I've come here twice now since visiting the town. There's a line both times and a Starbucks right across the street tells you how good the coffee is. I had a regular latte that was so good it didn't need sugar. The inside part was closed so didn't get to see it but since it was pouring I was happy to do the drive through. So good we went back daily during our 6 days in town. Great mix of options, and they offer to make something off menu (although we never needed it). It became our daily coffee place, sometimes for a morning coffee to take on the road as we headed off for the day, or some times instead for the afternoon iced drink after a good day out. But even better than the coffee was there service. The whole team was incredibly polite, friendly, and yes as couple of them even somehow remember everybodys orders by memory as they walk around asking the cars in line. Great place!!! read more

Ok, where to start. So we moved to Crescent City about 5 months ago and we were looking for a Coffee place. There were primarily 3 in the small city of Crescent City: 1) Dutch brothers which is just too sweet and is really not that great but younger kids seem to like it (20 and under) unless one has a serious sweet tooth. 2) Starbucks which is literally everywhere or it seems that way. Initially Starbucks had everything you could ask for but due to multiple reasons they got rid of many of their flavors including almost ALL sugar free options, there is just not enough for those that has type 2 diabetes and cannot have all that sugar in the coffee. Literally they had one option left for sugar free customers and I can honestly say that I have not drank a full cup for the last 4 years as it just started tasting like crap by the bottom of the cup. 3) Then of course there is Java Hut. We ordered the sugar free English Toffee Mocha with and without caffeine and let me just say that it was the best damn coffee that I have EVER had! I mean it was freaking spectacular. To the point that for the last 50 cups I did not finish 1. 1! Seriously I don't think in my entire life that happened with ANY coffee place. Even Los Gatos Coffee Roasting company I had a few cups I just didn't finish. JavaHut 1. Plus there are so many other pro's to the coffee place: 1) They have way longer hours then Starbucks across the street 2) They have way better service 3) The coffee is about 6-8% cheaper than Starbucks (depending on the coffee) 4) In the afternoon shift everyone there is freaking spectacular. They have 5 rotating employees and they are ALL experts at making the coffee. 5) When we pull up we no longer have to tell them what we want unless my kids want coffee, they already know lol. Love it! Cons: The morning shift does not make the coffee as well as the afternoon shift so we just literally come in the late afternoon as the consistency of the coffee is ALWAYS on spot! This is literally the only con. I had waited to write this up to see if things change as with every coffee company something always changes whether it be service, product, or what have you. I think 5 months is long enough. So, if you want spectacular coffee in Crescent City CA then stop by Java Hut! I love Crescent City CA and feel it is the best California City EVER! They make it better. As long as Java Hut is in business I never NEVER get coffee anywhere else! Seriously. Thank you. read more

If you're heading up or down US-101 and you want strong coffee, make this a must stop in Crescent City, CA. I got a red-eye (house coffee with a shot of espresso). Definitely strong! Had to add extra half & half to take the edge off. Semi long line of cars/trucks in their drive-thru indicate it's a popular place for locals. We were staying in Klamath and wanted to find a good little local coffee spot we thought we would have a good experience here given the reviews, unfortunately that wasn't the case. There was a long line so a girl came out and took our order at our car...on paper... then went to the next cars behind us. The line then moved and we ended up at the front while the girl was still taking orders from the cars behind us...meaning our order never made it to the front. So we reordered. Starbucks is across the street but why go there when you can support local business. The coffee itself was really good and strong. Definitely gave me the boost I needed. My experience driving south from WA and OR is the coffee declines pretty rapidly, especially once you hit the CA border. However, this little drive through defied the cliche! The barista who popped out to take our order while we waited in a long car line didn't have to write a single thing down (impressive), was friendly and fast, and in doing so made a long line move very quickly (thankfully). The prices were great, the coffee itself was tasty (and by coffee I mean the bean flavor, we don't do diabetes in a cup, I actually like the taste of coffee itself as one ought when buying coffee), the service went off without a hitch, and the cup was full. Yes, this is often a problem. All in all, considering Crescent City is a stop on our way South pretty frequently, we'll be back. Being my first visit to Java Hut, I decided to be adventurous and tried the Berryluscious (expresso with white chocolate and raspberry). It lived up to the name and it was really delicious! They had other creative specialty drinks like Mocha Royale (with chocolate and coffee liqueur) and Mandarin Moo (with chocolate and orange flavor), which I would like to have tried.
