Dennys has been on my roster of favorite restaurants for breakfasts since 1978 when I discovered them while living in San Diego. Grand slam breakfasts are the deal of the century and my favorite for lunch is always the club sandwich with wavy fries. The Centereach Denny's has a wonderful staff of friendly attentive servers. When I go to a restaurant I look for several things, of course the food needs to be good but I like the restaurant to be clean, well lit, nice music and friendly service. The Centereach Denny's checks off everything on my wish list! All you haters that bash Denny's as if you're reviewing a four star French restaurant should rate restaurants in the proper context. The moons over my hammy (scrambled egg grilled ham and cheese) was shockingly good, but the hashbrowns were boring. Rude waitress. Been sitting here for over an hour and haven't gotten our food. Got a nasty attitude when i asked when we were getting it. She said she didn't know. All I wanted was communication but for the last hour she has walked past us without even looking at us. Horrible experience and the place isn't full. What could be going on I have no idea but it's no excuse for being rude. Server will be getting no tip. Never done that before. Pass on this place. Update: was told food was being plated. Service here is really hit or miss. Once I had a really excellent server but most of the time it's someone who looks like they don't want to be there. Food is decent but the inside is rather nasty. Holes in seats, looks sad, is usually empty. read more

I have been to Denny's before out of LI and this one to me just seems a step better and cleaner than the rest, maybe because it's new I dunno. Me and my girlfriend love this place. It has good food for unmatched prices. Great 4,5,6 dollar menus. For $6 I get some chocolate chip pancakes, eggs, and bacon or sausage. The chocolate chip pancakes are almost on par with Ihops, but not as expensive. I'm not always full, but for $6 I am full enough. Don't understand all the complaints. With prices like these it's hard to complain, bad service or not. I have always found the service to be average myself. read more

This is an update. They cleaned up the inside of Denny's. They put in new carpet, furniture and it doesn't stink inside anymore. If I could have given this Denny's no stars I would have. My friend suggested we go because she loves the BLT. Big mistake ! The best part of this place was the server. She had so many tables yet was great. Down to the food horrible. What my kids did eat gave them all diarrhea ! The utensils were dirty. The place itself was dirty. The only thing good in this particular Denny's location is the Chicken Fried Steak with mashed potatoes and string beans. Don't ever order pancakes from here, they use frozen precooked pancakes, one time my daughter ordered them, the center of the pancakes were still particularly frozen. Bathrooms were covered in pee and upon entry, all the tables were not bussed and covered in dirty plates and utensils with 1 table of people still in the restaurant. Took 30 min to get our food, 10 minutes just to get a water. When the food finally came out, our eggs and toast were cold and hash browns were undercooked. The eggs had this slimy film next to it that looked like phlegm. Just think about putting that in your mouth for a second.... YUCK! My food arrived and one of my eggs were broken, not a big deal, I am going to cut it anyway. She had the cook make me another set of eggs just because it was broken! Now that was service! I go to Denny's every now and then because of the convenience. It is very close to me, so it is a quick and inexpensive meal. I'm giving it four stars because the breakfast is good, and I'm not the biggest fan of them for anything besides breakfast. They recently added Reese's pancakes, so I had to try them. Very good choice. They give you two pancakes, two eggs, hash browns, and bacon. The pancakes are so large and loaded with chocolate syrup and peanut butter syrup. read more

Came here yesterday with a friend of mine. 3rd time going to Denny's and 2nd time coming to this location. Definitely wasn't my best experience. We got here around 11 AM on a Sunday, so I expected it to be busy. Our waiter was very nice, but almost too nice. Kept asking us if everything was ok and if I wanted more coffee and meanwhile our food took a long time to come out. I got the lumberjack breakfast which was very good. Very good pancakes and the ham, bacon and sausage we're on point as well as my over easy eggs that I dipped my toast into. You may think that because this establishment is the only "Denny's" around, that there would be price taken in this restaurant and that it would be a good face for the company, sadly you would be wrong. This establishment is horrible, from the lack of customer service to the grease soaked food, not to mention the FILTHY bathroome! I can only hope for the next 12hrs my body fights the germs I likely ingested by the billions, and I do not come down with food poisoning. As for our waiter "Johnathon" you deserved much less that the 10% tip you received. I genuinely feel that I was beyond generous. Our waiter Johnathon dropped the food at the table and never returned.
