I appreciate the fact that you're going to the restaurant to check things out, I eat at Denny's all the time because I'm on the road working as a commercial driver delivering RVs around the country and was a truck driver for 21 years also. I was one of the few that appreciated it when Denny's started going into the truck stops in the first place. The only restaurant open in the Cheyenne area during a Christmas Day blizzard, such a positive experience because of the staff. Pleasant, professional, informed, and kind, they made my stop a good one. Hadn't eaten at a Denny's for an extended period, and they exceeded my expectations. For a change we were not in a rush, so we thought we would sit and eat while. Truck parking is adequate, easy in and out. Pretty busy lot. Would benefit everyone to have more Truck parking. Well, normally I don't have a bad experience at a Denny's. And I know working in fine dining, I should be a little more lenient, but I will probably never come back here. First, we wait while the host and a server are in a deep conversation, another large group walked in behind us, still ignored for another 3-5 minutes. A young lady tried to take my boyfriend and I to a 2-top table, without even asking how many we had. They must've just through a rush because the restaurant looked like a disaster. We needed a minute to look at the menu, but it took over an hour to get our food. Two other tables that ordered after us got their food first, with very similar items. Which I know that happens, but still an hour?? Then hash browns weren't cooked all the way. The guys' weren't crispy as they asked. Mine were half burnt and half undercooked. And overly greasy. Then she had the guys put their hash browns on another plate to get cooked more, which I found weird cause normally restaurants just get a new order and don't make you give food back..?? anyways, while that happened, she held a small plate over my drinks and didn't hold it steady so I got hash browns in my juice. Then when I asked for another, she didn't say it wasn't a free refill, neither did the menu. Charged for another juice, as the chucks of food in my first one were invisible. Plus not sure who our server actually was. One girl took our orders and refilled coffee, while another did everything else. The strawberry blonde (or redhead) lady was nice. Maybe we just got the wrong section. But probably won't go back because definitely not impressed at all. Obviously being a server, tipped her good. Vegetarian breakfast better than expected. Denny's, particularly at a truck stop is where one would not have high expectations of finding a vegetarian breakfast, but other than the service, this was a pleasant surprise. This may have been just a "bad day" for my server, but it was pretty bad service and hopefully not typical. Some basics like asking the customer about how the customer wants the potatoes prepared or type of coffee, or being attentive enough to not ask "how do you want your eggs?" when an omelet has been ordered would go a long way to make for a better customer experience. Typical of when you sit down you'll be asked "what would you like to drink?" I said "coffee" not realizing there were options and got a mediocre, weak cup of coffee. Bleh! Only when I later asked if there were any other coffee options was I told about their "Bold" which really was much better. When you order coffee unless you like it weak and not particularly tasty, order the "Bold Coffee". It's less bitter and I found it didn't need any cream or sugar to my tastes. If you don't specify, you will get the average not so tasty brew. The "Bold" is more flavorful and less acidic. I wanted a "Loaded Veggie Omelet" but really didn't want a 3 egg omelet, so I asked about getting the "55+" 2 egg version with a substitution of eggs instead of the "egg whites" which normally comes with the "55+" version. The server told me "well that might just screw up the whole order!" We discussed that I could get the red potatoes instead of the fruit cup so I was not happy when I got the standard oily, pale, hash browns instead. Rather than simply taking my plate back and putting what I ordered on my plate, she argued with me saying "you didn't say what kind of potatoes so I just put in hash browns." I asked, "if you weren't sure why didn't you ask?" We talked specifically about the red potatoes. She had no answer and ultimately took my plate back to the kitchen and 5 minutes later returned with the hash browns removed and red potatoes served. She also brought out the English muffin rather than the whole wheat pan cakes I ordered. This she replaced without argument 5 minutes later. All in all it took about 40 minutes from order to get my breakfast. She disappeared long enough that when I needed refills of my coffee I gave up and asked other servers who even though I was not at their area still got the coffee for me. Summary of service: not acceptable but may just be one bad employee or an individual having a bad day, and others pitched in to make things better as they were able. Once I actually got what I ordered it was better than expected. It wasn't as oily (what some call greasy) as typical. The vegetables were plentiful, not overcooked, and I liked having the option of Swiss cheese. It would have been better if the cook melted that cheese before putting in the veggies and folding it over, but it's still better than simply putting the cheese atop the finished omelet which has become too typical at similar restaurants. The whole wheat pancakes passed my "are they good enough to eat without syrup test?". It's a funny irony to get a "healthy breakfast" served with a giant scoop of whipped butter. If you don't slather it on the calorie count for this breakfast is among the lower ones on the menu. The red potatoes are "deep fried" not sautéed as stated on the menu. Roasted would be better but they should serve what is listed and not surprise the customer with deep fat fried potatoes instead of sautéed potatoes. Knowing that, I would have gone with the fruit cup. They also charged an extra $0.59 for some (sadly mild) salsa. It's okay they charged for it but would have been better if they hadn't especially after the service hassles I experienced. All in all, provided the average service actually is better than what I experienced, Denny's at the Flying J Truckstop in Cheyenne offers reasonably good vegetarian breakfast options at a reasonable price ($10.53 + tip). For someone trying to grab a quick meatless breakfast while passing through Cheyenne along I-80 or I-25, this might be a good option but between the delays in getting the order right and time it takes just too get the order to table, it might not take much if any longer to go a little farther from the freeway and enjoy some of the really wonderful vegetarian breakfast options Cheyenne offers. Denny's offers convenience, good, not great food, and variable quality of table service. Overall I give them 3 out of 5 stars, but would reduce that to 2 if the service I encountered turns out to be typical instead of the exception. Bon Appétit. read more

