After hiking through the Grove of Titans in the Redwoods, we were starving! We stopped near Trees of Mystery and spotted this diner style cafe across the street. I love diners, so I was immediately excited to try it out! The restaurant was clean, the waitress was nice, and the food really hit the spot. Everything tasted warm, comforting, and satisfying after a long hike. Sometimes that's exactly what you need after spending the day hiking! If you are driving through the redwoods, this cafe is a decent option for basic diner food. The decor is traditional forest diner style. The tables are made out of cross-sections of trees. There are taxidermied animals around the place and forest scenes on the walls. There is a small bar (so have a drink with your meal!) and a lot of room for parties of all sizes. They even have some merchandise available. One of my greatest regrets from my recent trip is that I didn't grab one of the hoodies. As for food, I will start by saying that the food I saw go out to other tables really looked great. The burgers were large, the fries were cooked crispy, and the fish and chips was HUGE. Like. Enormous. If you are looking for standard diner fare, there are a lot of attractive options here. We are not always looking for standard diner fare, though, and try to get something gluten free and high protein when possible. There were not a lot of gluten free options, which was a bummer. But I did have the berry spinach salad. The spinach was fresh, the strawberries were on their way out. The candied pecans and the dressing were yummy. The biggest downside for me was that the chicken was cold. My husband pointed out that the grill lines resembled what you would see on packaged pieces of grilled chicken. The flavor was fine, but I was expecting a freshly grilled chicken breast so the straight cold meat was not optimal for me. It's on me that I didn't ask. If you are looking for gluten free options with the salad, make sure to ask about the chicken, as some frozen/packaged chicken is not gluten free. My husband had the tomato soup, which he enjoyed. The kids menu was decent as well. Overall a positive experience, especially given that there isn't a lot else around. read more

Amazing food, the burgers are HUGE and soo good! DELICIOUS tater tots, for sure the best ive had probably ever. Our server was so sweet and friendly and she was very cheerful! The restaurant vibe itself was cute except for the creepy fish on the wall, maybe for someone who doesnt mind fish it would be fine but i hate fish, anyway it was still good! It's a "meh" overall experience. Definitely a "I'm starving, let's pull over at the next stop, only-game-in-town experience". Philly Chessesteak was bland with minimal ingredients, not fresh. The full-size garden salad was fresher than the sandwich, but small for a full-size. And the banana pie was tasteless. Add to that "only-place-in-town" pricing and I'd say fight the hunger pains until the next exit. read more

Love the revamp. Although I did like the rainforest cafe decor of the previous Forrest Cafe. The cafe has definitely gotten a complete face lift in the food taste department. You can definitely tell the quality of ingredients they are now using and love that they are making sauces and other items in house. The seafood options with both fish and shrimp tacos and shrimp po boys were good. Batter was very light. Would have loved to have seen a local salmon option as that is what this area is known for. Huge portions, fresh and delicious food, home-baked desserts, and great dinner salad (cold/fresh/great dressing). But the best part was our server, Victoria, who was the only server in the restaurant, and it was dinnertime. She gave fast and full attention to everyone, whether you were walking in, being seated, or being served drinks; she was like a magician juggling balls in the air. Spent a few days in the Klamath area visiting the Redwood National and State Parks, and this is one of the few places to eat and pretty much the only place where you can find a few healthier options. We ate here twice and almost came back a third time, but decided that we were too tired to make the effort to go anywhere. During the two visits, we had the Strawberry Spinach Salad, Bacon Chicken Wrap, Meatloaf and Cheesesteak and all were very good. The staff is nice and friendly. The tables are spread out with rustic mountain decor. It's definitely "the" place to eat if you are in the area. read more

I would prefer 3.5 grade if an option. I had the shrimp tacos, which provided a generous 3 tacos with fried shrimp vs grilled or boiled. They were fine and given they cost $20 near a National Park and you got three large size shrimps in each taco--reasonable. The sauce, cheese and cold slaw was fine and fresh. The service was very good after the server finished a nearby table. I didn't have the cheesecake, which server would have add on Carmel and candy pecans. I was too full. I talked to a large group when I entered and they liked their burgers and fish n chips. Bottom line, for convenience, it's worth going to near the National Park. The server asked for my feedback and I told her what I'm telling you, so they are working to get better--so that is a good thing. read more

We celebrated my sister's birthday by taking a road trip to Eureka and Klamath. We stayed at the Motel of Trees (which we thoroughly enjoyed!). The cafe is located directly next to the Motel of Trees. Upon entering the Blue Ox Cafe, we were warmly greeted by a welcoming and friendly server (she was our server on the next night as well!). The decor is unique and inviting. We loved the beautiful tree slab tables and the hand painted sea creature mural! We sat next to a cuddly life size stuffed animal in the form of a bear! On our first night at the restaurant, I had ordered a decadent and comforting grilled cheese sandwich with french fries. Both were delicious! The fries were cooked to perfection! Those fries were the best I have ever tasted! On the second night, we had breakfast for dinner, as they currently serve breakfast all day beginning at 11am. I had a delicious and filling veggie omelet, crispy hash browns, and a light and fluffy buttermilk biscuit! I wish we could have taken the biscuits to go, but I'm not sure how they would have fared during our road trip home! Lastly, we shared blackberry cobbler for dessert! I'm normally a chocolate desserts kind of gal but I was so impressed by this cobbler! It was so yummy and decadent! If you are visiting the Trees of Mystery or just road tripping through the Redwoods, this is the restaurant to dine at for delicious food and friendly service! read more

Ate at this small cafe 2 days in a row while exploring Redwood National Park. Danny (female) was our server both times -- great experience. Saw a review on TripAdvisor which prompted our consideration of the restaurant while in the area. This place did not disappoint. !st day, after going to Trees of Mystery which was also a very nicely done venue, my wife had fish tacos and I had the fresh battered cod with fries. Both were very good complete with slaw and a really good batter. Second day we ate breakfast on our way to Napa. Wife had breakfast tacos made with pancakes and traditional stuffing and I had an omelette that was equally very good. Highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area. read more
