I want to give Dennys 5 stars. Really I do. Because it's a great All-American place to eat with great choices for breakfast-lunch-dinner and they have some great fit and fare choices for less than 550 calories. Plus they have kids eat free Thursdays which is awesome. Their prices are great on everything. But last night there was a long wait, my silverware cleanliness was not 100% up to snuff (however it was replaced by a friendly manager), and I had to ask for my Gluten Free English Muffin that was supposed to come with my Tilapia Ranchero, three times. I finally got it after I finished my whole dinner so it was basically "dessert". What it comes down to though is like another reviewer says you have to review in context to the kind of place you are eating at. And I'd take Dennys over an overpriced mom and pop diner any day. Dennys has been on my roster of favorite restaurants for breakfasts since 1978 when I discovered them while living in San Diego. Grand slam breakfasts are the deal of the century and my favorite for lunch is always the club sandwich with wavy fries. The Centereach Denny's has a wonderful staff of friendly attentive servers. When I go to a restaurant I look for several things, of course the food needs to be good but I like the restaurant to be clean, well lit, nice music and friendly service. The Centereach Denny's checks off everything on my wish list! All you haters that bash Denny's as if you're reviewing a four star French restaurant should rate restaurants in the proper context. The moons over my hammy (scrambled egg grilled ham and cheese) was shockingly good, but the hashbrowns were boring. Resturant was incredibly disgusting. Bathrooms were covered in pee and upon entry, all the tables were not bussed and covered in dirty plates and utensils with 1 table of people still in the restaurant. Our server C.J claimed " We couldn't get shakes because he had to make them ". When taking our food orders, he never asked how we wanted our meat cooked!! I have been to Denny's before out of LI and this one to me just seems a step better and cleaner than the rest, maybe because it's new I dunno. Me and my girlfriend love this place. It has good food for unmatched prices. Great 4,5,6 dollar menus. For $6 I get some chocolate chip pancakes, eggs, and bacon or sausage. The chocolate chip pancakes are almost on par with Ihops, but not as expensive. I'm not always full, but for $6 I am full enough. Don't understand all the complaints. If I could have given this Denny's no stars I would have. My friend suggested we go because she loves the BLT. Big mistake ! The best part of this place was the server. Took 30 min to get our food, 10 minutes just to get a water. When the food finally came out, our eggs and toast were cold and hash browns were undercooked. The eggs had this slimy film next to it that looked like phlegm. Just think about putting that in your mouth for a second.... YUCK! I'm very impressed with this diner, as this is my first time visiting Denny's. I really enjoyed the build your own burger option, therefore I rate the food 4/5 stars. Service was VERY friendly! I go to Denny's every now and then because of the convenience. It is very close to me, so it is a quick and inexpensive meal. I'm giving it four stars because the breakfast is good, and I'm not the biggest fan of them for anything besides breakfast. They recently added Reese's pancakes, so I had to try them. Very good choice. They give you two pancakes, two eggs, hash browns, and bacon. The pancakes are so large and loaded with chocolate syrup and peanut butter syrup. read more

Came here yesterday with a friend of mine. 3rd time going to Denny's and 2nd time coming to this location. Definitely wasn't my best experience. We got here around 11 AM on a Sunday, so I expected it to be busy. Our waiter was very nice, but almost too nice. Kept asking us if everything was ok and if I wanted more coffee and meanwhile our food took a long time to come out. I got the lumberjack breakfast which was very good. Very good pancakes and the ham, bacon and sausage we're on point as well as my over easy eggs that I dipped my toast into. Service was ok but both my friend and I got cramps and runs. All I had was eggs, butter and water. I brought my own food as well because I am diabetic. Server told me the gf eggs were cooked in a separate skillet, but I wonder if that is true because I had bad cramps immediately and still have them a few days later.
