The best chili relleno I have ever had. The sauce had something in it that was amazing. The pork tamale was good as well. I really wanted to try the carne asada chimichangas because folks raved about it. I did enjoy the chimichanga, but the carne asada was so fatty that I almost couldn't eat it. Great menu. I didn't see fish taco on the menu, so I asked the server, and she said they have it. So I ordered 3 without knowing they are quite big. This spot was right across my hotel so popped in to get dinner. It's a small restaurant but servers were so friendly . I ordered the green enchilada and chicken taco combo which comes with rice and beans. It was so yummy!! The enchilada was a good portion, flavorful and honestly was to fill me up. The rice was a bit dry but still very good and the beans with cheese on top were delicious. Stopped by for a nice dinner. Customer service was great and the server was really kind. We were given chips and salsa to start. The salsa was tasty with the right amount of spiciness. I ordered the chile Colorado burrito, which is hard to find in southern Cali as it always tends to be made with pork down south. But it was beef! Beef was good and tender and luckily didn't have the squishy fat you sometimes find in it. So it was a pleasant culinary experience. My hubby ordered the bistec picado. Wow, this is super tough. We come to CC usually every or every other year. The last time we came was two years ago and we were very disappointed in Perlitas, the food and staff had killed it prior to 2020. That said we're back out four was ok'ish and I personally was brought my meal 17 minutes after the rest of my family. Traveled to Crescent City to visit the Trees of Mystery. We arrived around 1800 and were ready to eat. The lady working the front desk at our hotel highly recommended Perlita's, along with a couple of other local restaurants. Of course, I looked on Yelp to do my own research. Despite the mixed reviews, we decided to try this place. Once we arrived, it was already pretty busy. However, it did not take long for us to get seated (about five minutes). We were seated and immediately served chips and salsa. The salsa was pretty good, with the right amount of heat. My boyfriend ordered the chili verde burrito and two crunchy beef tacos. I ordered the carnitas. We're not sure where the poor reviews of this place came from. Even with the short staff (like most places these days), the service was good and the food was delicious. It's a nice authentic Mexican restaurant with tasty food, an extensive menu and belt-busting portions! My sons ordered the chimichanga combos, hubs had the cod fish burrito, and I had the chicken molé burrito. I'm normally not even a fan of molé but decided to be adventurous. This molé was different, not too sweet but was really rich and spicy with a complex flavor. It was really quite special! The other dishes were also very good but more typical of homey Mexican restaurants. The desserts and sweet empanadas were tempting but declined to order (thank goodness I remembered to wear my stretchy pull-on pants).
