My husband and I were camping at Jedidiah Park and since it had been raining (and I am Diabetic) I had to eat something. He was going to wait in the car with our dog and I went to eat in. It wasn't busy at 6pm, no one inside eating. I ordered a small steak, the mashed potatoes, sweet corn and an Iced Tea. I also ordered to go a Country fried steak for the husband. I received my meal 5 minutes after I ordered. I took a bite of the bread however it wasn't toasted well. I cut the steak and noticed it was almost raw. I ordered med. rare. I took a bite and it was raw and still cold. My mashed potatoes were mush and my sweet corn looked bland. Sweet corn is supposed to be bright yellow, not white. I called the waitress over and told her the potatoes were mush. She asked if I wanted the fries. I said NO. I also told her the steak was raw. I then told her I was going to leave and to cancel the To-Go order. The only thing that was delicious was the Iced Tea. I had drank about 1/4 of the glass. When I told my Husband about the food he just about hit the roof. He is a retired Chef. It seems that no matter which Denny's I have gone to the cook can not cook and needs to be trained to do so. There is a lot of sheepish grin for the cheese, which i am told contain casin, which some say like the crak cocaine of good food. i enjoy many cup of coffee to wash down the smell of suffering. read more

Customer service at this Denny's is great, always quick to greet and seat you, the food arrives quickly, servers check up to ask how the food is, or refill drinks, the food itself is always tasty (Im a fan of the breakfast menu), if Im passing thru the area I make plans to stop here...far better than the places Ive tried in Brookings. read more

Some odds smells were coming from the back area, I don't want to know what exactly; I just know they weren't good. Food portions seem to have been shrunk again, looking more and more like cookie cutter fast-food. Service was fair so it earned a one-star improvement. read more

We never had the same waiter twice. First guy asked us what we wanted less than a minute after being seated at a dirty table, then disappeared. Empty glasses sat at the edge of the table unfilled for 10 minutes. Had to track someone down for refills. Food sat under heat lamp for several minutes while our waiter stood idly by. Our toast was burned and the new waitress said she'd bring more. We never got it. Food left pools of grease behind. We were never asked if we needed anything or how the food was, which was near inedible. We waited 10 minutes for our bill. None was brought. Don't bother eating here. Was there 8/21/16 (Sun.) dinner time.Set out for good sea food tried 2 places locals recommended both 45min wait,, ,familiy of 4 was hungry at 6:30 PM.Was greated with big warm welcome.Seated quick,each of us found something on the menu to satisfy.Order came in a decent amount of time.We all like our food ,so the cooks did good.I never go to places like these ...sheri's,peddler,elmers,ect.I want the unique home cooked meal you get from a mom and pop place.My point is cooks made the food by the corporate book and All the people we encountered was over the top friendly,warm ,eager to please,I cant say enough about how everyone we had seen took there job so serious.They are proud to work there, and doing a great job was there number one mission.The staff killed it. read more

Let me start by saying I've never been a fan of Denny's. I've always went there as a last resort which was the case this time. Wow, either this is a serious deviation from the norm, or Denny's has stepped up their game since I last partook. I was so Impressed we went the next night for dinner as well. Both of our servers were great, but what really got me was the food quality. We had just come up from Morgan Hill (south of San Jose) where we dined at a rather pricey (but good) Italian Bistro downtown, the food here was just as good for a 3rd the price.... Everything was fresh and the presentation (really, presentation at Denny's) was awesome. The food actually looked liked the advertisement photos. It wasn't a fluke as we went the next night, different dishes and servers with the same results. Now I will be forced to sample the local Denny's when I return home to see if it's an overall change or this is just the outlier. read more

Typical Dennys, but they have improved overall the last couple of years with the new owner. The diner was upgraded with new floors and upholstery too. We used to stay away but the improvements in service and quality have us stopping in occasionally now. read more

Pretty sure this is the nicest restaurant in Crescent City. A Denny's is a Denny's is a Denny's when it comes to food. It's okay at best, greasy - salty - and stomach torture inducing at worst. But you know what to expect when you come into one. The menu is huge and weird, but it's sort of an American institution. When we came in we beat a rush, and we got our food pretty quickly. Our server came back and asked how we were doing at least 2 or 3 times, and that's a major victory at a Denny's. I agree with a previous Yelper; stay away at all costs. The service was bad. took a while to seat us and then it even took forever to get us menus and not to mention drinks. When you're from out of the area and on the road for the last 7 hours you think Denny's might be the only place that would have reliable service and food...That wasn't the case here! It started off good, but then the waiter decided that we no longer existed. The food was tasty, but we ordered drinks-- and never got them. They showed up on the bill, just not on our table. Sorry, dude, but if it's not on my table, I'm not paying for it. The guy delivered our food, and was never seen again. No offers to refill the water we were given almost immediately, no asking how everything was, not even delivering the coffee and milk that were ordered, nothing, we were tempted to walk out before paying because the guy even took a long time to finally reappear long enough to give us the bill after we had to ask someone else to get it for us. This is the third time I have been here trying to give this Denny's another chance. The customer service is great but the food is not. My pancakes were burnt and they barely give you any hash browns. The last time we got nachos and they were nothing like the picture and tasted like shit with barely anything on them. They need to work with the cooks and figure out what is going on. read more

