S24. Torpedo Sandwich (this is not a torpedo)
Willy J.

Beyond basic, like bland basic. The people that worked there were very nice, but I don't think they have any business running a sandwich shop with these options. Unfortunately, I feel it needs a complete overhaul of the menu and bread.

S3. Bomb Sandwich
Tim B.

Unique Sandwiches is great. It's a good to place to go if you work nearby. Their sandwiches all taste very high quality. My favorite one to get is the bomb, I love the cream cheese and bacon in it. They also have other interesting options depending on the daily special. The workers are always very friendly and it's usually pretty quick. The inside is nice too.

So much meat delicious!!!
Vanessa G.

Second review this time it's a bust! I tried a BLT and ordered it with extra mayo and guess what I got more mustard in it. The bacon was overcooked and hard. I paid 12.00 for mostly bread and lettuce. I even asked for extra pickle and got nothing. I had to go back and got handed a tiny slice of pickle spear. My last sandwich was so good I don't know what happened here, but I won't be ordering another BLT.

excellent!

Service was excellent and quick too! Nice place to relax/wait while getting your car fixed (@Tae Automotive) and at the same time a great place to get sandwiches. I decided to dine outside and it was nice that one of the employees came out to check if I needed anything else. Their sandwiches are simple and very delicious! Kinda the home comfort feel. I had the "unique special" sandwich on rye bread.

Egg Salad sandwich. So good!!
Theresa N.

Great sandwiches at decent prices. I think they are family-owned too. They also have daily specials and have a good variety on their menu. Four stars because their egg salad sandwiches are supposed to have bacon in them, but as of late it seems that is no longer the case. However, their menu description and price still reflects that.

hair in S6. Club Sandwich ‍

not from around the area but my partner and I were hungry so we ordered online to pick up. not only are these sandwiches expensive but my partner's sandwich had a hair in it! we didn't notice until we got home to eat so nothing left to do except to come and leave a review. very disappointed to have spent over $20 just for it to not be edible.

Chicken Caesar Wrap
Heihachiro K.

Mediocre deli, but it was worth a try! The staff was all Asian (like me), and I'm guessing they were family owned. They just have your typical American deli sandwiches. Nothing unique here! Lol Chicken Caesar Wrap - Exactly what it sounds like. It was fresh and crisp and hit the spot. Tuna Sandy on Rye - Not bad, tuna was made that day. Fresh. *Good parking *Reasonably priced

Here for the first time & I ordered the double club. My toast was burnt :(
Maryrose M.

My double club had burnt toast & ended up being too crunchy. It just crumbled as I picked it up :(

I wanted something quick for lunch and saw that this had good reviews so decided to check it out…read more It's located in the back of the liquor store and once you place your order you can pay up front. I went with a godfather sandwich and the first thing I noticed is that the sandwich is absolutely stuffed. They are not shy about putting meat in here which I appreciate as sometimes sandwich spots give a less than desirable amount. I was also surprised at how good the Dutch crunch I chose tasted (it had a slight chew but was also fluffy at the same time). It definitely wasn't the cheapest sandwich (after tax it was around 19 bucks) but based on the ingredients and amount of meat I'd say it's fair value!

My guests couldn't stop complimenting how delicious they were--perfectly balanced flavors and high-quality ingredients in every bite. They not only looked great laid out for the event, but they also added such a professional and elevated touch to the experience. The service was smooth, timely, and stress-free, which made hosting so much easier. I'll definitely be ordering again and highly recommend them for any event or gathering!

This place is one of the top 5 best sandwich shops in San Diego hands down. They also serve salads,…read moresoups, and some awesome sides. I heard they're going to start serving beer and wine soon as well! *Best 1st-timer options*: The Keeper (if you like it spicy) or the L.G.B.T. My favorite hot sandwiches are the Cali Cubano, B3, and The Keeper, while my favorite cold sandwiches are the Avocado Highway, L.G.B.T. (lettuce, gouda, bacon, tomato), and Caprese. My favorite salads are the Grapevine and Duck Cranberry. For sides I recommend the potato salad and tomato basil bisque. The aioli they use is to die for -- can't hurt to get a side of it with any sandwich! The restaurant is situated on the corner of Park Blvd. and Polk Ave. (more generally, it's on the strip of Park Blvd. between University Ave. and El Cajon Blvd.). There is usually a good amount of parking on Park Blvd. and Polk Ave., which is nice. The space has a simple-yet-tasteful modern design and interior, is always clean, with friendly and helpful staff. Great for lunch hour or a weekend date. Update: Came back today with my friend and we ordered the B3 and the Turkey & Cheddar Mousse sandwiches, plus sides of potato salad and cucumber salad, and a double chocolate cookie with pistachio and sea salt. Everything was really good, but the Turkey & Cheddar Mousse sandwich was the star of the show. The cookie was great too. We both agreed the potato salad could use some salt, but besides that it was a solid meal all around.

