Dennys rolled out a nationwide thing marketing they now offer vegan breakfast. We tried ordering the plant based slam at this location and they gave us regular pancakes. My husband went in to tell them the order was wrong, and a manager confirmed they put egg in all of their batters. That it's just the same multigrain batter they've always used, with different marketing. Just so this restaurant is aware, you are NOT supposed to be adding egg to the plant based batter, and this is going to make a lot of people really sick! read more

The lazy terrible manager came out and made an excuse of "shift change" but yet 5 tables came in after us and already had their food. The entrance is hidden and not from the main road. You have to literally get lost in the truck scales and then find the Flying gas station, drive through it to get there. If you don't do this, thinking there's an entrance on the main road, you will be forced to take I-95. I came in with my kids after a full day at King's Dominion and this was one of few choices to sit down and eat at. Boy did I choose wrong! After waiting for a couple to finish paying at the register, the cashier/hostess sat us at a booth in the back. We were next to another party of 4 in a booth and a party of about 10 at the tables. We saw a waitress taking orders for them, then brought out drinks and told us it'll be just a few minutes before she could come over. No problem. Well, after the tables receive drinks and drink refills, food started coming out for both tables. Even another waitress helped bring more food out, then what looked like the cook brought out more food late. Once the waitress came to check on yhem to see if they needed anything, she brought more refills. After all that, 30+ minutes have gone by and she still hasn't come over to at least get us drinks. My kids were thirsty and hungry, so after we saw more tables being sat and people waiting at the door, we decided to leave. This was absolutely unacceptable service and will not return. Nice stop off the highway while traveling. We had time to sit and eat so the location was great. I could appreciate the decor. (See pictures). Coral was our server. She's worked there for 6 months and along with her exceptional service she took the time to get our questions answered that she did not know the answer to. Thankfully so because my husband and I do not eat meat and we're able to swap out the meat in two entrees for fish. They were delicious. The menu itself doesn't have many plant based options but like I said the kitchen was very accommodating with a good attitude. My daughter had the spaghetti and meatballs and the meatballs were HUGE. My son also liked the chips and queso dip. It's conveniently connected to a gas station/convenience store with video games in the connecting lobby. Again nice stop while on the road. Busy for 8pm on a Saturday evening. Traveling home, I needed to fuel up my car and my body, so here is where I ended up. This Denny's is at the Flying J service center and caters to travelers. Food was good, although a note to the cooks: "Rare" means "cool red center" not - slightly pink in the middle. Service was good, albeit a little slow - like I said, it was busy for 8pm on a Saturday evening. My server offered to get me a new steak but I was starving after not having eaten, traveling 600ish miles so far that day and just wolfed down the food. The restaurant was clean, and it was easy to see the TV's hanging up by the bar area. I have to say of all the Denny's I've been to, this one rocks! Charged TWICE. Wouldn't bother with this location. Service was okay, food was mediocre. For a Denny's it was passable. But the critical failure came from the double charge. They tried to process the card the first time, and their machine froze right after it said approved. The manager assured me that the charge did not go through and that I had to pay again. BIG MISTAKE. Bank confirmed few days later that they had in fact charged twice. Before initiating chargeback, called the store to see if they would rectify the situation as the manager had told me to call her if I ended up getting charged twice. 2 stars is a stretch, but I've also told myself I will only give 1 star if I refused to eat there again. In Dennys case, we're close. I would eat there again if there was nothing else around. My first clue should have been the fact that Dennys is connected to a large truck stop. My wife and I both ordered Moon over My Hammy. Looked great in the menu. But came out as a pile of eggs & cheese on very greasy Texas toast. I also ordered a side of pancake puppies. Also very greasy, and reminded me of something you would get at a County Fair. Most incompetent place I've ever been too. First time I went my card was card twice for our order, and when I called to get a refund I was told it would be faster to dispute the charge through my bank then trying to get a hold of the right person at Denny's and actually get my refund. So after my forever hold on the phone with the bank I got my refund. I get computer glitches happen though so I let it slide and now a few weeks later we tried them again. Mind you we are traveling from out of town both times. Next time I ordered are food and both meals were incorrect when I picked them up. Eggs cooked wrong (picture below), missing food, the whole ordeal. Then I call them about a refund since the one meal won't be eaten and the other one is missing stuff, and of course we already were heading back down the road, we were told we have to wait till next week, it's only Thursday, when the general manager is in to maybe get something done about it. I really tried to give this place a second chance, and I pity the truckers that are at this restaurants mercy for food. Learn from my bad experiences and go elsewhere! Giving 1 start because Zero isn't an option. Service was terrible. Waitress honestly seemed borderline able to be diagnosed with Parkinson's. Too a couple minutes to get seated, we were only the third table in the restaurant to have anyone at it. And instead of walking hot chocolate around and setting it down, she reached across the table with wobbly arms almost spilling the hot liquid. After that we order food, and from there it goes way downhill. At this point a few more tables have filled with people. We sit and wait for the food, and wait, and wait. Finally I walked out to the gas station that's connected to grab a snack and a drink. I come back and after 30+ minutes of waiting for food it finally showed up, but it was cold. The only warm spots were from the heat lamps. During the time we waited the other tables had ordered, eaten, paid, and left. The manager said he would comp our whole check, and take care of the food. Which we all thought there was fresh food being made. There wasn't. And he tried to back out of the offer for comping the meal. All in all this was one of the absolute worst dining experiences I've had. I won't be going back to this one or any Denny's for a while. At least Cracker Barrel has checkers to play. read more
