You know those Sunday mornings that almost turn into noon and you just don't feel like making brunch? That was me yesterday. It was my son's last day of Christmas break vacation and I was engrossed in a book and didn't feel like cooking. I pulled up Yelp and saw Denny's. I haven't been to this restaurant in way too many years to count. I ordered two breakfast omelettes and a grilled chicken salad for delivery. It was almost noon my husband and son enjoyed their omelettes but said the hash browns were soaked in grease. My salad was fine. A little damp but nothing that stopped me from devouring it. Did it inspire a return visit? Maybe. Time will tell. Just happy they provided the service and I could finish the book I was reading. read more

Did me and my kids specifically come here just because of the last season of Breaking Bad?  Yes. (If you know... you know.) And while it started as a bit of a gag - we were (mostly) impressed. I believe there were only two ladies holding it down in the front and nothing but respect to the both of them.  Fast, friendly, efficient... they were miracle workers. The three of us dug the food... home fries that were properly cooked with a great crust, bacon that was (mostly) crispy, maybe the portions weren't "Jersey diner" size but we were all pleasantly surprised with the grub. Even their green smoothie was shockingly delicious (all that sugar, I bet). My biggest issue?  The coffee. A place that's breakfast-centric lives or dies by their roasted beans and... ...it was a small portion in a small cup, not even filled up. ...no refills made/offered. ...it just didn't taste good ....it was almost $4?! Would we come back again (overlooking that we live over 5 hours away)?  Ahhh... maybe. Used to be a favorite restaurant for breakfast. On our most recent visit , they were out of pancakes ( can you believe it?) . Even worse the silverware was dirty and we had to request clean utensils. The toast was so hard you could break a tooth. I think the new management is not doing well... I know I shan't return anytime soon. read more

It's Denny's. I should've expected less. But I got less instead. My lady ordered a country fried steak. Only when I had finished my burger did the waitress decide to tell us that they didn't have it anymore. Zero regard for the customer in a diner that is essentially dead. Also, my lettuce was frozen. never have I had an experience like this morning in the canandaigua Denny's. I ordered a big dipper, which is supposed to be pot roast. Instead they brought me shredded roast beef from the day before. It was salty and slimy. I could not eat it. I brought it home and threw it in the garbage, I did not even complain. But when they told me the 5 dollar coupons are no good if you use AARP?? AARP is not another promotion. Promotions last a limited time. AARP is always a discount. The waitress was great, the manager sucked and was very rude to me. I guess I will sell the gift cards I got for Christmas. I will not waste another penny there!! read more

Dennys have gone downhill quickly. This one for example. The food is not great. It's slow, the waitstaff can be surly, and the portions are small. I ordered the "diet" omelet with seasonal fruit. My omelet was runny, the Spinach tasted old and it was shriveled beyond what I've ever seen cooked spinach to be. My seasonal fruit? Green grapes. And my English muffin wasn't very warm at all. We gave it 3 more tries because of their breakfast slams but each time it was a real disappointment. When we complained, the manager made excuses. Sad. read more

This was the best meal we have had in a long time. When we go to a restaurant, the attraction is the food. If your motivation is a radio jingle, posh ambience, topless staff, Denny's isn't for you. It was very busy, but good food is going to make a place busy. Our waitress (I think her name is Shaqueena) was very friendly and funny, not officious and stiff like some places. We used to eat here every time we visited family for the last 2 years. Always with 8 people. Even during covid had no issue getting inn. This morning I was treated so rudely. First was told they couldn't and then they didn't know how long it would take. By the way they were not that busy. Was told I had to wait outside (first time being told that) left my name and number. Went outside, the rest of our party arrived. We waited an hour and no call, it's now been 2 hours and no call. Never again with they get our business. Please apologize to your waitresses since they lost out on the $50 tip that we leave. read more

