This looks like a Dennys. It's relatively open and clean. The tables are bussed quickly. The servers here are all young. The customers largely appear to be locals, not that there's a ton of touristy options here. Our server was a nice young woman. She was pleasant and did her job well. As to the food, it's Denny's. My wife liked her fried chicken salad, and seemed to like the fries she ordered. I got a BLT that was just ok - not enough bacon or tomato. But the onion rings that came with it were surprisingly good. Given our options here, this was a good choice. We had to wait several minutes before we were seated. I have knee problems so it felt like 15 minutes. Never greeted when we came through the door nor was our presence acknowledged. it took another chunk of time for someone to take our order. We were probably there half an hour before drinks came. The food quality was poor. The other two in my party got burnt food and even though they brought replacement. The cinnamon pancakes didn't come until after the replacement eggs , sausages and hash browns were eaten. They were basically regular pancakes with 3 stripes of icing. My salmon was dry, I ordered red potatoes and got brown. My salad didn't come until I was almost done. (that's after I asked for it three times) when it came it had the wrong dressing so I had to wait longer and ask for the right dressing twIce. When we asked to speak to the manager she sent other employees to apologize. I never got the dinner rolls. When we brought up how we were over charged and didn't get what were supposed to , she said we were rude because we kept asking for things. I ordered off the senior menu and was charged regular price. The manager would not correct it, she gave a discount but it still didn't correct the over charge. Also no ice. Had to sway flies away and off the table. I ordered a brisket and Mac and cheese, which I order all the time at other places and it's a very good amount, especially for what I'm paying. I went to the Chinle dennys and they shorted the brisket to the tiny/shortest amount possible. I asked for more and they brought over dried up scraps. Heard the guy saying they had to warm up more in a microwave when I asked for more. Probably why it came out dry. I changed my mind after seeing what they offered and told them to take the plate back because I didn't want it. I didn't eat there that day. I know it's the Rez but they need to do better!!!!! Wow, I hadn't been to Denny's in forever, since like, college, because it was open 24/7 and drunk college kids need pancakes, damnit! So you can imagine how unexpected it was to find myself at a Denny's during our Arizona road trip. Out of desperation, it was our dinner for the night. After rolling into Chinle late and checking into the hotel, we needed to find a restaurant that was open after 8pm. We had no idea this would be so challenging, but since we were on reservation land, there were not very many places open late. Thanks to Yelp, we learned that there was a Denny's around, which was the only restaurant open past 8pm. Word. So we went to Denny's and it looked exactly like it did in college except we noticed there was no lounge area or drunk college kids. After a long day on the road and hiking, we were looking forward to kicking back with some booze, but didn't see a drinks menu. We then asked our server about this which is when we learned that they do not have alcohol on the reservation. OH! Just diner food for us then. It's been a minute since I've been to a diner, especially a Denny's diner. But I was impressed with all that was offered, including a breakfast menu that's served all day. My partner ordered a T-bone steak while I had the country fried steak entree. Once the food came, it was as you'd expect from Denny's - A-OK. It's Denny's for crying out loud! The country fried steak was tender, potatoes were meh and the squash was oily. At least there was a gravy train to smother it all in. If you're looking for a late night option, late being past 8pm, then Denny's is here for you in Chinle, Arizona. We were looking to eat at another restaurant in Chinle but it had already closed. So we opted to give this Dennys a try. I have been raving about the Dennys in St. Michaels for a month now. So I was interested to see if this location was as good. We were greeted by a wonderful young lady that promptly seated us and gave us menus. Then another nice young man came to take our drink orders. The restaurant is very clean and wasn't very busy. With the exception of the bathroom that could use some cleaning. Our drinks came and we told our server what we wanted. My wife chose the T-bone steak dinner and I opted for the Slamburger with fries. I had the same burger in St. Michaels a couple of days ago. So I was anxious to see if this was as good. We waited patiently and enjoyed each others company and talked about what an awesome week we have had visiting family in the area. It wasn't long and our food arrived. It really looked great. My burger was on point! As were the fries. My wife said her dinner was really good except the steak was pretty dry. But it was well seasoned. She ordered it medium well and it was definitely well done. Over all it was a great dining experience and I highly recommend this Dennys. The staff was very friendly and they have great attitudes. Which is nice to see these days. We would definitely visit this location again! read more

