The experience was like day and night. We were welcomed warmly by the clerk, who took us over to a table and showed us a catalog of choices. She listened attentively as we explained what we were searching for then showed us what was in stock. We decided upon fixtures from the catalog, ordered them, and had them arrive within two weeks as promised. My family recommended Batavia Electric Supply, being long-time customers of buying wiring and installation supplies for DIY lighting. This place has pretty much everything you need in once stop, including helpful service.

Remember the Julia Roberts movie Pretty Woman? Remember when she tried to go shopping and the…read morepretentious sales woman wouldn't help her? Well, my experience today was that. Keep in mind, unlike the Julia Roberts character, I'm not a hooker...I'm actually very well educated and have a dream job. From the second I stepped foot in the door, I was treated like I was interrupting a stem cell transplant. Like the sales clerks were in the middle of some heroic life save procedure and I had the audacity to interrupt them. As they flipped through their catalog and looked over their readers at me with distain dripping from their faces, I realized I had had come to the wrong store in which to "shop local". (According to the big sign on the door, they'd like you to believe they want you to "shop local". Not so much. They flat out told me to go to Amazon.) Here's the deal. They sell light fixtures. They do not cure cancer. It's lighting. Not doing open heart surgery. Selling wires, shiny stuff and light bulbs. Heroes? Elite world changers? Nobel prize winners? Nope. Rude sales women. Seriously. Save yourself the frustration and go to Amazon. Or Restoration Hardware. Or, Menards for the love! Just DO NOT BOTHER THESE PEOPLE. You are not worth their precious time or attention. They must be about the daunting task of....ummm...not saving lives.

I recently got a quote to fix a small gas leak at a fitting that goes to the water heater…read more Duke had already come out and told me exactly where the leak was, and that it was caused by the pipe dope drying out after 40 years. The gentleman quoted me $1,695 in labor, as all the parts would be reused just refitted. I left work early, drove down there, disassembled, cleaned, and refitted them myself in 45 minutes. Duke came out inspected and turned the gas on. $1,695 for 45 minutes of work is disgraceful. You are taking advantage of people. I will be watching and reporting if you try to take my review down.
