I give ZERO stars but that wasn't an option. I definitely will not be going back to My Hero. I called 3 times to phone in an order - the man screamed "please hold!" and I did for at 5 minutes then hung up. Second time, they answered and hung up on me. 3rd time, I finally got someone. I placed my order. I went to pick up my order 15 minutes later, as I was instructed. I walked in - the jingle on door sounded, yet the three people working did not acknowledge my presence. I waited patiently for about 5 minutes without being acknowledged. I finally made my own presence known and was given my food. I can tell you, the two heroes were NOT worth the wait. I've been going here more and more lately, a buck less than the competition and friendlier to boot; when they're on, they're on; good heros, good coleslaw, decent service... Tj's and My Hero have been feuding in the ranks for all my years growing up in the patchogue area, and I had Tj's up top for years, I'm at my hero 3 times a month minimum now. I barely hit TJs as they always seem to mess up my order and take no responsibility. Skip Quiznos, skip whatever crappy deli you've found in the area, My Hero wins! A few of my favorite sandwiches that keep me coming back despite Seaqua opening up on the other side of town are: The "Grand Slam" - I add chicken cutlet to this already meaty sandwich with prosciutto, salami, cappy ham, provolone, lettuce and tomato topped with oil and vinegar. & The "Heaton Heater" (this needs texture so I add onion and/or tomato) with everroast chicken, BBQ & hot sauce, Monterey Jack cheese on a toasted garlic hero. You can't go wrong with the "Scooter" (another big fave) or the "Subway Series" - sort of interchangeable subs, one with pastrami and coleslaw, the other with corned beef n' Kraut Both delicious. There are a few good ones I haven't mentioned so explore the menu yourselves soon! In my opinion you should skip the place next door, this sandwich shop is ten times more satisfying and will save you from the doldrums of lackluster pizza, they'll have ya saying my hero for sure! Try the breakfast sandwiches as well, they rock and are made til pretty late in the day. read more

I've come here 3 times and each time the sandwiches have been great. There's obviously tons of delis on what seems like every corner on LI but this place is EXACTLY what I needed for a solid hero spot. TJ's has been raved about for as long as I can remember but I was never really blown away. Thankfully I found My Hero, and it really has become "My Hero" :) There's about 6-7 small tables to dine in, tons of different Hero options, good drink selection, good chip selection and most importantly it's very reasonably priced. I've heard great things about this place but never found myself stopping here until just recently from a recommendation from my sister. It was an early Saturday morning before a St. Paddy's day parade so you know we needed to fill our belly before the beers started pouring. It's your typical deli/sandwich shop with a couple tables to dine in. There wasn't much of a line which I was happy about and we were greeted immediately by the super friendly staff. There were three of us separating 6 sandwiches into different orders and there was no problem with that, and no card minimum (score)! A couple egg sandwiches were ordered, which after seeing them I had a little bit of fomo, but lawddyyy when I got my sandwich I was NOT disappointed one bit! I stuck with a classic, BLT, added onion and cheddar for some flare, on a roll. This this was a beast, with crispy bacon and fresh LTO. They definitely took their time putting everything together and you could tell. Prices were reasonable, food was amazing, and their iced tea was on point. Keep up the great work! I'd say 4 out of 5 times meals is great and prices are lower than other delis. Once and awhile you will get a bad sandwich but all in all I order here every single time I want roast beef bc they have the best roast beef around 90% of time cooked perfectly. Portions are kind of small compared to other delis where they put a ton of coldcuts on your sandwich but it's a decent amount cheaper and it's quality. read more

We tried this place for the first time through Uber Eats. We tried 3 half subs. the Bern Baby Bern and and the Stanton both were very good! We also had the fajita sub but we threw that one out. We didn't like the sauce on it! Overall good heros, we will definitely try again! read more

