I hadn't been to Denny's for any meal before, and by coincidence it was the only restaurant I could go to today. It's winter, I don't have a car, and I had to walk there from an old hotel nearby. I was surprised to find that their menu has a lot of variety and feels like an all-day breakfast place. When I asked the server for a recommendation, she suggested trying one of the bowls if I wanted something more balanced. It turned out to be exactly what I was looking for--satisfying both in taste and from a health perspective. The salmon was cooked perfectly, not dry or hard, with a slightly crispy exterior. The balsamic vinaigrette paired beautifully with the salmon, adding a touch of sweetness, and the fruits and vegetables were well portioned, complemented nicely by slices of Swiss cheese. I loved it. The coffee isn't very strong, which might not be everyone's preference, but it was perfect for me. And on top of everything, the server was especially friendly! read more

She was really excited about the pancakes, she got a free byo grand slam: 2 bacon, 2 pancakes, english muffin and hashbrowns. I got the same, but eggs, gluten free english muffin and potatoes. I will say that the potatoes were delicious, crispy and great. But the gf english muffin was basically inedible. It was corn based and tasted like corn bread made from plastic. The eggs were tiny for 2 eggs imo. Sausage was good. Her food however, the delicious pancakes weren't. They were bland, stale and not tasty. The worst customer service I've experienced at a Denny's with the longest waiting time to get a table. Not only did it take forever to get a table to be seated (there was nobody to even assist for a long time, the restaurant was NOT full), but service was extremely poor and slow. I had to call the waiter over for them to come. Food took a long time to come as well and quality of food wasn't great. When it was time for the bill, no communication or whatsoever from the server. Had to call them over and again, experienced poor service. Their excuse for the lack of organization and professionalism in store was because they're changing shifts so that's why it's a mess. This place is located Dixie road and Matheson below a hotel. Getting into this place can be confusing on the GPS and the parking can be tough if the hotel got over booked. As we walked into this outlet we were greeted by a waiter that we could get seated but may have to wait for a minimum of 30 minutes before he could come to us for taking the order. We were surprised to see that 90% of the tables in the outlet was empty. Definitely we were taken aback hearing that. This franchise is CLEARLY understaffed as there was only one waiter on ground on a day when they had a promotion going. But other than the initial greeting the waiter was good at taking orders from us. We went in as a group of 6 so we ordered a lot of food like Pancakes, Chicken Skillets, shakes and omelets. The taste of the food was as expected from Denny's but the items were not served at the right temperature. The inside of the outlet was maintained ok. The price of the items were standard just that we were billed for an additional coffee which we were never served. When Asked about it, the waiter made the coffee to-go and gave it to us. The service is really poor here. Not sure if she just started her shift/whatnot, but I was greeted by a girl with green hair who was behind the hostess desk with her puffer on. As soon as I came through the door, she told me to have a seat and muttered something. She never came back. Not sure why she didn't seat me personally, as it seemed as tho the restaurant was pretty empty. Anyway, another Indian female server didn't show up 'til a good 10mins later and she actually proceeded to seat another couple who arrived AFTER I did. I actually felt bad for the server 'cause she stated that she was the ONLY person scheduled for the whole dining room...during a promo. She looked stressed and no one should be working under those circumstances! There is absolutely ZERO excuses, especially when management should know that there's a special event going on. Coffee was too bitter/acidic! I asked for milk, but I honestly couldn't get to the bottom of the cup. Not sure if it was fresh or not, but it was hot. It just didn't taste good esp without strong dairy to mask the taste. As for the Beyond Meat Burger, they don't really know how to do protein style properly. Lettuce and red onion was wilted. Denny's is located at the north west corner of Matheson and Dixie as part of the Sandman hotel. I've often noticed that Sandmans have Denny's and/or Chop Steakhouses and this place is no different. I do stay at Sandman hotels from time to time whether in Winnipeg or Richmond, BC and sometimes I do go to Denny's in other cities. When I say other cities I mean other cities in Canada. Rarely will I go to a Denny's in the US because there are many other options to have great breakfasts in the US so really my only Denny's comparisons will be made with other Denny's in Canada. Sadly this Denny's in Mississauga is probably the worst I've been to besides perhaps the one at Courtney Park and Hurontario. These Mississauga Denny's are far as I'm concerned are not on par with say the Denny's in either Headingley or Winnipeg, Manitoba. Both of those locations do their country fried steak better whether it be by portion size, quality or simply all around experience. This Matheson location I had to get up and ask for hot sauce. I never had my coffee filled unless I asked for it. Water was not offered unless we asked. There was no check up to see if everything was ok. If there was I wouldn't have had to get up to ask for hot sauce. I had neglected to order a side of sausage but since we never saw our server again until our plates were served I had asked for it then thinking that it wouldn't take very long. Well I waited and waited and eventually I gave up and they were never given. Thankfully they weren't on the bill. A couple sitting near us that came after us were served before us and left before us. The server serving us I feel didn't give us the attention we should have had. Again, not comparing to the breakfast places but if I did bring up places like Snooze, IHOP, Cracker Barrel, I can safely say service here wasn't good. The food here, not as good as other Denny's locations as I had mentioned locations in Manitoba which I've reviewed before. My wife had ordered the Super Bird and when I had asked for sourdough I was told they were out. If that's the case what kind of bread was her Super bird served with? This location just basically affirms my previous position that the Denny's in both Mississauga locations I know (Courtney Park and this Dixie location) are quite lacking if not in the service, definitely in the standard for their simple dish of country fried steak. The portion here is barely the size of a quarter pound burger. The Manitoba locations are much more generous. I could tell because I went back to look at my Denny's reviews there and the photos are telling. Dropped in for a late dinner on Tuesday. Everything took a long ass time, from ordering the food to receiving it. Restaurant wasn't even busy. Our server was nice but clearly they were understaffed in the restaurant and there was only one chef. