Tucked away off Victor Street in Barstow, this was a fun find while driving back to Los Angeles from Vegas over Memorial Day weekend. Big props to Haley M., who was basically running a one-woman show and somehow kept the entire place moving with a great attitude and solid service. That alone made the stop memorable. The location has a cool, laid-back vibe with plenty to keep people entertained while grabbing food and drinks. They've got two billiards tables, a dart board, and all kinds of classic bar games, board games, and card games, including UNO, which is a family favorite. They also have several televisions. The food was all good too. I really enjoyed the Green Chili Burger, and everyone else in my party seemed genuinely happy with their meals as well. I felt they were trying to nickel and dime when I got the bill, i was charged for a side of ranch, a side of BBQ, and had no idea I was being up charged for the onion rings. I didn't say a word, but it hit wrong with me. .75 points deducted. What especially stood out to me, though, was the Memorial Day place setting displayed near the front entrance honoring our veterans and fallen heroes. It was simple, respectful, and genuinely touching. See my picture. That detail said a lot about the heart behind this place. If you're making the Vegas-to-LA drive and want something more memorable than the usual freeway fast-food stop, this place is definitely worth checking out. Great atmosphere, friendly energy, and one of those spots you end up talking about later.

A Little Mexican Food Gem in the Middle of Nowhere!…read more Okay, Barstow... you surprised us! We stumbled upon this charming little Mexican restaurant tucked inside a La Quinta hotel, which is probably not where we expected to find such a delicious and authentic meal! We stopped in for Sunday brunch and were so glad we did. The staff was friendly and welcoming, everything was clean, and the food was the real star of the show. We had chile verde, pozole, and homemade tortillas--and those tortillas were SO good! Everything tasted fresh, authentic, and homemade. They also had an omelette bar, plus some very tempting churros and donuts for those who believe breakfast should end with dessert. (We do.) Honestly, this was such a fun little find in an unexpected place. If you're road-tripping through Barstow, this is absolutely a place to put on your list. Whether you're heading between LA and Vegas or just passing through, it's worth making the stop. This location is much larger than most and INCREDIBLY busy, with a line like Disneyland, but the team members do a great job keeping it moving. Seating inside was super-packed! There were several open tables outside which we had to be at anyway because of the pups. Luckily, it was a nice day. Our order came out surprisingly fast and just as we ordered. The freshness, taste and portions were consistent with other locations -- In-N-Out does this amazingly well. The place was well maintained with team members cleaning continuously. Always a satisfying meal, from a friendly team, at a great price point. You just can't beat it.
