Being one of the few restaurants in the area, this place was slammed for a mid-week dinner. We were seated quickly and our drink order was taken promptly, but that's about where things went off the rails. There was clearly some distinction- as other reviews have mentioned. After receiving our drinks, no one came back to take our order. We eventually flagged down a waitress (who was apologetic) to take our order. And, yes, as other reviews have mentioned, our orders came out in stages. Pro tip: order off the Pizza Hut menu, as those items all came out first. Like, significantly, first... We also ordered some local dishes, which were all tasty. The Indian fry bread was warm and very tasty. The lamb stew was very hearty. The restaurant appeared clean and organized. Navajo Land restaurant with a family restaurant vibe that was still open when we arrived at 7:30. Most other restaurants were closed or would be closed by time we could get there. This is a combo restraint that is the both the Junction and Pizza Hut combined. We were promptly seated and our orders were taken. It took a while for our meals to arrive and for the most part they were very good. The steaks were great, however the baked potatoes were refrigerator cold inside. They did offer and provide a side of fries to make this right. The sheepherder was a good beef sandwich but the fry bread was dripping oil. As a note we were some of the last customers before closing and I think they had started shutting down the kitchen before we arrived. We were thankful that they were open and we got served. We stopped in on a busy Saturday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised with just an 8-minute wait, pretty impressive given the crowd. Our party of four was seated in a comfy booth, and drinks came out almost immediately. Quick service is always a win! That said, the fountain drink tasted a little off--maybe something was up with the mix--but it wasn't a deal-breaker. I ordered the Sheepherder (yes, you read that right!) and it was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend if you're up for something a little adventurous and flavorful. One hiccup: our meals didn't all come out at the same time, so half our table had to wait while the others were already halfway through. Not ideal, but we rolled with it. We took a break from driving and enjoyed a nice little breakfast. Blue cornmeal pancakes and sausage, ham and eggs, corned beef hash and more. Everyone was happy with their meals and especially the brief respite from driving. The staff were all friendly and gave suggestions when asked. Lots of the guests were from the hotel next door. Really nice restaurant. Got a bit confused because as we walk in we see Pizza Hut signs. We walked in anyway as we were starving but the sweet hostess let us know it was both a Pizza Hut and restaurant. We were given a lot of choices on the menu and our original waitress was fast and responsive. I had the beef stew that was more like a Mexican caldo. I personally loved it full of vegetables as it was. The Navajo tortilla was very similar to a Mexican tortilla but slightly thicker. Spouse picked a personal pizza and it was very well made. Our waitress had a staff meeting so left us with another server who was less attentive. We ended with peach pie al la mode which was good but the ice cream was self-serve. Thus the four star rating. We had three meals at Junction Restaurant. The breakfast was fine nothing spectacular but tasty. Lunch was great. Large Chef Salad and the star was the Lamb Sandwich on a Navajo tortilla. Big slices of grilled lamb served with tomato, onion, and a huge grilled poblano pepper. I had onion rings instead of fries and they were great. Dinner was delicious lamb stew with fry bread and a Navajo Taco which had lots of lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, olives, beans and onions. Served with spicy salsa. The service was top notch at all three meals. Large place with plenty of seating and they also feature a Pizza Hut menu if you are up for that but I highly recommend the traditional Navajo specialities read more

Stopped for lunch on our way to Canyon de Chelly. Simple restaurant with a pretty basic - but hearty local foods - menu. We had the Mutton Stew and it was delicious! Hearty, heart-warming and tasted like home cooking! I imagine other items are the same, and hope to be able to try them some other time. The wait staff were friendly and attentive. Navajo taco had canned pinto beans and almost no beef to speak of, so no flavor. Fry bread was undercooked and gluey. Served with packets of salsa a la Taco Bell spoke volumes. After seeing pie served to a Native couple in the booth next to us, we asked our waiter about their pie options and were told "We don't serve pie." read more

Our waitress Samantha was friendly and nice. The wait seemed like it was going to be very long but they actually got us in faster than I expected. There are very limited choices in Chinle and the food is good and priced okay but nothing was as wow aa I was hoping. I had the beef stew with fry bread. The fry bread was a little oily but very soft and well made. The stew had a lot of veggies and some pieces of beef but it was bland to me. I even added green chillies from my husband's plate. He had the Mexican combo with a cheese enchilada, beef taco and chili rellano. It was also bland and oily. It was packed ao perhaps we picked the wrong things but it was filling. read more

Four of us all ordered different items and none of us liked our food. The fry bread is extremely greasy and soggy. The shell of the taco salad was burned. The lamb was tough and tasteless. The house salad with chicken had the chicken chopped into little pieces and was dry. The dressing is not homemade. Unfortunately I can't say anything was good. They only had two servers that night so service was slow as well. I do not recommend this place. read more

