The rolls were good, although the crab in the crab roll was dry. The service was quick and our server gave the bare minimum in regards to service. If Yelp allowed for half stars, this would be a 3.5. This place does offer burgers, I believe they had a small menu for Chinese food and they do serve seafood as well. Every time I visit my dad in town this is my go to place because it's right down the street. The restaurant sits near the beach close to where the boats dock, majority of the seats at the restaurant you're placed by the window to see the ocean. My kid and I just drove up this past weekend to visit his grandpa and we ate here while he was at work. My kid ordered himself shrimp tempura, a CA roll, and 1lb of crawfish (growing boy) and I ended up ordering the Sashimi for one. Came with Tuna, Salmon, Mackerel, and Fatty White Tuna. She brought us to our table and gave us our menus. They brought out waters a short while later. It was good-tasting water- no chemical/chlorine flavor. They had Coke products for their soda. There was a huge drink/wine list. The food - Japanese, Seafood boil, with a smattering of American options. The wait was a while to be able to order and it ended up with another lady as our server. She was initially pretty cheery then as things got busy, she became impersonal. She didn't give us straws for the waters only the sodas. We had to ask for extra napkins. My chopsticks with my sushi, I opened them and they were broken. (The server didn't check in on us after the food came) We ordered a dessert, specifically asking for it to be brought out before the food- because we like to make sure we have room for the dessert- it came out at the end of the meal. Fried Bananas- so good. The sushi was great. Fresh with a beautiful presentation. The teriyaki chicken was so good. The pineapple rice was good. The decor was minimal. Roof repairs were apparent. We ordered 2 drinks: 'Angry Captan' & a 'Mango Madness'....they were awful, totally undrinkable, and I should've sent them back.(tasted like cough syrup!) After a long wait, the Coco roll arrived, which was awesome and so was a large crab leg, shrimp and lobster tail combo, which was delicious! Got seated pretty quickly, the layout of the restaurant is simple and clean with a really nice view of the ocean and trees. Nothing fancy but still nice and organized. They have a variety of items on the menu. The lady that attended us, waitress I suppose, was polite but definitely was the kind of vibe where I had to make eye contact to get her to come to the table. They had lunch special which was nice. 2 rolls for $17 but they're simple hand rolls and bento box specials varies in price but about $18. It was a sushi restaurant that retained the original items. The menu was expansive so we had to dig for the items that we came to eat. The clam chowder was way too thin and tasted fishy. We learned that they use fish stock for the base. Needless to say, it went uneaten. The shrimp boil was basic and the grilled salmon looked like a cafeteria meal. I ordered a sushi meal to try a dish that fit their true mission but when it came, I was even more disappointed. I will say that the service was good. Against our better judgement we ignored a recent review that was very thorough. Came in at 1:30pm and nobody else was dining. The greeter/server seemed very inconvenienced once we arrived upstairs. Wearing an earbud and sweatpants he was very short and rude and made the experience VERY uncomfortable. Barely said anything our entire meal. Never smiled or responded after we tried being very gracious. When we asked for Ponzo sauce to go with our sashimi, we were met with a clueless look like he had never heard of it. After not saying a word he returned with a "splash" of a very sweet ponzu sauce in a tiny bowl. Afraid to ask for more we asked for either some lime or lemon wedges (hoping to cut the sweetness). He said nothing and left the table and returned with a few dry tiny expired lime wedges. The miso soup was not very salty. The sashimi and the mummy roll were of decent quality. Note, they do not serve cocktails until after 4pm. As for the atmosphere... it was a bit dingy. There was an odd room at the entrance of the stairs that was opened up to a cluster of weird items inside. Perhaps they were living out of it. There was no signage of where to go. You enter through bug screens at the base of the stairs and go up... We recommend going anywhere else. Wish we adhered to that suggestion as well. read more

The music was upbeat and we were seated in the perfect place with a view of the ocean. Our waitress was very bubbly and did an excellent job communicating that they were extremely busy. Despite servicing several tables, she served us with our drinks quickly. I ordered two dozen clams with garlic butter sauce, and it was to die for. My husband and I drove to Crescent City for our anniversary celebration and decided to have dinner at what we thought was the Boat House Restaurant we once knew. It was no longer the clean, beautiful and wonderful restaurant we had been to in the past. It changed ownership and the food was now Asian ( mostly sushi ) cuisine. We decided to give it a try so we ordered the pork dumplings and fried vegetable spring rolls as appetizers. He then ordered his sushi and I ordered the chicken chow mein for our dinner. Everything was random on that menu and over priced. As soon as the appetizers came out they looked like store bought, frozen food section slop. My husband broke open the "egg roll, water oozed out and the inside was mush. The dumplings were coated in old grease and stiff. He ate one dumpling and a half of one of the egg rolls because they were gross . Our main came out and as soon as the chow mein was placed on the table it smelled rancid! It looked like it had been mangled, mauled and spoiled. The color was a soft yellow with small flecks of what looked like tiny pieces of "chicken". My husband took one small bite and spit it out! It was AWFUL! So in disgust we told the waiter quietly at our table we didn't not want any of the food it was not good. This waiter (which you could tell they are all family in there except one of the waitresses) makes a HUGE scene in the restaurant! He called who I assume was his mom over (she did not speak English) and started yelling in their language. We got up and tried to explain why we didn't not want to eat their food and they kept yelling at us. My husband went to the register and said we will pay for the appetizers and our drinks but not the chow mein. I can't even make this up the "waiter" then goes in the main dining area starts flaring his arms around and Yelling how we were trying to not pay them and he was threatening us and saying he was going to call the cops! I stood there in disbelief since I am actually a chef who went to the BEST culinary school in America and trained with some of the best chefs. This should be shut down and the health board will be getting a call. We ended up paying for all of it even though we did not eat it and as I was leaving they yelled bye Karen! I am not a "Karen" and actually a very nice, chill person but ok thanks for trying to give us food poisoning and making a huge scene in your restaurant. Seriously DO NOT go in the bathrooms either unless you're up to date on your vaccines and tetanus shot. It was horrific. DO NOT Recommend this place to anyone! read more

Ate dinner here on 8/12/25. From Michigan visiting and figured CA and beachfront would equal good sushi. Worst sushi I ever had including some gas station sushi outside Detroit. Ordered a basic spicy tuna roll and I'm not sure it contained any tuna. Came filled with some pink paste concoction that tasted like ground tilapia. I fought it going down as well as the next day.
