Pancakes

Indoor table service diner with some additional bar seating. Excellent pancakes and coffee. Friendly service and clean bathrooms. Located just off the 101 north of the Klamath River (on the west end of the western segment of SR 169).

We came here on the way to the Trees of Mystery and sooo glad we did! The cutest small town diner. We were greeted so warmly when we walked in by the owner and the cooks as well and the service was superb throughout. We didn't even have to ask for coffee refills. The inside is so cozy yet super comfortable and very clean. They were playing beautiful, peaceful, soul inspiring music which really set the vibe. The pancakes here at the main attraction, they are so thick and fluffy and perfectly shaped! The cinnamon sugar one is a show stopper! But everyone said they loved everything they ordered. If you are in the area, this one is a must!

Fluffy delicious pancakes! They should be called cake pans!

This place is a must have! So glad we stopped by! Cozy little restaurant with a super awesome vibe! The food is amazing the pancakes are so delicious fluffy and perfect! My wife had the cinnamon sugar pancakes and they were a game changer! I'm so bummed I live 10 hours away! This made our Redwood trip complete! Also the owner is sweetheart and she takes major pride in providing amazing service! We will definitely be back!

Fry Bread breakfast with bacon.

What an amazing place. The Fry Bread breakfast was delicious! I made the rookie mistake of asking for toast, but was immediately informed by the charming owner that toast would not be necessary. Good thing, too - it was huge! Run, don't walk to the Log Cabin Breakfast Express. It's a quintessential local diner. P.S. we're going again tomorrow.

Resteraunt front with sign visible from the highway and access from both town exits.

Food was plentiful and hearty and the ladies that wait the tables are friendly. Just what we needed after a morning of hiking.

The place was super busy when I arrived there were people waiting outside, which is always a good sign but since I was dining solo, I got seated right away with no wait at all. The atmosphere inside is warm, cozy, and welcoming, with really cool décor featuring cars and car photos that give the restaurant personality and a fun, nostalgic vibe. It feels comfortable rather than fancy, the kind of place where you can relax, sip your coffee, and enjoy your food without feeling rushed. I ordered the shrimp and Swiss cheese omelette with jalapeño, and it was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and perfectly cooked. The portion was generous, and it came out piping hot and surprisingly fast considering how busy they were. The coffee was amazing too rich, fresh, and exactly what you want with a hearty breakfast. What really stood out was the service. The servers were attentive, friendly, and on top of everything despite the crowd. They made sure coffee stayed filled, checked in at the right moments, and kept things moving smoothly without making it feel rushed or chaotic. Another big plus: the prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality and portion sizes. It's rare to find a place that balances great food, fast service, cozy ambiance, and affordability this well. Overall, I'd easily rate it around 4.5 stars. If you're driving along Highway 101 or anywhere near Brookings, this spot is absolutely worth the stop. It's busy for a reason great food, great vibe, and great service all in one place.

Hubs had booked marked this place as a place to eat while driving through. Boy, were we ever glad we stopped!!!They are five stars from all angles!! 1. Because we were traveling with our dog hubs planned to send me and the kid inside to eat. But he went in and asked and they said to bring our dog in. They set up a table for us. 2. As if their hospitality wasn't amazing enough their food was top notch yum! We got smash burgers and oh, oh my! Layers of patty, cheese, pickles, onions and lettuce oh my!! Can you tell, I seriously enjoyed the food! 3. After a hearty meal of burgers and fries we had to try the Indian Bread with cinnamon on it, which me being from Michigan sounded like an elephant ear. Whatever it was it was amazeballs! And it was gone in seconds with the 3 of us eating it. 4. As if all of this wasn't good enough our dog got a lot of love and we ordered her two patties! And they brought her out a gigantic bowl of water!!! Hubs, kid, myself and the dog give this two thumbs and two paws up!!!! 5. Book mark this place now and eat here later. Good grub!! And I didn't even get to try to chicken wings or tacos as I was too into my burger!!