I don't understand the negative reviews some have posted either. This was seriously one of the best Denny's I have eaten at. Normally when I eat at a Denny's the food is greasy and sometimes bland. Not this location. The hash browns were perfectly cooked and weren't in a pool of oil, my 9-grain pancake was light and fluffy and the side of fruit consisted of strawberries, grapes, and bananas. Everything was good, nice and light. I observed the staff wearing masks and scrubbing down tables. Silverware came in a paper bag and the condiments were in Togo containers, all of this due to COVID-19 so it's nice to see some precautions still being carried out. The ice machine was broken when we visited so our water was warm but oh well, sh!t happens. Staff was super friendly and attentive and everything appeared clean. read more

Have been a customer here since they opened up several years ago. One of the few restarants in Chinle and the only one that opens before 7 am. Think I gave this place 5 stars when it first opened and now 3 stars. Food and pricing are consistent. They provide a 15% AARP discount. This week if you come back you get 20% discount on your bill. We have had the same server each day. We affectionately call him 50/50. He gets the order right about 50% of the time. He tries to remember the order in his head but must have a short memory. Have been leaving pens on the table from the hotel. Hopefully he will start to use it to write down the order. Not sure if they are on a POS system. Will undoubtely will be back. read more

To be honest, I really didn't want to review this Denny's in Chinle. I'll do my best, and hope it is taken as constructive. The biggest reason we came here, was to eat breakfast early. Since it's open early and is close to where my brother in law has to teach his class. Plus he has a specific hour that his class has to begin. So here we are seated at Denny's getting ready for breakfast on our first morning here in Chinle. Our server came up to our table and we noticed he didn't have anything to write our order down with. So my brother in law orders his breakfast and then I ordered mine. So we are both sipping our coffee, and our server brings us both our breakfast. Well, my order was correct but, my brother in law's isn't. So when we left the bill was adjusted accordingly for the error in the order. On our second morning we decide lets try Denny's again. So we go in, get seated and here comes the same server as yesterday morning. We figured, lets try one more time. So we are ready to order our breakfast. The server takes our order, nothing to write our order with, once again. Here we are sipping on our coffee, and the server brings out our order. This time it was my turn. My order wasn't correct. So I mentioned to him I didn't order this part of the breakfast, so he takes it back and corrects my order, and again the bill was adjusted our bill as well. I can't explain what happened here since with our server, as I wasn't in on the conversation with the person doing the cooking and the instructions given by the server. I feel like this exactly what it's supposed to be--diner food in a hurry with family-friendly atmosphere. The food's not amazing but it's totally fine--I got the steak salad (with some brown lettuce bits) and hubs got the brisket sandwich. They were out of what I wanted to get for dessert (the apple skillet) so we got the cookie skillet instead--hubs said the cookie was dry and didn't finish it. Everything across the board, this isn't the place to go especially when you are hungry. Expect long wait times, cold entrees, undercooked food, minimal to non-existent waiter/waitresses. Fairly kept establishment. Management needs to reconsider and educate staff with customer service, communication, team work, culinary ethics as these are visually obvious during peak and non peak hours. The ambiance at this location is perfect for the restaurant cook/busser to be giving hickies to their significant other. The food is typical Dennys quality, not great but not bad. However 3 out of 4 times going there they are always out of the majority of the menu. The wait staff is less than attentive. They come to get your drink order then your food order and after that you're lucky to see them to refill your drink or anything else you may need. we have also had to track them down for our check. read more

I've been coming here since it's opening and as far as I have noticed, the service has always been mediocre. I came by recently and ordered a caramel apple crisp and a strawberry banana smoothie for a late night craving. The server forgot to give me silverware, and I sat there thinking they would come back and give me a spoon. Unfortunately, after 5-10 minutes, they didn't come back and only after I asked when they were getting someone else's order did they notice. Additionally, I noticed they were more attentive to the other customers and I would always have to capture their attention. So overall, food was decent. I saw a couple of reviews saying that this Dennys was not good. I don't understand that. When you go to Denny's, Denny's that's what you're going to get. This food was just as good as any other Denny's I've ever been to, the people were nice and it was exactly what we expected. Their portions are a lot smaller than other Denny's locations. Customer service is up there, surprisingly.