I'm not sure why so many people have given this Denny's such a bad rap, but I personally found it to be perfectly fine for what it is. My server, Wednesday, and yes that is her actual name, was incredibly sweet, delightfully quirky and generally on top of things. It was late on a Sunday evening when I stopped in but the place was hopping and it seemed like the servers were keeping up reasonably well with the workflow. The food was out in less than 15 minutes and tasted perfectly acceptable. I will say I was actually impressed by their new bacon cheddar tots, which were prepared nice and crispy and with just the right amount of bacon, cheese and sauce. Definitely worth the $0.59 upgrade over the standard fries which are never terribly good. As with any truck stop Denny's, your mileage may vary depending on when you come in and who is working, but I think prior reviews of this establishment were unnecessarily harsh and the service was quick and quality enough to warrant four stars. read more

I've given this place many chances. I've even made excuses for the many downfalls of eating at this particular Denny's.....it's tied to a truck stop, it's new and they're working the kinks out, the food is good! All of these excuses and more used on my poor husband, bless his soul. However, after convincing him to try one more time this morning ("Come on honey, it can't be bad on a Wednesday at 10:30 in the morning!"), I can't take it anymore. This place has gone so far downhill it's underground. Slow to seat you, 10 minute wait on a Wednesday morning at 10:45 even though there are at least 15 empty tables. Slow service, 10 minutes for our waitress to even acknowledge us. Oh. And there are flies galore in here. But hey, the food is still pretty good. I guess if you can handle all the other crap that goes along with eating here, more power to you. I, on the other hand, will not be frequenting this place again anytime soon. read more

Worst experience i ever had here! First off, we were seated at a dirty table that hadn't been cleaned, and the surrounding area was a disaster and very nasty! We shrugged it off and ordered our drinks. I got an iced tea, and my friend got a coffee. We continued on with our conversation, and then my friend saw something strange on his cup, it was lipstick!! He set the coffee aside and waited to get a new cup, while i was sipping my ice tea, which tasted a bit funny. After a few sips, i started to note that the tea tasted very salty, and my friend agreed with me. We waited a bit longer for the waitress, but she never came back. We were disgusted at the enviroment and the unsanitary cups we drank from. We went up and told the manager, and told him about what happened, then left. This has been the worst experience i have had at any resturant in cheyenne, i dont not recommend!!! read more

The last Straw! It was so nice when they first opened a couple years ago. Save yourself a headache, exit at the Lincolnway exit and eat at the more pleasant Villiage Inn. Where do I start? Making people wait for a seat at 10:30am on a weds when there are 20 empty tables? If you come here during the summer months and sit anywhere near the rear of the restaurant, expect your person and food to be covered in flies. If you are traveling up I-25 to I-80 this is a great place to stop. Easy on and off the highway and plenty of parking. Food was good basic Denny's and service was very good. Breakfast for one of us lunch for the other and nobody blinks an eye. We don't have many Denny's on Long Island which is a shame because it really fills a need. read more

One of the only restaurants that is open at 1 am and isn't bar-only! I go there when work gets in the way and I don't want to cook dinner in the middle of the night. I used to always get the club sandwich, but the last two times I've ordered it it's been sub-par. Mostly bread, and even the bread pieces are small. They still cut it into quarters but now the quarters are teeny-tiny. I started getting the steak instead. It's tasty and always cooked exactly how I like it, but there's almost always a thick, fatty string running through mine that I have to eat around. The last three times I've gone (over several months), they've been out of ice cream. The service is either fantastic or below-average. One of them is very friendly and outgoing while the other doesn't even look at us or refill drinks until we look like we need the check. read more

It's been over a year since the last review and frankly the reviews have kept me from stopping here, but the driving by and hunger got the best of me and I stopped. My what a surprise. It was a Friday evening. The place was fairly busy but running well. We were seated and our orders taken and the food was served. The manager Jim was outstanding. Customer Service must be his middle name. he stopped by and chatted and made sure everything was ok. he was visable on the floor the entire time we were there. The wait staff was well directed and the whole thing was pleasant. All in all this place has made a change for the better! It's a nice place to stop along the highway between Wyoming and Colroado. I understand that this Denny's is new, and I should be patient. I know every business has growing pains, but two months later, things should be smoothed out. I have been there several times, and I've experienced some of the best service/food from Denny's, and some of the worst ever. I have been here twice before 11PM, and the service was downright horrible. The food, once it came out, was made totally wrong and was cold. I have been there several times after 11PM, closer to midnight, and the service and food is amazing. My advice to anyone, if you want great Denny's food, go here after midnight. I've never been here in the morning/noon hour, but the evenings are horrible here. You also never see the same people working there twice, which is never a good sign. read more

Every time we have gone to this Dennys it has ended up being horrible. The last time we were there (a year or more ago) we waited an hour just to get food that wasn't even close to our order. We decided to give it another try and it held up to every previous poor experience. Our server brought us half our drink order and never came back. We overheard another server say that the other server (ours) just walked out...so we did the same thing. And we won't be coming back again. The worst Denny's meal I've ever had! Simple order of ham and OM eggs. The ham had so much grease on it I had to wipe it off and one egg was broken and overcooked and the other egg was raw.