My wife and I have eaten at this dump and that's saying more than it's worth. The meals are so totally outrageous.I ordered the lasagna dinner. When I finally got it it looked terrible and hot outside yet slightly frozen still inside. It looked like more dog food than anything else. The help looks like they were dragged in from the tattoo shop and back street alleys. Service was so slow and there were only six customers total at that time. I order a mango smoothie and it was absolutely disgusting like it's been sitting out for hours and it was extremely warm. Than I order a burger with onions rings and the burger was way to greasy to even eat like it taste like it's been sitting in grease all day and the onion rings were cold. I had "breakfast" tonight at the Denny's in Canandaigua, NY. Top rate experience and top rate staff. While I was waiting for my friend to arrive, I had a delightful conversation with Jessica L.......what an awesome young lady with an awesome personality. Then there was our waitress, Stephanie, who was equally nice, efficient with careful attention detail.....delightful personality and excellent service. Finally, Manager Sue came by and stood and talked to my friend, Laurie, and I for maybe 15 minutes......all three employees quite gregarious and exhibited the qualities you would want with people oriented career. My mother and I wanted to take the kids to lunch today after school and decided this would be a good option. We arrived and was immediately sat at a corner booth That had a good view of the food coming out. Our server was kind but very quick while at the table. The food arrived rather quickly and it all looked amazing. My toddlers had the build your own grand slam jrs (which they choose all three items to be chocolate chip pancakes), my mother ordered a salad with grilled chicken and I ordered the super bird sandwich. The pancakes were perfectly made but the cook miscounted and shorted us 6 pans cakes (not that it was a big deal). The serve noticed and quickly brought them to us in a to go box because we all knew my toddlers weren't going to eat 9 pancakes each. My mother's salad was perfect she said. The portion was very nice and it was even presented neatly. A super bird sandwich is Turkey, bacon, tomato and cheese grilled on bread. Other than my bread being a little burned it was very delicious especially dipped in their honey mustard sauce. The fries were perfectly cooked and salted. After we all filled up on food I put the rest of their pancakes in the Togo box, stacked all our plates and trash neatly, and stated getting the kids in their coats to leave. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star was the bread being a over cooked and when we were standing up to leave the server walked in front of us to grab stuff off the table blocking us in the booth. If it was busy and they needed the table I could understand but it was slow so I wasn't sure why she couldn't wait 30 seconds for us to walk out of the booth. It was just awkward standing there holding a car seat and trying to hold back the other two toddlers from going under the table to escape because they were just ready to leave. read more

Me my sister my son and my fiancé all went to Denny's. I ordered the sampler which had Onion rings, boneless buffalo chicken wing bites, and mozzarella sticks. Which was all cold and my blue cheese was ranch dressing. My sister ordered a turkey sandwich but didn't want cheese even though they served it with cheese. My sons food was good it was Mac and cheese and bananas. My fiancé ordered a burger and fries and his was good. We tipped. We waited about 20 minutes for our food. I love this place but every now and then I dislike this place. read more

My husband, my friend stopped at Denny's for diner after being at my grandson's play at school 3/24/18. We have gone to Denny's often, its close by and we don't have many choices for a quick meal and we have usually like the food choices. This evening was awful. I had soup and sandwich. The sandwich was grilled and so soggy the butter (?) it was grilled with was dripping from the sandwich on to my plate. The waitress said they were out of soup but then came back and said they did have some. When she brought our soup out it was just slightly warn and grease was still on the top of the soup (chicken noodle). My husband ordered A grand slamwich. It was so full of grease that he could barely pick it up. Every bite he took the grease just dripped out. His hashbrowns were not cooked enough. I was trying to see who was cooking and it looked like there were kids cooking and obviously with no experience. The three of us felt sick after leaving there and spent many trips to the bathroom. Whom ever was hired to cooks should be checked again for what experience he/she has had. Our waitress, Vicki was very nice and was a great waitress. She was new to the job and nervous but very polite and attentive. We did not complain to her as it was not her fault that the cook or chef ruined our meal. We were so disappointed, as we have gone to Denny's many times and have seldom had a complaint. I don't know what the changes have been recently but the manager or owner needs to sit down and review things and reevaluate the Cook. Oh and I nearly forgot the restroom was dirty and one of the toilet's had overflown and the floor was full of water. My friend made one of the employees aware of the problem and 1/2 hour or so later I went in to wash my from the grease on my hands and no one had bothered to even make people aware that there was so much water on the floor so no one would slip and fall. Last Sunday they were out of apples but didn't tell us until afterwards. So my cranberry-apple salad came with just extra cranberries. No apples to dip for kids either. They were also out of to-go containers for our leftovers. This Sunday they are out of mac and cheese, a disappointment for the kids. Only one half of the front door works, and it's been that way for at least a couple weeks. Besides being an inconvenience it's a safety hazard if there's ever a fire. read more