S-L-O-O-O-W Service [Klamath CA]…read more So it looks like the restaurant has rebranded because the sign in front now says Blue Ox Cafe and is part of the Trees of Mystery across the street. The restaurant is next door to a vintage roadside motel called Motel Trees. Inside the restaurant is spacious and had just reopened for the season this Spring. I had the Babe's Burger w/ Tater Tots and hubby the Cheeseburger Sliders small plate. While the food was good the kitchen service, on the other hand, was very slow... holy moly, it took at least between 30-45 mins to get our food. We were probably dining at the same time as the recent 1-star reviewer who complained about the wait. We were there on a Sunday during the Memorial Day weekend. Everyone was waiting for their food... and it's even worse when families have kids. We came to dine here because it was convenient and just across the street from Trees of Mystery. Our server was nice and sweet though and totally not at fault for the long wait from the kitchen. Hopefully you won't experience the same as many of us did that weekend when you dine at the Blue Ox Cafe (aka Forest Cafe). Review #3775

My waitress was a super kind and sweet woman who was attentive, but not annoyingly so. She got me my food rather fast - from my appetizer (the fried pickles, which were delicious!) to my burger! She even brought me out a pitcher of my drink so I could give myself refills.

A waterfront restaurant that has improved its preparation and taste of its menu…read moresince its 101 days. Pleasantly surprised. my wife had the cheese quesadilla which is one of the better quesadillas i've tasted...perfectly cooked. I had the 3 layer hero sandwich which I thoroughly enjoyed. The potato salad that came with it was poor and without taste. If there is a dessert menu, we never saw it. service was top notch and she made time to answer a few questions. I would definately go back there. The one thing I noted, the view of the Pacific was hampered by the dirtyness of the windows. They could use a thorough cleaning inside and out.

Let me start with the good things. The location is wonderful as you can look out at the ocean and…read morethat's always a plus. The hobo breakfast was a generous serving and quite tasty. I suggest asking for their green salsa to top it off. The biscuits and gravy half order was also generous although the gravy could use a little more flavor. The food generally was very good and our service was excellent. But they really need to address the condition of the restaurant and the bathroom. The booths are obviously worn and one was completely unavailable because the seats were missing. Worse than that was the condition of the bathroom. We ate breakfast at 9:30 AM and it was obvious the bathroom had not been cleaned from the night before. It was disgusting. It always gives one a slightly uncomfortable feeling about the overall attention to cleanliness elsewhere. I hope the owners will make an effort to bring the facility up to par with the food. Then this would be five stars all the way.

Breakfast review: Food: just fine, no complaints. Eggs benny…read morewas tasty and cooked properly with homemade cheese sauce instead of hallondaise. Nice touch. Service: our server was kind and pleasant. Food arrived in a timely manner. Ambiance-average for the coast. I gave a 3 star because, while the breakfast was on par, later on in the day... not so good. We ate breakfast and headed south. Dessert review: On our return trip north at dinner time, we stopped in to get the chocolate cake as we were celebrating our 31st anniversary on 3/19. Husband went in without me and asked for chocolate cake. At first the worker began to cut "unusually small pieces" at ANY price point. My husband spoke up about how small the size. When the worker rung it up, the price was $30 for 2x , yes 2x, let me repeat that...2x pieces of cake!!!!! She had a bad attitude, she was rude, she was put out to provide good service to a paying customer. She justified $30 by saying the cake was from Cheese Cake Factory. I recognize good labor is hard to find on the coast. (I'm certain I've seen this same chocolate cake and cheese cake for sale at our local Grocery Outlet...about $30) I'm sorry for the restaurant that this is the best employee they could find. When my husband came out ... he was p.o.'ed. Then he told me the cake was a few dollars short of our breakfast price and $30 was charged to my card. I FLIPPED A GASKET AND WAS EVEN MORE P.O.'ed. We are locals and we feel SO RIPPED OFF AND TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF! My husband thinks he was hustled and gouged and overcharged BECAUSE HE WAS! Unfortunately, I don't think we'll return. Word to the wise, if the price isn't printed in the menu...buy at your own risk.