Chinle, AZ isn't exactly a foodie hotspot so dining options are quite limited in town. This is one of the few dine-in restaurants around. I came here for both dinner and breakfast. I found the service to be great and the food to be pretty good with large portions. The menu is a mix of Navajo and American dishes. We ordered the lamb sandwich, caesar salad, and beef stew for dinner which was tasty and very filling. Their fry bread was excellent! Only caveat is that their hours on the weekends are a bit odd so check their website or call in to make sure they are open if you plan on having a late dinner. read more

We went here for lunch after spending the morning in Canyon de Chelly on a jeep tour. The Junction Restaurant was recommended to us by a couple of locals as the best place for eating out. We arrived at 12:15 and were surprised to see how quickly we could get a seat because the parking lot looked full. I was trying to decide between a bowl of posole or the green chile cheeseburger. My decision was made easier when the waitress said that the posole is no longer available. The green chile cheeseburger is a 1/3 pound beef patty with cheese and a roasted green chile that has been roasted, split, and cleaned paced on top of the cheese. On the side, they provide lettuce, onion, and tomato for you to add if you like them. I got seasoned fries with my burger, which were ok. They are steak-cut fries, seasoned then deep fried. The flavor was not bad, but they still needed salt and ketchup. For dessert we got a Navajo Fry Bread to split. This was tasty and was served with a little cup of brown sugar, but they had somehow ran out of honey. That would have been helpful to know when we ordered it. I probably would not have chosen this item if I knew that they were out of honey. Based on what I have seen in Chinle I think that this is probably the best place to eat. There are lots of other options on the menu and they had plenty of staff, so the service was quick and we got out food in a very reasonable amount of time. read more

We were very disappointed with the food. I had the lamb stew. It had no flavor. No salt. I don't think the meat was cooked with the vegetables. I would never recommend this dish. I ordered the enchilada and taco plate. Gross! No flavor what's so ever. The beans tasted like they came out of a can. The sauce... yea I have no idea what or how they made it? Ketchup? Located on the main road through Chinle, right next to Best Western. This is a busy place, tourists and locals come for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We came here twice for dinner during our stay in Chinle. My chicken quesadilla was cheesy, big and yummy. Hubby had the tasty Navajo taco. Soup and salad along with chicken burrito for the next night, all good & yummy. No complaints about flavor or quality. The menu consists of comfort American, Navajo & Mexican dishes and of course desserts. A nice variety! We sat at our table people watching while waiting for food. Locals and tourists come for food here, servers are busy bustling about. Price is reasonable compared to other little towns near a major attraction. And the fact that locals eat here, it is not overpriced. Service was good and people are polite! This is the only 2 sit down restaurants in town. Chinle is a little town on the Navajo reservation. It doesn't boast any fancy establishments. Life is simple here with beautiful open sky and vast land. If you are looking for the El Tovar kind, go elsewhere. read more

This will be my first review for the Junction Restaurant in Chile, Arizona. I am guessing that the name is referring to the corner of Highway 191 and the Route 7 meet at the light. The Route 7 is what you take to get to Canyon De Chelly. We ate here three times while in Chinle. Once for lunch, dinner, breakfast. For my lunch, since I really wasn't that hungry I had a small chicken soup that was very tasty. For dinner I had their Patty Melt, and finally for a one time breakfast I had their Blue Corn Pancakes. Just so you know because of it's location, this restaurant is very busy but, seating is always available. The prices are reasonable, and their food is good. I am only giving it three stars because it deserves a three and half but, not a four. This restaurant is still a place you should try if you happen to be in going through or staying longer. read more

The three stars is due to the food quality and the ambience. I had a Navajo taco and it was, ok, but I have had much better a couple towns over near Monument Valley. It was very bland. And, it is pricey, $11. The ambience is a cookie cutter shopping mall style cafeteria-like dining area. It's nothing exciting or comfortable. The service however was wonderful. They were very attentive, helpful and quick. There were lots of locals there, which was sort of surprising since it's attached to the motel and I figured the high prices and eclectic menu was geared towards the tourists. Alas, it is a smaller town so I can see why locals would go. It's not your worst stop off, but not the best. Solid 2.5 stars. read more

We had stopped at the Hubbell trading post and a ranger suggested Junction for lunch - "try the lamb sandwich and the lamb stew" - so we did - we also ordered a Navajo Taco because it was on the bucketlist - the kids ordered kid food - burger and chicken - they were happy with it - now on for the fun Navajo food - so we had had Navajo fry bread, and I misread the description and though just beans, cheese, tomatoes, avo, cream cheese - but the beans were chili beans with some meat - which I really don't ever like - my bad - I scraped some off and at the rest of the toppings that I could salvage. I can honestly say that I did try it and it wasn't my thing. the lamb sandwich served on Navajo fry bread was absolutely fabulous! It was not gamey, just delicious - as was the lamb stew - again, not gamey, just comforting, seeing as it was starting to rain and the wind was beginning to blow - we really did enjoy it - don't know how they made it taste so good when I only saw potatoes, carrots, and lamb - but it was delicious. Definitely would eat here again when we return to Canyon de Chelly, which is Gorgeous! read more

I had a green chile hamburger and the green chile just added so much flavor. My husband had the Navajo taco and he loved that too.
