This is one of several Denny's that has become a traditional Post-Night Out/Backpacking/Causing Trouble stop. As is the case with any Denny's, it's a bit of a challenge to find fresh and healthy options on the menu. But if you come to Denny's hoping to forward your low-calorie goals, you are ruefully misguided. The servers here are always kind and attentive. The Slams are always hot and tasty in that Greasy-Spoon diner kind-of-way. And, as of my last visit, they serve blueberry Cheesecake-Shakes. I would give it a 1 star, but the staff is clearly outnumbered here. We decided on this Denny's instead of the one in Auburn when coming down the mountain from a snow day. They clearly were understaffed, since our waitress even mentioned it. We were seated quickly, and got our drinks. The three of us ordered pancakes, a grand slam, and sourdough melt. 5 minutes later, a family of 6 was seated next to us. The family next to us received their food after about 30 mins,: salads, meals, etc. I only mention this because we ordered "Denny's standard" food, nothing special. When I asked our waitress, she said "let me go check". She came back 10minutes later with the order of pancakes and the Grand Slam (which looked disgusting. Congealed cheese :(...). My sandwich literally came 15 minutes later, with white bread. I ordered a Sourdough Melt. Our waitress: "We ran out of sourdough". Everything about this visit was wrong. She did not charge me for my sandwich (even though I did eat the limp fries, I was starving) because I DO NOT EAT WHITE BREAD. The restaurant was messy, the bathrooms were gross (2 stalls, one out of order), and the food was not good. I would stay away from this Denny's. read more

Yes! i LOVE Denny's- don't judge me! This one was awesome! As we sat there, I begin to read the reviews and came across the very disgruntled Logan C and thought- WOW..I walked in, was seated immediately. No more than 3 minutes later, the lovely Crystal was right there giving us the specials and taking our drink orders. I was coming from camping so I just wanted a full rounded meal and fast and boy was it fast! There was 3 of us gals and 2 of us ordered the new Southern Fried chicken and biscuit with gravy and the other the Grand Slam. MAYBE 15 minutes, I am thinking more like 10- our food was there, pipping hot and delicious! The white gravy on top of the perfectly fried chicken tender and fluffy biscuit was right on time! The manager came over and checked on us in between Crystal refiling our coffee and soda before we could even finish! Great service, great food, great vibe (they have a juke box playing old school), but you can play your own songs for a fee. This particular Denny's was horrid! Greeted fine at the door, and the waitress got our drinks right away but when the Italian sampler came out the meatballs were cold (felt like they were microwaved), along with the mozzarella sticks. The garlic bread and marinara sauce was alright. My fiancé asked for an over easy egg on his slam burger and when it arrived the egg was cooked all the way through and very rubbery. The paddies themselves were cold and definitely NOT fresh. Made him feel sick after a few bites. The skillet I ordered had some uncooked tomatoes in it. And this wasn't even a busy morning so there's no excuse for any of the food to have been undercooked. The rest of the time we were present none of the waitresses checked on us and we had to go to the front desk to get our cheque. Expected better service out of Newcastle. Absolutely the most horrific experience at a Denny's restaurant. Upon arrival; instead of greeting us, the hostess said "have a seat over there!" and pointed to a table. 5 minutes later, she threw the menus on the table. After that, she came by, stood next to us, and didn't say a word. I figure it was in Newcastle, Ca, the service would be better...just the opposite I found out. The back door being open I understand due to out door seating but..... there were flies everywhere buzzing around and on the windows and around us eating. Our order never got back to the kitchen she said and we had a long wait time for it right finally come. We used to really enjoy the service and the food here. Today the food seemed like it had sat for a long time, eggs were soggy and our sons burgers bun was falling apart when he tried to pick it up Half of our table got served about 5 minutes before the rest. We watched our server carry our plates and set them down multiple times to correct stuff in computer and to seat people. Visited this location on 5/28/18. The male server ordered the wrong item for me. When he brought it he admitted he ordered the wrong item however he was trying to force it on me to take it anyway. Nope. I reminded him what I ordered and he left. About 5 minutes later, he comes to our table to ask me what I wanted again. Seriously!!! I told him again. About 10 minutes later I notice him getting a drink and leaving the building. Another 10 minutes goes by (mind you my party is pretty much done eating), so I get up to ask about my meal. A manager then comes over to tell me "the server was sent home" and he did not put in my order. Forget it - I don't want it now that everyone is done eating. Also, there were BUGS all over the inside windows. We had one on our table. It was nasty! The manager did comp our meal which was appreciated but seriously --- that's just horrible service and the bugs took it over the top!!! read more

Heading to Reno and decided to stop at this Denny's, we were seated promptly and the waitress was so nice. She was talking to our 1 year old son and he was the happiest little dude. I didn't get her name but wish I did as she was so nice. The manager/owner was also present, very polite, chatting it up with all of the guests. While eating another group of 3 ladies came in and sat at the booth next to us (locals). They were also super nice and made us feel right at home. It was such a breath of fresh air to experience such wonderful customer service. No doubt. I am not usually a Denny's eater, but it was after 9:00 and I was trying to get back to the Sierra's and had not eaten anything since lunch....Denny's was the only thing open. NASTY NASTY!! Ten minutes into getting our food we notice an ant infestation on the window above our booth. Our waitress's response to this was say "oh we get sprayed once a month" then walks off. Worst dennys I've ever been to! If only i could give zero stars! Horrible customer service skills from the assistant manager! She ignored us and then when she refilled my friends coffee she spilled it on the table all over her and didn't even apologies. Then the assistant manager laughed and walked away. They then started fighting with another customer at the front desk of the dennys at the register ,getting in the womans face. Then the woman said she would be complaining and the employee went on about how the woman was stupid to the very unpleasant assistant manager that spilled coffee on my friend. First of all it took more then ten minutes to get some dam drinks. Second there wasn't even that much people in the restaurant. Third I got a cup of water with lipstick on it. The staff is nice here - especially the Manager (I don't remember her name but she was middle age with glasses and curly hair). Unfortunately they were severely short handed during our visit with only one server on duty and the manager helping her cover about 8 tables. Needless to say it took about 20 minutes to place our order and another 25 or so to receive it so if you're in a hurry and traveling like we were, you better plan on spending some time waiting. I had a veggie burger thing and it was one of the worst I've tasted. My aunt and father had an egg white omelet and some pancake thing and they said there's was OK. Veggie omelet was delicious until I got about a quartet or bit more to the end. It was extremely greasy. Waitress started o well its also water from the veggies. This tells me the veggies are frozen, which is not good for an omelet. Besides my eggs being greasy and as well as my toast the red potatoes were delicious. But service can use some work. read more

Not only is the service excellent and the food always good and timely, the people that work there are exceptionally nice and warm. The manager is one of the very best I have ever had the pleasure of meeting in my 66 years. Besides all of this, its parking lot has the best view ever.
