We have eaten here twice and if I could afford it, we would eat here at least weekly! They have burritos, bagels, kolaches and some desserts as well as lattes, smoothies, coffee and more. I don't know if the blond lady who made our food is the owner or not but she maintains a cool, calm composure even when they're busy. I would be freaking out under the stress. Coffee's a 4, food is a 3, atmosphere is a 2. If you are light sensitive, the extremely bright LED (or maybe fluorescent) lighting is awful. And the layout is really cramped. Somehow these guys make a tiny city coffeehouse warm, inviting, and as I sit observing the clientele in and out, the owner knows many people by name! It's like country charm in the most unexpected place. They use real ingredients for their food too--no shipped in sandwiches and pastries for them--real eggs, real milk, hand chopped veggies. Wow. Mixed espresso drink nice & hot--delicious & no weird aftertaste that some places have. The bac/egg/chz kolache was ok in terms of flavor but the pastry was surprisingly flaky. Do yourself a favor and skip the chains in favor of the local spots! This is a cute mom & pop (literally they had their little kids with them) and they make fantastic drinks and food!!! On a whim we decided to take an extra little trip while in Colorado - this was a great destination to stop at before heading back to Denver. I had a peach tea, my wife had the cowgirl and our son had an Italian soda. We can't pick a favorite since they were all so delicious. We also each had kolaches and they were so good. Owner Operator was super friendly and you can tell he loves his craft. The seating and ordering area was a bit on the small side but cozy and very clean, save for the wet, salty spots which is no normal considering the weather. I love visiting small coffee shops like this during my travels. I went in the morning and ordered a Cold Brew coffee with SF Vanilla and cream as well as a Kolache to munch on. The shop wasn't too busy I was able to order straight away. The server made my drink fairly quickly and I took it and sat at a table to wait for my food. I was looking around and the shop is quite cozy and quaint. I was missing my coffee partner and she would have loved the shop itself. During my wait for my food, the three people already sitting had left and there were at least 3 other customers that came in after me and ordered drinks and food to go. They all left before I got my food. Approximately 10-15 minutes. When I finally did get it, it was underwhelming. There wasn't much flavor in it and left a lot to be desired. The coffee was good and they did offer a few vegan options. I probably won't visit this location again read more

Clearly the owner served me today. His little son was in a bouncer, just bubbling and grinning. The latte I got was good. I prefer a darker espresso bean than what was served this morning. Still, no complaints, just not my favorite beans. There is no way I can explain the incredible breakfast kolache I was served. Obviously homemade, the ham was clearly hand cut and trimmed. The jalapeño bits layered within the ham were just enough to increase the depth of flavors and simply enhanced the luxurious texture and taste of the homemade bread surrounding the center. Decided to stop at The Crooked Cup and ordered a cup of coffee with a cinnamon roll. The cup of coffee was definitely made fresh a little too hot to enjoy right away unfortunately. The cinnamon roll came out 5 minutes later, it was a bit over heated as part of the bread was very hard. Too hard to cut with the plastic knife that was given with the plate. The staff was okay in service nothing really wowed me as when I walked in there was no greeting just stares, for such a tight space you would think you would get a warm welcoming upon entering their store. I was looking for a local coffee shop in my hometown before I went back to Washington state, so I Yelped (duh) and found this place. Walked in, had a coffee bar and full up grill behind that. Got a vanilla latte and breakfast burrito. The owner was the one who helped me and was extremely nice. Told me that they didn't have any bacon breakfast burritos left, but he could take a veggie one and put bacon in it. I told him his idea was outstanding! Has the normal free wifi, coffee, food. Nice place, the only possible meh thing I had was since it has a full up grill in it, grill with oil, the place is a tad smoky. But since that's the trade-off of making delicious food, who cares? It's a great coffee shop, and they have an amazing selection of hot and cold beverages. It's a great quiet place if you wanted to read a book or work on a laptop. The owner and staff have always been very friendly. The only downside is it's proximity to two last chance hotels (The Idleman and the Pioneer hotels) wherein the denizen of those places like to linger around the area and beg for booze/drug money. Not that I'm trying to diss on the addicts, I just don't need to be asked for change 18 times before I get a cup of coffee. In the colder months that does subside a bit. Straight deal on the Crooked Cup for vegetarians. This is a "small chain" with several stores in northern Colorado which recently opened its first store in Wyoming here in downtown Cheyenne. I'm glad they did. The people working here are very nice and helpful, answering any questions I had. Aside from some creative pastries there are a couple of meal items available which are meatless. Veggie Kolache - an in store made puff pastry filled with mushrooms, spinach, tomato, and "white cheese" (it's white American cheese a.k.a. pasturized processed Swiss cheese). This was a tasty treat which they reheat for three minutes in their convection oven (not microwaved) and it puts a nice finish on it. It could be an entrée for small appetites and is reasonably priced at $3.75 I hope someday they will switch to any "white cheese" other than American White Cheese, such as Swiss, Provolone, or Mozzarella. Egg & Potato breakfast burrito - filled with egg, potato, corn, sour cream, green chile, green pepper, and black beans. These are made at one of their stores in Colorado and brought to Cheyenne each morning by the owner. I asked and was told the green chile was meatless. It is served with salsa (if desired). This is a very tasty breakfast entrée and not overpriced at $5.25 I got a 16 Oz Cappuccino which comes with "two shots" which gave me a nice lift and was tasty enough to enjoy without any sweetener. They will ask if you want it "wet" or "dry" which refers to how much foam you prefer. This was one of the better coffees I've had in Cheyenne. If you're downtown this ranks with my other favorites. It's reasonably priced at $3.90 I've given them a suggestion to pass on to the owner, please identify vegetarian items on the menu so customers who want meatless items don't have to ask questions about each item he or she is interested in. If they would take the suggestions about marking the menu for vegetarian items and use real cheese instead of "pasturized processed white cheese" I would raise their 4 stars I'm rating them to 5. If your looking for a quick bite and good coffee, skip the big chain places and try here. I think you'll enjoy it. I did. Bon Appétit. read more

We were just passing through Cheyenne on our way west and needed something quick for breakfast. The Crooked Cup had a lot of yummy choices and the sweet couple (and baby) working behind the counter were very good. I got a bagel sandwich and a latte, both of which hit the spot. It was also nice to see locals come through and be greeted by name. I would definitely revisit The Crooked Cup if I ever find myself in Cheyenne again. read more
