to send its people to Denny's of USA for some hands on training as they are the most basic restaurant concept and it's hard to mess this stuff up. read more

Oh Denny's, good ol reliable Denny's. Always there when you decide you want a Belgian waffle at any hour of the day. - until the last time I went. When waffles were removed from the menu. WHAT. Yeah I was shook. My replacement meal was tasty but alas no waffle. I mean it's Denny's it is what it is. Reasonably priced diner fare. Service here is always kind of shotty but I can't imagine the clientele is always stellar so I give them props anyways. read more

The food selection is exactly what you'd expect from a chain breakfast diner, so I won't say anything more about the menu. We've found the eggs always warm and the potatoes piping hot. I order my toast dry because I find most people add too much margarine for my tastes, but it's never over-toasted. We frequently get undercooked pancake puppies, but the staff is great about making us a fresh batch. The coffee is great even with the recent change in beans. Cleanliness is wanting at most restaurants and breakfast joints frequently have syrup from sticky child-sized finger all over the seats. Again, the staff here is always cheerful about wiping any problem areas or reseating us. To be honest, the staff is why we return every week. Sandy is standout fantastic, but everyone is friendly and greets us with smiles. The coffee pours freely and the food arrives promptly and fresh off the grill. read more

Two stars only because the food and service is usually okay....usually. This evening the manager (I assume?) had a fit over the fact I didn't want a fountain pop in a coffee cup to go (I wanted a can to go) and he slammed it into the trash instead of compromising with me as the customer. I had to bring back my food I ordered to go because the poutine had no cheese, and barely any gravy.??? Poutine! I get home and was surprised to see no cheese! Stop cutting corners and give customers what they paid for!!! Not to mention the portion sizes for amount we pay is way off especially for the quality. Also I felt duped when I went to eat with my kids for the "kids eat free day". Normally when you order a meal from the kids menu it includes their drink. This usually our stop point after a good gym workout on the weekends. In the past we've always had good service and I personally LOVE that I can have a gluten free egg Benedict. However, we went and we weren't served or even asked if we wanted water for 15 minutes. We ended up asking someone's else's party if this had been the service all night and they said yes. We ended up leaving the restaurant starving and wasn't even asked anything as we were leaving after being sat 15 mins earlier. Maybe I'm just easy to please, but this was one of my best eating experiences in the city. What makes a good experience for me is good customer service (a nice and helpful waitress), good food, and more good service. I don't know why everyone is complaining about the staff and wait times, when you go out to eat you should expect to wait, as simple as that. The wait was about a half hour if that for our large breakfasts and special pancakes, but we hardly noticed the wait as we were busy talking. Sandy took our order on Christmas morning with a smile on her face that put one of ours. We couldn't believe how great the service was, although only a Denny's, I wish we received even near the amount of friendliness and joy that Sandy had, from other waitresses elsewhere. Great food with tons of flavour, bacon was crisp and salty and the buttermilk pancakes which I normally leave untouched were delicious as well! This location unfortunately needs a manager to address the service issues at it's roots. Three times now my order has come out improperly and they write the order down for pete sakes. Now I do not like to complain too much but as a previous Restaurant owner operator service DOES mean something. Food: Eggs are consistently cooked and that is good but the red skin potatoes are almost 95% of the time soggy. I am a brekkie person and enjoy a coffee with my meal as well. However once I got my cup I was not asked once for a refill on my recent visit and actually went up and got it myself. Service: No check on my food as originally the wrong hashbrowns came out with the meal. Now if this was my first visit all would be somewhat forgiven as I could chalk it up to a poor server who has become complacent. She was nice for the once time I saw her to take my order and get my coffee but never saw her again until time to get the bill. Almost an identical experience my last visit here as well. Three times poor service with no attention to how things were as if they were scared to ask lol. When the time to pay the bill came I went up to the front to pay but the two hostesses felt it far more important to calculate their earnings and must have had to make me wait whilst they figured it out. Bottom line is we all like the fast Denny's fix which has a good price and while greasy and kinda low brow it fills the needed void for some reason at times. I won't be back here but will still take in gateway and 36 ave on occasion. I came during a weekday morning and was seated quickly which is almost where the good experience stopped. The waitress came quickly after I told the guy who was getting my drink I was ready to order. My food arrived lukewarm at best; the toast was cold, the bacon was cold and undercooked, and pancakes barely had enough heat to melt the butter. I had to flag the server down to get a refill and then waited an unreasonably long time for an almost empty restaurant. The server then proceeded to walk past my table several times and stared at my empty plate pushed away from myself and kept walking. I had to flag her down to get the bill. This is no longer our go to breakfast place. Every time we go here the service is slow, but there is plenty of standing around and talking loudly between the employees. I have had to repeat requests multiple times to a server, and it's annoying to have to flag them down each time because they don't come around to check on things. This is a complaint more so for Denny's than this location, but it's frustrating to ask for a substitution for one of the items in the meal. They don't let you pay a few bucks more to substitute your home fries for bacon. Instead they make you stick with the meal including the home fries and the bacon. Well if my meal already includes toast and pancakes, do I really need the home fries too? I am willing to pay a little more it that is what it takes, but don't force me to waste food. read more

