Ron's #1 goal is to be helpful and he has gone above and beyond to be exactly that. I've actually never experienced customer service quite this great. You'd think I work for him writing a review this glowing, but in all reality - I just want the nice guys (and gals) to finish first in life. Ron is certainly more than one of the good ones. Screw the bullies and shoddy contractors who upsell you items you don't need. Call Ron. He doesn't have a bad bone in his entire body. Holsey Electric is a joke -- and not a funny one. Johnny…read morerolled up through my Choice Home Warranty because my basement outlets were dead. Two hours of poking around and the man had nothing. Then the real show started: my wiring was "all wrong," the entire thing had to be ripped out and replaced -- oh, and wouldn't you know it, that's the part my warranty doesn't cover. But lucky me, he had his business card ready in case I wanted to pay him directly for the job. I threw him out of my house. Twenty minutes later a competent electrician from a different company walked in and had the actual answer in 15 minutes: one bad outlet. He swapped it. Everything works. Let that sink in. Two hours of "expert" work vs. fifteen minutes and a single outlet. He either has no business touching a panel, or he saw a homeowner he could scare into a fat rewiring job and tried to pocket the work himself. Maybe both. Do yourself a favor -- call literally anyone else.

I recently got a quote to fix a small gas leak at a fitting that goes to the water heater…read more Duke had already come out and told me exactly where the leak was, and that it was caused by the pipe dope drying out after 40 years. The gentleman quoted me $1,695 in labor, as all the parts would be reused just refitted. I left work early, drove down there, disassembled, cleaned, and refitted them myself in 45 minutes. Duke came out inspected and turned the gas on. $1,695 for 45 minutes of work is disgraceful. You are taking advantage of people. I will be watching and reporting if you try to take my review down.

We bought a new house knowing that there was electric work to be done…read more During the process of getting estimates (which is a pain) the people from Cullen were again and again the most responsive and the kindest. Their estimate also came in among the lowest and it was the most detailed explanation of what they would be doing. During the process they kept me appraised regularly and clearly about the many changes ( Not their fault - the guy who DIY-ed the electric in our house was clearly inept) Everyone who came to the house over the three week process to get everything repaired was polite and helpful. They definitely made dealing with a stressful situation manageable and the guarantee on their work gives me piece of mind. Highly recommended if you need Electric work! (BTW - The only negative review I can find is about a single driver, and not about the companies electric work. In all my dealings with the company and Andrew Cullen that's something he wouldn't tolerate as he's a big advocate of customer service.)

I was charge $1400 to have my sump pump replaced (a 20 min job). When the technician was at my…read morehouse he mentioned the total charge as I had not received a quote from the company. I commented that $1400 seemed pretty high. He pulled up the cost of the sump pump on his device. The sump pump the technician installed was $350. He said that if I provided my own pump I would be charged $600 to have them come out and install it. So, my question was, what are the additional $450 for? I am ok paying it, if I know what I'm paying for, but the information from the technician just wasn't adding up to the full charge. I reached out to Five Star to ask for an invoice. It came with a one line summary of the total cost of the work. I asked if they could please send an itemized invoice and explained the reasons I just mentioned above. After a bit of insisting, they forwarded my request to the manager. This was his response: ---- Hi Veronica My name is Garrett and I am reaching out to you regarding a sump pump we did for you on Sunday. I understand there was some confusion about the charges, I am here to help! So as far as a full breakdown goes, We pay around $350 -$400 for the sump pumps, and labor comes in right around $600. The remainder of the charge goes towards our 1 year workmanship warranty, administrative tasks such as tracking, scheduling and being a support system here for you if anything were to happen with it. We stand behind our work 100%. All of our pricing is flat rate, so breaking it down can be challenging in the sense of the charge does not change if we ended up taking longer to install the pump for you. We do it this way for the customer experience, as some plumbing companies do charge per half hour or hour, and can exploit the consumer by 'taking their time' so to speak to run up the bill. We always try to be transparent with our pricing, and just know that we are here to stand behind the workmanship and product we installed for you. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Best, Garrett Sowers Customer Relations Specialist Five Star Home Services (614) 245-3954 garrett.sowers@fivestargroup.com ---- My response to his: You charge $400 for a one-year workmanship warranty??? That is literally the cost of a brand new pump!! I'm not sure how that doesn't sound ridiculous to you! I also pay the $40 monthly "membership" but there doesn't seem to be much benefit in that either. It just seems unusual that a company refuses to provide an itemized invoice for work performed. I am sure that if you had work done by anyone, you would hope to be able to see what you are being charged for. I need my heating and air unit replaced but I am very glad I had the sump pump experience first. There is absolutely no way I will have Five Star do any other work for me, especially not a high dollar repair! I will find another company that is honest and isn't so hesitant, or flat out refuse, to provide an itemized invoice. It's just a disappointment.