On a recent vacation, our family enjoyed a breakfast at Dennys in Canandaigua. The food was great and very inexpensive, considering you might spend the same amount at a Dunkin' Donuts w/o the great service we had at Dennys. And the location was between two lakes! Of course it would be easy to find another restaurant nearby that would cost twice the price. We,however, would rather spend our hard earned money on other things than overpriced food. My boyfriend and I have been to this particular Denny's many times. Only once have we had good service and that was at 1am. Today, 3/1/2020 we came in with 7 adults and a toddler around 3:30pm and it will be our last time in there. It took 15 minutes for us to put a drink order in and by that time we were ready to order our food. It took another 10 minutes to receive our drinks which consisted of 1 smoothie, 3 strawberry lemonades, and 3 ice waters (none of which is too difficult to make). When bringing our drinks over, my boyfriend was in the middle of a conversation to his brother and told him "maybe you should get a real job" to which the waitress butted in and said, "who me? I make more than those with a college education!" As you can imagine, she didn't get a tip from any of us after this because apparently she's so well off financially. Somebody in our party requested that she receive her side salad ahead of time (which by the way consisted of brown lettuce). She didn't receive it until the food came and when we said something to the waitress about it she gave us attitude and said "there's only two of us right now okay and I'm doing the best I can okay I'm sorry" and walked away. Great customer service! She didn't offer us dessert but 4 people in our party wanted some. So, since she didn't feel like ringing up all of our separate checks again, she gave us 3 pieces of cheesecake and an apple crisp for free. Probably a total of a $15 loss for the company but I'd say we deserved it after the lengthy wait times and the attitude we received on at least 2 different occasions during this particular visit. read more

I'm Very disappointed....This used to be a great place to eat, now with the new management, service is terrible. We went there for Sunday Brunch; waited nearly 20 minutes for someone to come to our table. Eventually it was the Manager who came with no apology, just said it would be another twenty minutes. We went to this crap hole last night (around 12:00) so that I could get a cup of coffee and a small bite while waiting for my daughter to get done with Ball and hanging out with friends afterward. Just killing time so I didn't have to go home then come back out. The manager was too busy to seat us and so was the loser that was supposed to be our waiter. There were 2 other booths with customers that he was taking care of. So the manager had a new girl seat us, which was fine. The new girl took our drink order and came back with my glass of water and to let us know that the waiter would bring the other drinks to us. He did. A coffee and a hot chocolate. He dropped them off, with no creamer and never asked if we wanted whipped cream on the hot chocolate. I took a sip of the coffee even though I didn't have creamer, and it was barely warm. I checked the hot chocolate and it was the same. We waited for a good 20 minutes for the lousy waiter with the tiny pony tail on top his head to come back and he never did. He went outside and was standing around here and there, but never came back. So, I decided to see what the coffee and hot chocolate cost and leave the cash on the table and we left. $6.00 for a couple of sips of cold coffee and cold chocolate water. Unbelievable. As we are leaving, the manager is walking back into the restaurant with a group of people. Obviously jut hanging out outside while the staff was being as worthless as she was. I have gone to this place a few times during the day and it was fine. Apparently they put all the useless ones on the night shift when it's not busy and still, they're useless. read more