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak omelette which was yummy, it was very cheesy and had lots of steak and veggies. Hash browns were delicious. Firstly I totally get that it's Jan 1st so it's obviously going to be busy, we called in and were told there's a 10 min wait. Good job on front staff providing the right expectation on seating wait time. Once we were here the front of house told us it would take 30 mins for the food to come out, which is a decent time to wait for 4 breakfast items. So we ordered French toast with eggs, a Philly cheesesteak, a choconana pancake and an omelet. Its now been 1.5 hours and we are still waiting for our breakfast, these are all items that are made with pre-made batter in which the cooking only requires a scoop of batter into a pan and cook it for 3mins. Eggs are even faster. We're then told at the 1.5 hr mark that there are 30 orders ahead of ours. However 4 tables who ordered 5 mins before us had their food 1 hour earlier. One piece of advice for this Denny's location: when you know your kitchen is behind on orders then have the front desk give the menu to ppl waiting so they have a head start. Also communication between the kitchen and front desk would help the front desk set the correct food wait time expectations Also have your servers understand how to 'reset' time by stopping by the table and letting us know the status once 30 mins have passed 'hi guys just wanted to let you know your food is being worked on'. The manager did come by to apologize and we were told we could stay if we 'want' to. Denny's as a chain is not great to begin with but this Denny's in particular sucks more then most. This one is attached to the hotel we're staying st so here we go on a Friday morning. It's not really crowded at all but the hostess seems overwhelmed. She sits us, but without menus etc. When I walk up to her 10 minutes later she tells me she's bringing those items to us now but she is the only hostess. The place feels dirty overall. We get no placements. 15 minutes later a waitress ambles kinda near to our table and someone in our group asks if she can take our order. As if just struck with a new idea she says sure. The food takes forever and it's meh at best, but it is food, which is why they get one star. With so many other choices near this hotel this will be our last trip (ever) to a Denny's! This is a fairly new Denny's so we wanted to try it out. I LOVE THIS PLACE. It's the nicest, cleanest, and friendliest Denny's I've been to. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and seated. The seats are really nice and comfortable; all the furniture is visibly new and clean. The inside area has a few TVs to keep you entertained. Once seated, the hostess told us that our waitress would be with us shortly. While looking at the menu, the restaurant manager came over to us to see if we were doing alright. The menu offers so many choices: pancakes, sandwiches, soups, burgers, etc. Their milkshakes are really great too. We got the Invisible Woman Slam from their Fantastic Four menu, half nachos, and strawberry pancake puppies. The serving sizes are huge and food is great. I was pleasantly surprised with the pancake puppies because they were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Overall, great experience with wonderful food and service. The worst Denny's I have ever been too. After being seated with my child I waited 30 min on a quiet day. A waiter never approached me until I got up and put on my jacket. Then I was asked me if I was ready to place an order. The simple fact that it was quiet and a simple glass of water wasn't offered, is absolutely horrible. Not to mention 3 staff members were simply standing near the front having a conversation rather than tending to guests. The two women beside me stated that their service was also slow. I've been here several times before and have never had great or a simple experience. I will not be coming back. I do however recommend the Brampton location on queen street. When our food arrived the bacon was burnt to a crisp, eggs were runny and tasted terrible, jam was gross. The entertainment was the waitress YELLING at each other over where the coffee pot was. I've only been to a few different Denny's locations but I don't know why this place is only three stars because the food is absolutely AMAZING. They blew the basics of breakfast out of the water. The hash browns were woofed down alongside the eggs, in fact, I literally swallowed the entire dish whole. Their grand slams are a MUST. I'm itching to return to this Denny's and this location ALONE. It's attached to a hotel which threw my boyfriend and I off at first when we parked (for free mind you) but the food quickly made us change our minds. The place was nice and cozy, it's more spacious than one would think from the exterior. The waiters were straight to the point and efficient - perfect for those early morning drop-ins prior or post sleep. I'm 100% returning to this location. EDIT: I returned to this location 2 more times since and the waiters and waitresses were lovely as per usual. However, the food quality had diminished since my first visit. This has a convenient location in close proximity to the 401. It is part of the Sandman hotel, so parking can be a big of a challenge but it is free. Nice lobby. The restaurant looks new and was clean. I was impressed with the washrooms as well. Unfortunately that's where it ends. I was told to take any seat I would like, as it wasn't very busy. My server seemed to be put off by ordering a Diet Coke and waiting a few minutes to order while getting some work done on my iPad. The wi-fi at this location was almost non existent. I was getting a connection but it was extremely weak. Trying to load any page was painfully slow. I had to tether from my cell phone. OK one problem solved. I had to ask for a re-fill twice before I actually got one. Sadly my server looked like he "checked out" sometime earlier in the evening.
