Chorizo and Goat Cheese Crepeomelette, with Sundried Tomatoes and Hollandaise. Served with Potatoes and Fresh Fruit.
Bradford P.

I knew when I dragged my old bones out of bed on this Holiday Monday that it would be best to allow a professional to feed me breakfast. All of my usual brekkie joints were closed today, but I remembered Cora had taken over the old Smitty's location in the venerable Ambassador Hotel on 106 st. and I had yet to try it. I strolled in about 2PM, well after any breakfast rush and was seated right away, the restaurant being almost empty. I was handed a menu and had my drink order taken as I was seated by a very friendly and efficient server. I took a while with the menu, which is vast and creative. In the end I went with a Chorizo and Goat Cheese Crepeomelette, with sundried tomatoes and topped with Hollandaise. The "crepeomelette" is quite self explanatory, essentially an omellete rolled up in a crepe. I had a book with me and did some reading while enjoying my coffee, which was very good. My food arrived very quickly, as I was only one of 3 people in the restaurant by this time. The plate looked great, so I snapped a couple of pics and then dug in. The crepeomellette was served with Cora's potatoes, which were savoury and delicious. Crisp on the outside, tender inside. They required no salt or pepper, and I didn't even open the ketchup. It was not needed. There was also some fresh fruit as a garnish, with strawberry, pineapple and cantaloupe. The main portion was delicious. Lots of flavour and texture with each ingredient in harmony. If I had to complain about something, as I so often do, I would want a bigger, spicier flavour profile in the Chorizo. The portion was large, but the plate was clean when it was all over. I will not have to eat again today. The restaurant itself is bright, welcoming and impeccably clean. The staff are friendly and professional, and my meal was excellent. This is premium breakfast fare, and you will pay a bit more for it. The median price for a main appears to be around $15 - $16, with some items higher. However the quality and the freshness of the food is very high, and in the portions I saw, still good value. Cora is on par with other boutique breakfast restaurants in town and perhaps a bit above for food. There is a very good reason Cora has been sweeping across Canada, is a top choice in whatever market that they are in. I will be back.

The little Cora's sign on the Days Inn Hotel on 106th Street, NW.

I usually try to avoid chain restaurants but my, colleague who I was meeting downtown, recommended Cora's so that's where we had brunch. Until today I didn't even know where the downtown Cora's was located in Edmonton. It's on the east side of 106th Street in the Days Inn Hotel. Only a single small sign gives the blocation away so it can easily be missed. I took the train here (Corona Station) so I don't know if they offer parking. We arrived at around 10:00am to an empty restaurant. As a result of being empty the service was excellent but a person really needs to be here when it's busier to see how good the service is. The coffee came immediately. It was served in rather small cups but our server always arrived with a pot of coffee to refill our cups before they reached critically low levels. The menu here is likely the same as all Cora's. This being a breakfast restaurant it naturally offered an extensive selection of breakfast foods so we actually had a hard time deciding what to order. I liked that most dishes included generous helpings of fruit rather than just fries . I'm sure that there is something here for just about everyone. My apologies to the gluten free people as I forgot to check for GF dishes. I ordered the Chorizo Ham Skillet which was topped off with an egg. It was reasonably tasty and certainly filling. I'll wear it off shovelling all the snow that fell while we were visiting. Most dishes were between $15 to $17 (winter 2020) so that bumps them up to medium price range. With a coffee and GST, but before gratuity, my bill was $20.48. That's a bit higher than I would expect from a chain restaurant but fruit does cost more than fries. The washrooms were clean but the men's room had not one or two but three out of order signs up. There were still two functional stalls remaining. I had a good visit and my colleague (who is not known for eating a variety of foods) liked it so much that he asked to go to Cora's again the next time we meet up. We left around 12:30 and the restaurant was definitely getting busier but was still not full. If you come make sure that you are hungry as there weren't very many smaller dishes.

Great breakfast/brunch place. Bacon and potato was made crispy per order and did not disappoint. Friendly staff and fresh tasting food.