This place has to be the worst Dennys ever ! When we arrived our hostess didnt even smile or great us geez if you don't like your job that's not my fault ! Our server was very nice. This isn't a terrible Denny's. The server was nice and took our order quickly but she had to come back to ask if I wanted bacon or sausage when I'd already told her I wanted sausage. When I got my food, there was bacon on the plate but I just ate it anyway. read more

The review before this that said the menus were clean couldn't be any further from the truth, I've touched toddlers hands that were less sticky then that piece of plastic. Good customer service, felt bad for my waiter who I over heard was working way too long of a shift but he still came to us with good attitude even at midnight. I watched someone's food get microwaved and that's never a good sign . I ordered a well done double cheeseburger and got the greasiest wettest peice of angus I've ever seen. You'll most likely have a better time across the street at McDonald's. read more

I went into Dennys one time, the waitress was amazing. She was annoyed that I had ordered a meal with like a thousand different substitutions. My only complaint about this Denny's is that it will be closed when you don't expect it to be. Last Christmas it was closed, so I went to the Apple Peddler, which was disappointing. Went to go eat there a few weeks ago, and it was closed for major cleaning or some such. Also, disappointed they don't have wi-fi. Apparently, their system got hacked, so they just shut it down a while back. BUT, the food is really good, as long as you're not expecting gourmet. It's a good Denny's with decent prices. And the service is great. Much better than the Apple Peddler in town. Check to see if Denny's is open first. read more

This is one of the best Denny's I've been to. Coffee was offered many times. Chicken fried steak was delicious. My 6 year old ate everything on her plate. Bathrooms were clean and so was the rest of the dinner. Staff was polite and they were all working. I'd definitely suggest people to eat here. read more

I find it surprising to read bad reviews on this Denny's. I came up from Sacramento 9 years ago and the first place we stopped was this very Denny's. I've never really been a big fan, since the ones in sacramento were in my opion, just mediocre. This Denny's surprised me, their service was very good, waitress/servers were attentive, menu prices were good and the food very good. I'm usually one that always orders a T-bone steak but settled for their double burger and loved it so much that it's what I order every time I go in there nowadays. I've never had bad service here or bad food. It's always clean, very relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. It hasn't mattered what time we have come in for food, breakfast to a very late night takeout meal - always good food. read more

This is a nice place to have an informal sit-down meal. The location is easy to find and the parking lot is spacious. The interior is updated and clean. Service for me was fine. I was seated promptly and my server checked in with me multiple times after the food was served. Should I find myself in Crescent City again, I'd consider stopping here. read more

The worst! My hubby & I were seated, ordered our beverages & our meals, received our drinks & were forgotten. 20 minutes later, the manager asked us if there was a problem, so he refilled our drinks. We had a clear view of the kitchen & there were anywhere from 1 to 5 unprofessional-appearing cooks in the back, running back & forth, throwing stuff around, microwaving various items -- total chaos. 25 minutes later -- 45 minutes total -- our own waiter never bothered to check in with us & there was still no food! The service is always fantastic especially between the hours of midnight - 6 am while the best server Dennys has ever hired, Courtney is in there Kickin ass and takin orders later. Your Crescent City CA Dennys is an embarrassment. Terrible service, rude waitress, a MANAGER talking down when I politely complained about paying 10 dollars for a salad that didnt hold a cup of lettuce. The picture on the menu and what I ordered was a JOKE. To remedy this the manager tried throwing a handful of lettuce on top of the Chicken Avocado (2 tiny slices of avocado?) salad like it would make a difference then getting MAD AT ME when I said, I refused to pay for that, please take it back. Waitress refusing to take an empty cup by throwing her hands up in the air and then slamming a drink down in front of me without slowing down. My family is not rich. Going out to eat is special to us. I will never enter another Denny's again. What an outrageous joke. THANKS DENNY's for ruining what could have been a nice outing for my family. I hope the people reading this realize that by entering a Denny's, they are condoning this terrible operation. They allow customers to be treated in a very undignified manner. This place is really hit or miss. The food was pretty good when I went there earlier but the service was really bad. We had a young man who forgot our drinks orders and we had to tell him a couple of times before we got out drinks. I normally don't do reviews but I thought his one was worthy. My friend and I had not been to a Denny's in years so we thought we'd give this a try while on our 6 day road trip. The staff was unfriendly to start. When my order came, there was something weird (green) on my toast, which was actually just dry bread. I ordered sausage patties and they didn't come with my meal initially. When it did, there was only one patty. When I made mention of that, the waiter said "well, I guess they only made you one." There was Swiss cheese on my omelette instead of cheddar. Finally, we asked to speak to a manager. He came over and did not even introduce himself. He didn't apologize or act sorry at all. Instead he couldn't believe the waiter was rude to us and barely gave a discount. Should've offered the meal for free. Generally inept. Skip this Denny's! read more
