From the time I started to set foot in here, up until I started to become an absolute regular, I've had nothing but good to great experiences every time I come here. The food is pretty decent if not outright DELICIOUS, the service is great, the staff is wonderful, and since there are Mimi's Cafes statewide that had already closed down en masse this year, it's really worth coming here for a nice, relatively more affordable breakfast, lunch and even dinner. They are mostly very busy during the morning, but the lunch and dinner rushes are often quiet (sometimes their lunches are packed), which is very concerning, considering the climate (not meteorological, but rather *economic*) throughout Southern California, *including San Diego proper*. They have pretty good specials, ranging from their seasonal offerings to their lunch and dinner specials. I had a helluva time enjoying their Tres Leches Pancakes whenever I'm willing, and they have some proper delicious coffee and coffee drinks. Their dessert options are also delectable, some of which are very indulgent in my book. There isn't very much to complain about, really, and I'm one to nitpick at times and also have a keen eye for the finer details. The only complaint I really have, is... well... Breakfast is what I can eat all day every day. I like to try different places to see what their breakfast is all about. This morning I tried Mimi's Cafe. I ordered Hickory Smoked Bacon and Scrambled Eggs with Breakfast Potatoes as well as your choice of bread. Sourdough is always my choice. It goes for $17.99. This morning, I also ordered a Cookie Butter Latte. It was sweet and a great balance to all my savory breakfast items. I really enjoyed my breakfast and nothing was too try or overcooked. As usual, I ordered to go so the food was made quickly and was hot. I always appreciate friendly and fast service. The restaurant looked very clean. Mimi's Cafe also gives you a family morning breakfast place vibe that you can also get mimosas. That's on my list of things to try next from there. read more

We LOVE Mimi's. This place is just so delicious for breakfast! The turkey dinner is a must have. They roast that meat so perfectly and the gravy is delicious. Mimi's has always been a family favorite. Now that the kids are grown, visits allow for a better review of choices. This visit was to meet up with an old friend and we actually struggled with our choices because we wanted several items. Needless to say we have a reason to return. So glad that they are on OpenTable to earn my points. My friend checked us in and I was worried I wasn't going to get the credit for the visit, but alas, I did :) The dessert for me was a hit. Attended another luncheon and the service was great for our group size. I wanted to try their Dubai pancakes, but they were out. So I ordered the Dubai muffin but again they were out. Hubs ordered 3 chorizo tacos and I ordered the Quiche Lorraine and a small side salad with blue cheese. We were brave and ventured out for brunch on Mother's Day weekend and were lucky to get reservations at Mimi's Cafe. We were sitted 30 minutes after our reservation time. We were understanding as it was very busy for the special holiday, but the problem was we were sat outside in a very crowded room that had no room for chairs and so loud. Our waitress had so many tables, but she was the sparkle that made the experience better. She very quickly brought drinks and our food was overall tasty. (I was not a fan of the sweet salsa but just ate it like it was and it was perfect) The ambiance is adorable and looks like a neighborhood inside with fake balconies and pictures of bikes and things. Everything was delicious with my roast turkey dinner, it was fresh carved turkey breast with stuffing, cranberry sauce and my choice of two sides, I picked baked potato with butter sour cream and chives and green beans. Also splurged on an order of their carrot raisin madelines which are basically delicious muffin tops. The food was less than $20 as of fall 2025 which is a pretty good deal. For a few dollars more, I could have made it a 3 course meal with soup or salad and choice of dessert but I wasn't that hungry.
