They have a niche area right across the street from trees of mystery and is part of the small hotel that's also right there. It is not a place to consider a must eat at, yet if you are hungry and waiting for trees of mystery to open or staying at the hotel.. it's convenient. The breakfast menu has like 5 options and it is all classic diner food options; omelet, hashbrowns, toast, etc. The food at best is okay; the coffee is hot at least. I was expecting better tasting food with such a limited menu but it wasn't. The waitress was pleasant enough to get the job done, but didn't go beyond taking the order, dropping the food off, and checking us out. Aka not even polite chit chat.. "how's the drive?".. "beautiful morning today"..

Okay, first of all they have rebranded and it's amazing! Now, the restaurant is called The Blue Ox Cafe. The place is very clean and you can tell they put a lot of needed love into the place. The staff was amazing and very friendly. We were expecting basic diner food, and we were pleasantly surprised at enjoying some amazing food which was cooked perfectly! Also, a great local beer selection. Our family of 6 (with a lot of picky eaters) all found something they enjoyed, and we even had a delicious brownie Sunday to end the meal on point. Try this place out if you are ever going to Trees of Mystery or just passing by on the 101

The food was mid, overall it is overpriced. I got the clam chowder and it came in a small cup that looked like a tea cup. . The burgers tasted alright but the cheese wasn't fully melted and tasted weird. The water seems to also be sour and the bathroom sink water looked yellow.... But my servers was super kind. The lady with the blue key necklace (unsure of her name) was very attentive and asked frequently about how we were feeling or if we needed anything. There was another woman who ignored eye contact and overall rude attitude. (Unsure what her was too) Great place to stop by and get food after a long drive.

We didn't expect a lot as it is pretty much the only restaurant near The Trees of Mystery (go there if you haven't already!). The waitress was super friendly and only one of two for the whole place. But the service was quick and efficient despite this. I had the Chainsaw (roast beef, bacon on grilled sourdough). Omg it was soooo good and the fries were awesome! I especially loved the ceiling where it appears like you are under water. Super fun and quirky ambiance.

First our server was awesome, very kind and attentive. The appetizers were ok with the Mac and cheese wedges were delicious as well as the fried zucchini, the mushrooms were ok and the cheese sticks were frozen in the middle, BUT they did give us new ones and even had extra in the basket. Atmosphere was wack and the air smelled a bit funky. I would trust them to deep fry food but to thoroughly cook meat.

We must have stumbled in on a good day, I am surprised at the previous reviews. I will say that we got there when the restaurant opened. We were greeted warmly by the hostess. We ordered and picked our table. Hubby got a plain burger & fries, he said it was quite good and the fries were fresh. I ordered a bacon turkey melt & fries. My sandwich and fries were fresh & tasted great. I would not hesitate to stop again.

I ordered a French dip sandwich, fried pickles, and a black berry cobbler for lunch. Somewhat limited menu but tasty food.

Convenient across from the mystery of trees. Decor is cute & quaint. Old school black bear diner. Food was good. Service friendly.

We figured we might get a decent diner lunch. We ended up liking it so much that we came back the next day. The staff greeted us warmly and told us to sit anywhere. The place has the feel of a small-town roadside diner, with a counter, a handful of tables and even a petting zoo next door. It was clean and well kept, with locals and travelers eating side by side. I ordered the Klamath cheeseburger, and my spouse chose a breakfast with fry bread after seeing a photo of it. Then a tall, fluffy pancake arrived at the next table, and we wondered if we'd ordered the wrong thing. We hadn't. The portions were generous, my burger was delicious, and my spouse loved the fry bread. Even the tater tots stood out: crunchy outside and creamy inside. We went back the following day to try what we'd missed. I had the chicken fry bread taco, which reminded me of a cholupa (but better) My spouse finally got the pancake breakfast, along with a peanut butter milkshake. The portions were just as generous, the food was delicious and the staff was every bit as friendly. If we're back in the area, we won't have to search Yelp for lunch. We'll be heading straight to the Log Cabin.

But in other ways, they've managed to distinguish themselves from the rest (and that's not counting the two emus they have outside). They offer two relatively uncommon dishes: fry bread, which comes in a shareable size topped with cinnamon sugar, and a giant pancake. The emphasis is really on the cake, as this behemoth is over an inch tall and probably owes its perfectly cylindrical shape to a cake mold. Order just one at a time! The rest of the offerings are rather standard, but they are still quite enjoyable. You'll leave stuffed, that's for sure.

Great lunch spot right across from the harbor!…read more We had a nice, cozy lunch break here. The restaurant serves solid, traditional American fare with good portion sizes--everything our family ordered was tasty and filling. 1. What we ate: My husband had the California Benedict, I got the Santa Fe Scramble, and the kids ordered from the kids' menu (pancake with hard-boiled eggs, and a classic egg scramble with bacon, hash browns, and toast). Kid pancake came with scramble eggs but they acomódate my youngest request and he got hard boiled egg instead. 2. Drinks: Peach smoothie, white mocha, and regular drip coffee. They also have a full coffee bar on-site. Vibe & Tip: The decor is rustic and charmingly local, featuring indigenous artwork, antler light fixtures, and comfortable wooden chairs. The interior is a bit dated and the restrooms could use a little attention, but the atmosphere is cozy overall. Pro tip: Ask to sit upstairs for a great view of the marina! We'd definitely eat here again if we're back in the area.

The worst part was that the restaurant was so dark I saw someone using their phone to light up the book they were reading. Service wasn't bad, but maybe going here for breakfast is a better idea. Shortly after, the sea of people started coming in, so we definitely timed that right. My friend had been raving about their clam chowder, so you already know that was going to be an absolute must. Then the host mentioned one of their specials was a BLT with heirloom tomatoes and basil aioli. Say less. She had me at BLT. I ordered a bowl of clam chowder and the BLT, while my friend went with the clam chowder bread bowl and a side salad. My chowder arrived well before my friend's bc they were still toasting her bread bowl. Unfortunately, enjoying my soup became a bit of a waiting game bc the soup spoon I was given was visibly dirty. I asked our server for a replacement, but it never came. By the time we asked another server for a spoon, my chowder had started cooling enough that a film was forming on top. Not exactly how I wanted to start my lunch. The chowder was still warm enough to enjoy. It was pretty flavorful, and I appreciated that there was a generous amount of clams. Nothing worse than potato chowder posing as clam chowder. Definitely not the case here. I also had a taste of my friend's bread bowl, and I can see why she enjoys that version. That garlic butter on the toasted bread definitely elevates things. Now, let's talk about that BLT. First off, I LOVE a great BLT. When our server brought mine out, my jaw dropped bc I was NOT expecting a double-decker sandwich. This thing was massive! I loved the use of heirloom tomatoes, but the basil aioli was a bit much for me. Each layer of bread had a hefty spread, and it completely overpowered the bacon. I eventually gave up on the sandwich as a whole and just ate the bacon and tomatoes. And that's when I realized they weren't using thick-cut bacon either. Next time, I'd definitely ask them to hold the basil aioli and give me good ol' mayo instead. Sometimes you just want your BLT to taste like a BLT. Despite a few misses with our lunch, I can appreciate what Trinidad Bay Eatery has going for it. It has that nostalgic, homey feel of a longtime mom and pop spot, and judging by the number of people waiting to be seated, they've clearly built themselves a following. Would I come back? Yes. There's enough on the menu that I'd be willing to give something else a try. And if that BLT special makes another appearance, I know exactly how I'm ordering it next time.
