11/6/2025 - I ordered the basic grand slam to go. They told me it would be ready in 10 minutes. I arrived in 10 minutes and it was ready. It had 2 large pancakes, 2 scrambled eggs and 2 slices of bacon. It was very good. It came with 2 packets of syrup, a butter and a fork and knife. There was no salt or pepper though. Yes, they tried to be stingy with the salad too, which has a food cost of $0.75 cents, while they sell it for $7.50. That's a 1,000% markup, yet they still felt the need to rip us off on the amount of salad in the container... Come on, guys! The coup de gras was when they charged nearly an additional $2 for extra Ranch dressing, but they used the smallest sized ramekin cup. We understand that running a restaurant is getting more expensive, but you can't take advantage of your customers and expect them to come back... I will not be dining at this Denny's location ever again. read more

Mehrnoosh is a delight. She's quick and caring. GREAT customer service. She anticipates your need before you do. And this Denny's is rarely busy but it has award certificates on the wall. Conveniently located near the 163 Fwy off the Clairemont Mesa Blvd exit on Kearny Villa Rd. next to Arco Gas. We were craving a good dinner meal after a long day event at the Pechanga Arena. We were immediately greeted and seated as we entered. I had their 'Meaty Melt with fries', and my husband had their 'Crazy Spicy Skillet and Eggs.' Everything tasted fresh with that authentic Denny's flavor. For dessert, I had their 'Apple Crisp', so satisfying. Shout out to our server 'Nooshi' who was extremely attentive and helpful with the menu. She is the best server I've ever experienced in every aspect. I placed an online order for pick up on Sunday 8/25 for 9 pm as I work shift work and I would be picking the food up on my 30 minute lunch break. My order was for zesty nachos and pancake puppies. When I arrived, the cashier tried giving me someone else's order which included a burrito. I told her that is not what I ordered. She said she had no order matching what I had ordered. I pulled up the email receipt on my phone, showing her that I placed the order at 8:30 pm for 9 pm pickup. The cashier then became argumentative, telling me someone else picked up my order and signed for it. She asked if it was Uber eats or DoorDash, as someone else picked it up. I explained that I was the only one who had the capability of ordering it since it came from my mobile phone, not through a delivery service. Basically, she gave my order to someone else and was upset that I was upset about it. She basically said, too bad, someone else took hour order and signed for it. My guess, she didn't bother to confirm the name and gave it to the first person who walked in and said they had a pickup, considering she was trying to hand off someone else's order to me when I got there. Since I was on a 30 minute lunch break, I told her I didn't have time to wait for the kitchen to remake it, so I'd like my almost $20 order to be refunded. She said no and that I could call tomorrow. When I asked for a managers number/contact info, she gave the general number to the restaurant. Instead of being helpful in any capacity, she scolded ME saying she "didn't have time to argue because she had tables" ...it's 9 pm on a Sunday and there's maybe 3 tables sat in the restaurant. I didn't want to "argue" either, I wanted a simple refund for my food that I paid for that she gave to another patron because they couldn't bother to confirm who or what they were giving away. I'd care a lot less if I wasn't working a 12 hour shift and wasn't immediately greeted with attitude for a mistake I didn't make. A little compassion and grace goes a long way. Ultimately, I left food-less and without a refund. 0/5 if I could. read more

Having been to this location a few times now while in the area dropping off the SO and before school starts. Granted, yes its a Dennys and we have our favorites and the menu has changed corporate wise... but service has not wavered at this establishment! Andrea (I hope that is our waitress name who works early morning shift during weekdays) is a champ! She takes care of every person walking through that door... and it is more than a couple all while maintaining that she checks on us (as well as the other tables) in a friendly and quickly manner... especially bringing around more coffee even when I'm only halfway empty! She gets 5++++ for what I've seen her handle.in the mornings (and ringing us up at the cash register!) I hope she gets paid well as she does the job of 3 people nowadays! In any event, Dennys has a little something for everyone... while a meal for a family of 3 now runs about $50+ for breakfast plus tip... it is quite pricey BUT it meets our expectations of what we have come to expect. This location has always been clean and neat, once the bathrooms were being cleaned early morning but finished by the time we were ready to walk out. This location has a lot of foot traffic in the mornings as it is located right off Highway 805 off Clairemont. More than likely will be returning soon as this is my son's favorite breakfast spot. read more

We have been coming here for decades off and on . In today's economy we still find this to be one of the more affordable places to come have breakfast . I think they can do way better with the bacon as that is too thin and usually not crispy enough. However they do a great job with a banana split. The people who work here are very friendly, we have experienced great customer service and our order is usually correct. Andrea has worked here for years and is always welcoming with a smile on her face​. Upon entry there are flags for the US and our military , they decorate for each season making it festive and the booths are comfy with a rustic flooring. It's a Kearny Mesa comfort and we enjoy coming here. We hope they stay here forever!! read more

A very professional staff here at Denny's Kearney Mesa. They are friendly and greet everyone who walks into the restaurant. Our server, Sebastian was quick and efficient and he brought us everything we needed and checked on us to make sure we were happy with our meals. I had a simple House Salad with a side of vinegar and ranch dressing and the other person in my party got the Scrambled Eggs and Cheddar breakfast.