Big Front Door has quickly become a new favorite for sandwiches, and visiting two days in a row…read moremade that very clear. On the first visit, Zack provided exceptional care and attention while helping navigate food allergies. Zack took the time to carefully check ingredients, double-check preparations, and personally come back out to verify everything to ensure safety. That level of care made the experience feel genuinely welcoming and stress-free. The chicken sandwich was fresh, satisfying, and thoughtfully balanced. Juicy chicken, ripe tomatoes, creamy avocado, and a bright splash of oil and vinegar came together beautifully on Big Front Door's roll, which had a great texture and held everything together well. The flavors were clean and vibrant. A little extra salt would have pushed it over the top for a salt-lover, but that came down to personal preference rather than any shortcoming. A dining companion ordered the avocado sandwich and could not stop raving about it, praising both the flavor and the freshness. The outdoor seating area deserves special mention. The shaded space was perfect as I do have sun allergies, especially for anyone who prefers relief from direct sun. The care taken in food preparation added an extra layer of comfort and trust. The second visit somehow raised the bar even higher. Micah went above and beyond to accommodate physical ability needs with patience, attentiveness, and genuine kindness. That effort did not go unnoticed and made the experience feel deeply respectful and inclusive. The roasted chicken sandwich ordered on the second visit was phenomenal. The roasted chicken was tender, savory, and full of depth, elevating the sandwich even further. Adding a bit of extra salt brought all the ingredients into perfect harmony, making every bite more satisfying than the last. This sandwich has officially earned a spot as a new favorite sandwich. Big Front Door was amazing not just for delicious, thoughtfully prepared food, but for the people who work there. Zack and Micah created an environment where care, kindness, and respect were clearly prioritized. No moment felt rushed, dismissive, or uncomfortable. At no point did anyone make the experience feel like a burden or inconvenience. A sincere thank-you also goes to the team members who prepared the food. Even without knowing names, the care taken to keep guests safer while serving delicious nourishment was evident and deeply appreciated. Big Front Door comes highly recommended for the flavorful sandwiches, the shaded outdoor space, the welcoming atmosphere, outstanding customer service, and the genuine kindness shown at every action.

Hidden in the North Park area of San Diego, this spot is definitely a hidden gem. They've got a solid sandwich menu with plenty of options, plus you can build your own exactly how you want it. I went with the "Fatboy's Special" made "Fatboy's way" with their full veggie selection, and it did not disappoint. The sandwich was stacked with meat, loaded with fresh veggies, and made fresh to order it also comes with a pickle and side of macaroni or potato salad. The staff was quick to take my order and kept things moving without making the experience feeling rushed. I was really excited about going to Ike's to try out their sandwiches but to assert that my…read moreexpectations were not only destroyed but put to shame for ever thinking highly of them would be an understatement. I came in and immediately the woman working in the front I could tell was rude and radiating negative energy. I am witnessing a common theme about this with many of the other people who have left negative reviews about this establishment. You guys also seem to reply and pretend like you resolve the issue but there have been multiple review follow-ups where people claim you guys do not actually make up for the horrible service. Anyway, I walk in and immediately I have to wait a long time to order and I can tell that the guy in front of me has been there a while already. Finally, I place my order and the lady is so awfully rude. Every answer I had for her questions made me feel that I had done something wrong even though I was very nice and just there for a simple thing: to get a sandwich. I usually greet people and ask how they are doing but she got directly to business. I understand that she was busy but she was immediately unwelcoming. "What kind of bread would you like?" (I do not see the bread on the menu when I immediately look up so I reply, "white (I will admit there are many different types of bread but I did not know what they have and usually when I order somewhere I just say white and they know what I am talking about or politely ask for clarification) *she rolls her eyes* "french, sourdough, Dutch?" Then, she asked me if I wanted lettuce and tomato. I replied, "just lettuce please" and again she makes me feel dumb for just ordering. I ask if the sandwich comes with mayonnaise because it was not listed but there were additional items on it and she says that they do not have mayonnaise but another sauce as if mayonnaise is a crazy request. "Can I get a name for the order?" "Jessica" "Jessica?" like my name is ugly or something and not like she could not hear me. At this point I am picking apart everything that she uttered but seriously such an unhappy woman with no hospitality skills. Trust me on this and either experience it yourself or read some other 1-star reviews if you do not believe me. She then walked away as I was still paying so I could not even ask for a receipt or anything. This was essentially the extent of my direct experience with the woman in the front but I witnessed more things happening to other customers while I was waiting for my sandwich for a really long time. Apparently an order kept getting rung up and people kept coming in trying to pick it up but it had already been picked up and the woman would say "communicate this. someone already picked it up" with a huge attitude like it was their fault there was a glitch in the system. I also took notice that there was a big order for 4:30 and when the order was finished, one of the male workers went over and served himself a drink from the soft drinks dispenser and when he was handing the woman all of the many bags, he took a break to take a drink out of his cup. I think it also important that I add she had already been given 5-6 bags and was caring a lot and he was not coughing and desperately needed water and I do not even think there was water in the cup. I will also say though that all of the customers waiting were very friendly and understanding that they were busy and I am too but there was no reason to be rude and lack the principles of basic costumer service. I work with people too and we all have bad days but by the looks of these other reviews, this is a very common occurrence. I am glad people are willing to speak up about this. Another thing I noticed was that apparently someone's order was not in the system and they made the person feel so bad for it and that it was their fault except with all of these problems, it is highly likely that this could have been the establishment's fault but they never even entertained this. I might also add that the woman that took my order when she was making sandwiches I saw her cough into her hands (no gloves mind you) and then grab the *at least it was* wrapped sandwich and put it in the bag. I wanted to try this place because it was close to my campus and I will say that the sandwich tasted good but it was nowhere near worth the horrible aura I experience while being at Ike's. I will surely never spend another dime at Ike's and encourage my friends to not support a business that does not prioritize cleanliness and kindness. Even when they packed up my order, the same man who was taking sip breaks handing a woman her order, was throwing my stuff together and gave me a tiny bag when he saw I was also holding my chips and drink. That was not very thoughtful if you ask me but I would not expect thoughtfulness after what I had already endured from this sandwich joint. I think Ike's would benefit from a personality change and should consider improving their warmth and helpful nature.