New restaurant but honestly, till they learn how to properly serve, get their meals out in a timely manner and the servers learn CUSTOMER SVC, you're better off going to Junction by Best Western or Holiday Inn. We waited for a long time to receive service and get our food. Food particles and trash on the floor, one of the workers walks around with sunglasses on (very unprofessional), bathrooms are dirty (people using the seat covers to wipe their hind parts). You have to constantly ask other people other than your server for refills or something else that you may want. Beware, the server just may fill in your tip and total section as she did with ours!! Eggs that might have started out over-medium but cooked hard while my skillet sat in the window, being summarily ignored by two of the three servers, presumably because they weren't "my" server. Denny's has their good and bad days. Today was a bad day. We were served thawed, uncooked chicken strips. At least the nachos were still good. But, I can't help but think if I have salmonella now. The manager did not offer a refund - NO REFUNDS! she asked if she can put in another order. I explained the more important issue is introducing food poisoning into the community with uncooked raw/thawed chicken. It didn't seem to bother her. That is scary. This Denny's is a great place to eat in this town. There are many choices like fish, meat, vegetables, and more. The servings are big and the ceasar salad is great. Be sure to get the mashed potatoes as a side as they are absolutely incredible! My only complaint is that the wait times may be a little long. In all, this is an excellent place to eat. read more

Though clean, that is where my positive experience ends. When my family walked through the door we were not greeted immediately though three crew members were close on hand and the place was not busy. We were seated 5 minutes after we walked in, again there were maybe three other tables being used. I visited the bathroom and found the stall had no toilet paper. Then I ordered food and felt rushed. When the waitress came back a second time I ordered a build you own chicken burger with mayo, ketchup, lettuce, and avocado on a cheddar bun. My mom ordered the original grand slam (with pancakes duh). When we got our food my mom got a grand slammich (no pancakes), I got a chicken burger with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions (no mayo and no avocado) on a sesame bun my avocado was on my sisters sandwich and my brothers food looked like crap. We sent our food back and the waitress made a fuss and blamed my mom for the mistake. We got our food back and it was still wrong. We asked for a manager and we got two waitresses instead. They did nothing to help so we left. My mom never got her food. We aren't picky and we let them try and fix our food but they did a poor job. We will never stop at this place again. read more

My family and I were not even greeted when we entered. There were some tables that weren't xleanThere were waitresses standing around, they did not even acknowledge our presence. We waited about 10 minutes to get seated, and it wasn't even a full house. After we were finally seated, it took about another 10 minutes for one waitress to take our drink orders, and for some reason a waitress came out with our drink orders , while our previous waitress just stood in the back talking to another waitress. Our waitress who served us our drinks, took our food orders (but one thing I did not like about her was that she mumbled and she just whispered and I could not hear a single word she was saying, so I told her I could not hear her at all and I told her that she needed to speak up, finally she spoke a little louder to where I could hear her. ) our food took about 30+ - 40+ minutes but it was somewhat worth it. ( I was famished, what could I say) We then got our check and what I did not like is that our total came out to be $68.73, which was okay. But one of the waitresses wrote in $10.00 for the tip section which brought our total to $78.73. Furious, my mother scratched out the tip section and wrote out the total to be $68.73 again. We then went to the front to pay for our food, and the waitress ( I assume the one who wrote out the tip herself.) smiled at us and we payed for the food and she looked at us again and she asked - "do you want to leave a tip? " I held myself back and told her. "she didn't deserve a tip." we then didn't say anything else from there. We just walked out. They tried to cheat us, which they had no right to do, if they had at least decent service we would leave a tip or two. My family and I will never come to this Denny's again. If they had good service and if they didn't try to cheat us. I would give them at least a 4/5 stars. read more