I have been to this location a few times now. The food is always fabulous and despite the small location and small crowds, it always meets the same expectations for food quality and customer service as any of the larger busier locations. I visited today to score some extra birthday points on my membership card - achieved - woohoo. But the staff were so sweet to me for my birthday, and went above and beyond for me. From the waitress, management and from the chef in the kitchen. What a treat! I left feeling VERY full and VERY spoiled. What a wonderful team and I look forward to going again! Happy New Year Cora's downtown!

I love their cinnamon buns but this time I did not order one. My friend and I came here for supper. It was delicous. I had the Red Curry Laksa with prawns, PEI mussels, bok choy, carrots, bell peppers, red onions, vermicelli noodles, red coconut curry sauce, and cilantro. My friend had the falafel and fries. I loved my Red Curry Laksa. It was fresh and rich. Loved the red coconut curry sauce. The seafood was a decent portion. My friend liked her falafal but it definately wasn't the best she has had and was eyeing up my curry. Service was OK. I feel like because we didn't order alcoholic beverages, we didn't get service as much as the tables that did. That won't prevent me from coming here again.

Both were so very tasty, and did not disappoint. The ambiance of the restaurant is different than many places I've gone to. Being close to the University of Alberta main campus, many young students compose the clientele of Sugarbowl, but not limited to. The decor is very nice - brick walls and posters, and hand written beer menu, to name a few. Service was very good, professional, and friendly!! Overall good experience, and will return again in the future.

Brunch is offered on Saturday and Sunday, otherwise they open for lunch (closed Mondays). Epic Market is huge. This will be a very popular place for the Whyte Avenue crowd as there are so many options available depending on which floor you enter. We were on the second floor today for brunch but the first floor, which has a similar look and feel, has a Mexican menu. It opens for lunch at 11:30am. It's a unique concept for Edmonton. The server said that they've opened similar restaurants in larger cities like Toronto but Edmonton is their first venture into a "smaller market". The brunch menu was interesting with some unique features and some typical offerings. I had the Pork Bennie, for $18.00 in 2024. The prices are quite reasonable for the type and quantity of the food. My bennie was good. My only criticism is that a special house ketchup would have been a nice touch. The service was excellent and we had a nice view of Gateway Blvd out the window. The coffee includes endless refills which is good because the cups were not very large. I'm sure the vibe is much different for dinner than brunch, but based on our experience, I'll definitely return.

My wife and I both ordered the Chandru Special for $17.50. It's a crepe with bacon and eggs inside plus some cheese slices melted on top. There was a side of fresh fruit. The presentation was somewhat lacking as the cheese slices made it look like something you find at your children's birthday party. The dish definitely needed some sauce to help it down. At least the fruit was good. Our server was very skilled at tunnel vision as she didn't see us even when walking right by our table. Eventually we caught her and got a refill for our coffee. She was pleasent enough when she arrived but definitely didn't want to do refills. On a more positive note, my friend ordered an omelet which came with potatoes that looked like thick potato chips. They looked good and he liked them. If I return it will be because I am in the area and can't find a better place. In other words, three stars out of five.

We would go back in a heartbeat, just need to sleep off the food coma for a while. It's bright and airy in spite of the smallish space and the amount of booths and tables, oh and you can sit at the counter. The walls and ceiling are covered in memorabilia, concert banners and what not. The place was absolutely hopping at 12:45 PM, but we were sat in a booth right away. Waters dropped moments later, asked if we needed coffee, tea or whatever else you wanted to drink. Our server was fantastic, explaining and educating us as we were first timers. The food came out piping hot very quickly and our tea ordered after the food was dropped came in a large teapot and hot just like at home. The clubhouse, which I did not have, has house made ham and turkey according to our server. My corn beef had slices of corn beef that did not taste house made, but the sheer volume of meat I couldn't finish, the eggs were cooked perfectly. K's Mexicasa omelette was excellent with the Mexican meat the star. I know why the place is consistently full, it's that good. Definite redo when back in West Edmonton

The servers were friendly and fast which was perfect for us as I needed to get to an appointment. It's a relatively small restaurant with many patrons. It's definitely got that old diner vibe which is always fun once in a while. If you're looking for a solid, traditional diner experience, you can't for wrong with Rockin' Robyn's.