It was on January 2nd 2018 and I went to Denny's for breakfast in Edmonton and I was in a rush to return to Calgary. I was there at 10 am and it was sketchy because there were some people asking for money outside and it was super slushy. I remember walking inside the restaurant to hear shouting coming from the kitchen and have a burnt aroma enter my nose. Then I waited for a good hour and a half just to get a small cramped seat that smelt like smoke, with ripped leather seats and a spring in my back. The glass right next to me looked like it had not been washed and it was nearly impossible to feel comfortable where 3 people can sit we got stuck because we were a party of 5. The waiter joined us 30 minutes after we sat down to take our orders, and she didn't even know what some of the items on the menu were. At this point I had been there for 2 hours with a hungry stomach. When the waiter had left she just went to more table taking 15 minutes. There were 3 people working and it was so frustrating because I was just starving. Finally 45 minutes later our Waiter comes back with half our food and said the other half was coming, it only took 30 minutes. When I bit into my pancakes it was cold and felt gross in my mouth. It's Denny's. I never really thought much of it. My friend's told me some horror stories since as he's employed here though and they're pretty disgusting which I'm here to tell you thankfully #1: The cooks Frequently go to the bathroom and don't wash their hands Sneeze on/near the food and don't throw it away Get orders wrong constantly Use dirty plates intentionally if there aren't enough clean ones Get hair into the food They time the food wrong so half of it is cold and the other half is burnt in an attempt to get the customer their food as orderly and quick as possible Don't know how to cook Have no experience in general Keep bacon in what they call a bacon drawer which is essentially a heating pad thing so the food stays warm when they cook the other half to reduce work load, but some genius decided to cook all the bacon at 6 in the morning and keep it in the dreaded bacon drawer; the head office guy came and said it was unsanitary to do this and they would need to change it if they wanted to stay open Denny's agreed and all but quickly reverted as soon as he left #2: Management People leave every few months in massive droves leaving the remaining few strained and deliver poor quality food (not that it wouldn't suck if they were there anyways) When this happened one time Denny's had 3 people working there that day and one of the waiters was forced to cook the food despite no cooking experience whatsoever The bathroom is disgusting as they refuse to clean that pit of despair The employees aren't allowed breaks unless they have literally 0 customers (which is illegal by the way) They force the employees to pay for their work clothes (also illegal) Pay their waitresses less than minimum wage if they wish to receive tips (another Grade A douchebag move) The general manager sucks and takes tips that aren't theirs The waiters and waitresses seem to not really give a shit about helping the customers which is understandable in their situation working with people half of whom want to work and the other half not Have allowed minors to serve alcohol #3: Cleanliness The food that is dropped on the floor is put right back on the plate They passed the health inspector at least but that says more about the quality of inspection rather than Denny's Tables are usually clean or look clean at the very most As well as all the previous mentions of sneezing and bacon drawer antics this business is very disgusting #4: Food The last time I went and last time I will go; I was graced by the most bland inedible mediocre disappointing food I've ever been delighted in eating The chocolate chip pancakes didn't have chocolate no no, just black burnt specks I assure you The bacon which I was aware of at the time being in the drawer was soggy and tough They ran out of butter some how so we had to make do with no butter and unevenly cooked toast The drinks were so watered down it tasted like drinking sugar water A very bad experience overall Conclusion: spend your money on something that tastes good and won't give you food poisoning and diabetes Don't make the excuse of going here because your drunk or no other place is open ANOTHER PLACE IS ALWAYS OPEN read more

Went back for a couple of ROOT BEERS and we found more ants in our drinks and crawling all over the floor.My one friend order the steak n'eggs and when he cut open the eggs, a bunch of mother fuckin baby ants spud out of the yoak. Our service at this Denny's was terrible. I came into this Denny's originally planning on buying food but by the time I had gotten there I felt pretty sick so I only wanted to have water, I said this to the waitress and she was outraged and said that I had to buy something even though I was with 3 other people who were buying full meals and deserts for themselves. She told me even McDonalds now charges for water and there is no excuse for not buying anything even though I was absolutely nauseous. Later my friend asked for chicken strips and fries and the waitress got mad and said she had to order it with two sides . When my friend could not find the page where it listed the sides everyone at the table could hear her say under her breath "not that page stupid". I thought I must have misheard her but everyone else I was with also had heard her call my friend stupid . I regret not saying anything at the time . We were not being loud obnoxious and I can understand servers not being at the top of there game on a Sunday night but too imply you'll kick someone out for not buying something and calling some one stupid is ridiculous. Today a friend and I decided to have lunch at Denny's in Sherwood Park. I arrived early, and the person at the door that seats you was very nice, I had a half an hour wait, and three times she came over and asked if I wanted to be seated or have a drink of water, I said no, thank you my friend should be coming soon..that was the best part of the lunch...it went down hill from there. At one point while waiting for my friend, one of the servers and the cook got into a loud argument that I overheard, and no doubt a few other people as well. Our server arrived and asked us what we would like to drink..me diet pepsi no ice, my friend a coffee..they arrived, her coffee was cold, my diet pepsi had ice. I asked for no ice so sent it back..but my friend just drank her coffee.. We then ordered our meal, she had a small portion eggs bennedict, I had the new burger. We had a very long wait..it was not very busy, but we had a long wait. The food finally arrived and the waitress explained that the cook thought she was to have the potato, but found that was not the case so took it off..but left the messy potato stuff on the plate with her eggs. Since my friend's coffee was cold,she decided to switch to hot water. The waitress brought her a little teapot..but no cup..I asked for a new cup..and she took her coffee cup away..and she came back with a cup..we are not sure at this point if it was a fresh cup with coffee grounds in it..or her old cup that the waitress just dumped and brought back. Meanwhile..while we are eating, another waitress is vaccuming the floor next to us. Yes the place needs to remain tidy..but there was hardly anyone else in the place at this time..she could not have vaccumed another area? My burger however was good and my friend and I shared the fries. When we left, I had a talk with the girl who sat us at our table about the plates, and asked if we wanted to talk to a manager..I told her that I would ask my friend and see if she would like to talk to the manager..which I did..but she decided to have a talk with the waitress instead..who told us it was not her fault that the plate was not clean, it was the cooks fault..In my opinion..it's both, the cook should not have sent it out in that condition, and if it was..it was up to the waitress to ask for a clean plate.
