    Grand Slam Breakfast
    Bill S.

VETERANS DAY BREAKFAST 2023 Denny's, I thank you for recognizing Veterans by offering a free Grand Slam Breakfast to all Veterans. My wife and I walk in and are shown to a booth by the window. The COVID 19 large plastic separators are still hanging from the ceiling. It doesn't bother me, its still a strange reminder of the past. Grand Slam is just what it says, knocked it out of the park with two Bacon Strips, Two Sausage Links, Two Pancakes and Two Eggs. This is a lot of food! I usually have a cuppa coffee and a breakfast bar for breakfast, I needed a nap after eating this meal. The pancakes were warm and eggs were cooked they way I liked them and coffee kept coming. Denny's, thank you for your generosity.

My experiences with Denny's while traveling around the country have gone from pretty good to downright awful. This location falls somewhere in between. The few times I have been here were both in mornings for breakfast. Decent coffee, and you can't go wrong with their Grand Slam. Pancakes are usually the best option here anyway. Service has been ok by me, but nothing all that special. It is what it is. A chain resto. Can't expect a Michelin Star dining experience.

2023-07-29: Great place for items from their breakfast menu any time of day. Ask for their "Everyday Value Menu" in addition to their regular menu and you'll find great deals for your money. They are very accommodating with whatever you ask for, and if you're not happy with your food, they always try to do their best to fulfill what you want. I definitely recommend this place for a good meal at a great price.

I was really sad someone walked in on me

I was trying to take a poo and the lock wasn't working and someone walked in on me and, the food wasn't that good.

Take-Away order, No Maple Syrup to go available. Need I say anymore? They just don't care or want to organize this venue.

    55 and over $8.99 breakfast.

Disgusting food. The worst restaurant in Centereach. Avoid at all costs. Have tried the Grand Slam and the Burger. Gross and cold.

The service here has gotten progressively worse, to the point it has reach today, which I would classify as complete and total shit.

That describes the last time I was at Nappi's Nook, over two years ago. Flash forward to this morning and we're looking at an update that shows a much different experience this time around. You see that first time at Nappi's was not long after they had opened. Kinks were definitely still being worked out and at the time, I just couldn't see it as a place worth choosing over other breakfast spots. But seeing reviews, awards, and that the place was still standing years later led my wife and I to come check them out again. This second time around we snagged a table (they definitely get crowded quickly) and had some very friendly service from our waitress. Things started with their Nappicinos which were a huge misfire that first time, but a definite improvement today. My wife got the Biscoff variety while I got the Peanut butter cup and boy were they tasty. A good balance of coffee and sweet flavors. Now when it came to food, last time I went with chicken and waffles which (from pics) still seemed like something I might enjoy more elsewhere and so instead, I landed on The Stove Top Skillet. This was a combo of onions, peppers, potatoes, sausage, cheese, and over easy eggs. It came out piping hot and it was honestly impressive in how it tasted. I liked the thinly sliced sausage coins and although the pepper pieces were a little massive, they were soft enough with everything mixing together nicely. As for the wife, she went with a special in the form of the hash omelette which was exactly as it sounded with Swiss cheese and paprika hollandaise sauce on top along with breakfast potatoes on the side. I tried it and it was pretty tasty as well. One last item we chose to order was a single beignet for $2.50 as a side option. Sometimes we're just not feeling a full sweet breakfast, but this little fried ball filled with chocolate did the trick. Was it comparable to Cafe Du Monde? No way, but it was still quality. Honestly, the whole meal was quality and definitely several steps up from that first round a few years back. The only true gripe I can give is the soundtrack to Nappi's. The music, a touch louder than one might think at 9 in the morning, was a little too trance/dance/club for the vibe of breakfast. Maybe on a Sunday for a boozy brunch, but perhaps some music changes would create a little more of a "Nook" feel. Perhaps? Overall though, I'm really very impressed and glad to have given Nappi's Nook a second shot. It may have taken some time for that to happen, but it showed that this place was the real deal because it was still around, and winning Best of LI awards in the meantime. Perhaps a place to get to on the earlier side, but for sure a location I know I will be returning to for round three much sooner than expected.

The staff kept things moving even though the restaurant was packed and they were always quick with recommendations and explanations for anyone new to the whole boil bag experience. There were a couple of moments where things took a bit longer than expected but the team always made up for it with great attitudes and genuine effort. Overall it added to the laid back fun vibe rather than taking away from it. Now the food is where Voodoo Crab absolutely shines. If you're a seafood lover you're going to feel like you found treasure. The boil bags are unreal stuffed with juicy shrimp tender crab legs mussels corn potatoes and all the buttery saucy goodness you could ever ask for. The Voodoo sauce is the clear winner spicy savory and addictive without overpowering the seafood. Every bite is messy delicious and worth wearing a bib for. The fried baskets were just as great crispy seasoned perfectly and definitely sharable. And the appetizers hit the spot too especially the calamari and hush puppies. The drink menu is a whole adventure by itself. Creative cocktails big flavors and the kind of drinks that make you say "ok maybe I'll have just one more." Greeted warmly greeted when we first entered with only a five minute wait ( we had a reservation and I highly recommend making one). Again warmly welcomed by our server Nicole who provided an outstanding service throughout the evening. Nicole was friendly, engaging and offered excellent dinner and drink suggestions. Live music was on tap on this Friday evening which did make the dining room rather loud for holding table conversations but worth the live music being played that evening. The cocktail menu offers a good and varied selection of mixed drinks and wine and the mixed drinks are both flavorful and expertly presented. I would highly recommend both the Flappers Folly ( a refreshing floral mix) and the Espresso Martini drinks. Started off with the hot honey & bacon brussel sprout appetizers which were perfectly flavored with the honey and bacon bits over crispy brussel sprouts. All main dish items were very good. The Old Sport Burgers were juicy, flavorful and all cooked to perfection served with crispy string French fries. The French Dip Au Jus was well seasoned and not to dry with a flavorful au jus. I would highly recommend the Gatsby Grain dish bowel. Shredded chicken served over jasmine rice and vegetables was outstanding and served with a side salad. Restaurant manager Cathy was very visible in the dining room checking in with every table and asking for feedback which you don't see very often nowadays. Even got a personal tour of the new party room ( looking for a location for a future event).