I was in that mood today and needed the only thing on Earth that would satisfy me........a sandwich! A hero to be precise. After checking many Yelp reviews on sandwich shops I decided on "My Hero." It had a lot of positive reviews and TJ's has been done by me enough. I pulled up right to the front and walked in. A good sign was they were playing Captain America on the TV, so to me they make good choices. Looking around I noticed the place was small, also they had for round tables with plastic black chairs. But I'm not here to look at all the Yankee memorabilia (someone is a fan) I came in for a sandwich! My pick was the Jeter Fajita, and I feel it was a wise choice. At $9.01 it was a handful with soft hero bread. They put the right amount of everything on it. They heated it up and used Boar's Head meats. This place is worthy of the title "Hero Shop." Full disclosure: My family has been coming to this place for YEARS. It's a deli. You go in, there's a meat counter, a cash register and a rack of chips. Few sports collectibles adorn the back shelves over the meat cutter. A couple of boxes of comic books are for sale, and have been, for years. The food has always been fresh and the family is always friendly and genuinely warm. The Grand Slam is one of our favorites and their soups are usually pretty good too. We're also fans of their chocolate chip cookies. If you're in the area, it's a great place to stop for lunch. read more

In the past, we have ordered a BLT on a roll .. and it was great. fresh bacon, just the perfect sandwich. The past two times we have ordered from there, BLTs again.. the bacon is old, burnt and drenched in grease. Tomatoes were unripe and the shredded lettuce was just a DISASTER. read more

A few of us have been going here for a while now. They have been ok, but im thinking then had to have changed hands and are under new management. There breakfast has been subpar as of lately. LOVE MY HERO!!! I I was introduced to my hero when I began teaching in a nearby School District in 2001. I love the Bronx bomber hero minus the brown gravy or have them put it on the side. I love their chef salad as well. They use Boar's Head only cold cuts which is the only kind I will eat so that's a plus in my book. They make their own delicious sweet tea that you know some delis don't even make any more. I've never gotten any breakfast sandwiches or anything from them. We've used the deli to cater school lunches for 20 ppl to 100+ & they make great Heroes as well as wrap/sandwich platters along with trays of green salads... we've had the regular mixed green salad as well as a caesar & greek. I have been to my hero several times, had them cater my parties at home and work and have always had success. Their portions blow tj's away. When you get a hero at this place you actually get MEAT!! not like tj's where for $10, you get bread and three slices of roast beef. i could get that at subway for $5. Was in the area and looking for a quick breakfast sandwich, so glad I stopped in this place. Delicious sandwiches and breakfast at such a great price. So hard to find a good egg sandwich and seriously theirs are awesome. Warm and welcoming, order came up fast and just what I wanted. For some reason my original review is not visible (again) to the public, i want to make sure it is. Maybe i can save a few people from getting sick. Avoid this place please. First thing is first every single good review has to be immediate family or friends of owners. If you go here personally you will see exactly what i mean & what i am talking about. I went here not knowing what i was walking into. Once i walked in i was instantly put off. Do to the overall condition & look of the deli in the inside. It looked like a miniature grocery store you see in a horror movie literally in the middle of no where with spider webs all over the inside & a crackling wood floor full of dust with small little tables & chairs that wobble. Unfortunately time was not on my side due to being on my lunch break & new to the area. The service is literally a joke. As i was placing my order a woman & man gave me an attitude because i ordered my food to "my" licking . I ordered Cold cuts with a roll to make my own sandwich instead of ordering one of there sandwiches on there menu, which i do to examine what exactly im putting in my sandwich especially With the overall condition of the deli. When i got back to the office i open my cold cuts & the turkey had green mold on it as if it was sitting there for months in a crappy fridge. The cheese looked as if it was literally months old. The roll was ruff & definitely stale. The smell was off for every item. So i have just simply avoided that deli since. About a year later the office asked if i wanted to order something from My Hero. Not realizing the name i placed my order of a turkey sandwich. Once again for the second time the same exact situation occurred. Mold on turkey, cheese & roll was stale. Thats when it triggered in my brain that this is the same deli. My coworker ordered a fajita that literally looked like trouble, after eating a small portion of it she literally said i cant eat this i feel sick. I really do not like to even write reviews of any place but i literally had to sign up for yelp to warn people to avoid this place at all cost please. This place should not be in business period, they are literally going to make people sick or even worse & cause people food poisoning. I have been ordering their Caesers Grilled Chicken Salad, I've had it at least ten times and never disappoints. This is a must have at least once a week for me! Romaine lettuce with garlic croutons and the homemade dressing is THE BEST! The grilled chicken is so flavorful and grilled to perfection. Cool Yankee memorabilia and friendly service greet you when you come in the door. Great breakfast sandwiches and unique hero's (named after Yankees past and present) never dissapoint, but their Philly Cheesesteak (not named after a Yankee), is incredible.
