a plate with a sandwich and hash browns

This Denny's is in the Fleetwood area and has been around for a couple years. This was my first visit with family. It has been a few years since I last dined at a Denny's. The menu selection is larger than what I last remembered. We ordered the moons over hammy sandwich, classic benny, junior grand slam, and orange juice. The orange juice was a bit overpriced for Minute Maid at $4.39 for a glass. The junior grand slam was the perfect size for our toddler to enjoy a meal. The moons over hammy brings back a lot of nostalgia for me. I used to love this during my college days and before I became a foodie exploring other non-chain options. My husband ordered the classic benny. There was a generous amount of hollandaise sauce and perfectly soft poached eggs. Service was good. Our server stopped by a couple times to check up on us and clear dirty plates. The restaurant was very busy by the time we left at 10 am. Definitely, this is a busy restaurant during the weekend brunch time.

I am sure all or most of us at least been to a Denny's restaurant nearby or somewhere close by once in our lifetime. Before the pandemic, this is the place to come to for an early morning meal or a late night snack when everywhere is closed. Well at least for my buddies and me when we where growing up and still do once awhile. I have to say each location varies a bit in term of service and quality of food. This is the new location in Surrey and came here a couple of times when it first opened during the Covid restrictions. It's one of the cleaner and younger staffs servicing this location. Anyways, here were the food we ordered during our last visit; 1. The sampler. I chose the chicken strips, fries and mozzarella sticks. Pretty fresh and decent and I always like their mozzarella sticks here since I was a kid. 2. Ultimate omelette. Pretty good, one of my favourite omelette to order here, but came a bit messy. 3. Lumberjack slam. Everywhere was okay except the bacon was over done. 4. Oreo milkshake. Pretty basic 5. Side of sausage links. Ordered it but never came, forgot to check the bill if they charged me or not. Overall, one of the newest location in Surrey so it's quite spacious and clean inside. The service was decent but could be a little more attentive in offering a refill. The food came pretty fast, nice and hot. They open till 11pm I believe but that's during the Covid restrictions period, might have changed but I don't think any Denny's opened 24 hours anymore.

Strawberry vanilla filled Crepe breakfast (order for 2 crepes), and a tea.

This seemed like a really great stop near the border which was a win as I was nearing hangry status. Funny enough, as we crossed the crosswalk in front of the restaurant the server was outside and happily greeted us and welcomed us in. It's a sort of long and narrow building with the cutest and most eclectic decor around. There was a young girl at the bar as we came in eating cut up pancakes, watching football, and I felt like I had hopped into a cousins kitchen for an impromptu brunch. We walked down the long, narrow hallway, passing cute signs and pictures before the restaurant opened up into a still small dining area with about six tables in front of a huge window that overlooked the harbor and the train tracks. It was quaint and cozy, and exactly what we were looking for. We both ordered a pretty basic breakfast. Mine was two eggs, potatoes, and toast and my partner got the same but with meat. Our server recommended the sausage patty, and it did not disappoint. The potatoes were out of this world slightly under seasoned, but nothing a little salt and pepper and hot sauce couldn't fix, but they were absolutely cooked to perfection so any under seasoning was easily forgettable. The potatoes were what I would normally call pan fried potatoes, but they were the perfect combination of soft and crunchy, and you could tell they were made with so much butter, which was much nicer in flavor than when these are cooked in heavy oil. The sourdough toast was delicious and the eggs were perfectly cooked. They definitely seemed like they were basic eggs and it would've been nice if they were a little more higher quality, but I recognize that that would've driven the overall price up. Food came out really quickly and coffees and waters were filled regularly. Our server was super attentive and you could hear her having conversations with regulars throughout our visit and it was an overall grade vibe. If you like hot sauce, I definitely recommend you try their Viking blood hot sauce. It's made locally and was absolutely delicious. Brought a nice smoky flavor without burning your face off. The meal was a little spendy. I think it was about $17 for the non-meat version and a couple extra bucks for the sausage patty. Coffee was good, but nothing to write home about. I was pleased that they accept cash or card as some of the previous reviews showed that their cash only but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. We will definitely be back!

During my last trip to Surrey, I made sure to stop by and fill up on caffeine and pastries. This location looks like an Apple Store from the outside with a modern glass exterior and minimalistic interior. From what my friends have told me, this location is much larger than their Downtown Vancouver location. Upon entering, the first thing I saw was Nemesis' vibrant colored boxes nicely lined up on a table next to the window for purchase in addition to merch (shirts, mugs, etc.) featuring their simplistic upside down blue heart logo. They switch out the coffee varieties on a regular basis, and so make sure to check their site first if you are looking for a certain bean! After perusing the merch, I made my way to the line and was captivated by the fancy high-end pastries in the glass counter. The company that makes the pastries is called Dope and they had everything from cookies to croissants to cakes and crullers. Prices were reasonable and I paid under $20 USD for four pastries. They had unique flavors including: strawberry & pistachio danish, tiramisu croissant, churro cruller, iced cap cruller, apple hojicha fritter, ube donut, and more. Like the Nemesis packaging, the Dope pastry boxes were art pieces on their own and probably the prettiest to-go boxes I've ever seen; they are a bright vibrant blue with their signature smile and tongue character logo and metallic writing. They literally look like designer shoe boxes. Nemesis features two seasonal drinks at a time, but they don't offer any flavored drinks otherwise and so if you're looking for a basic vanilla latte, this is not the place. The two seasonal drinks they were featuring in February were the Beet Root Latte and the Black Sesame Corn Latte (no coffee in this one though). Personally, neither quite appealed to me and so I just ordered a basic OAT MILK LATTE sweetened with simple syrup (you could alternatively get it sweetened with honey). The espresso was smooth and the oat milk was nice and creamy. To share with my family, I also ordered the... - APPLE HOJICHA FRITTER ($4.75 CAN) - as someone who doesn't normally like donuts, this fritter was the best fritter I've ever had and definitely on the not-to-sweet side. It was crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and full of apple pieces, apple spiced compote, and cinnamon. The hojicha dusting was subtle but added a nice slight earthiness to the pastry. I liked this pastry so much, I ended up ordering another one later on! - The ICED CAP CRULLER ($4.75 CAN) - this cruller was also fantastic and full of espresso flavor. The espresso cream filling and the condensed milk glaze were delicious and tasted like I was eating a Vietnamese coffee. 10/10 would get this again! - BROWN BUTTER BANANA CAKE ($5.75 CAN) - this cake was super moist and had a beautiful piping of cinnamon espresso buttercream on top. I'd say this one was the least unique of the pastries I ordered, but was a solid slice of banana bread and the buttercream was smooth and light. - CHOCOLATE ORANGE SUISSE ($7.50 CAN) - this pastry was the most interesting texture-wise as it has a crispy exterior that reminded me of chowmein noodles, wrapped around a croissant. The candied orange was very distinct and could be tasted in both the chocolate orange filling and the outside. While the most expensive of the pastries (probably because of the extra labor it takes for this one), I thoroughly enjoyed every bite and would order this one again too. The seating areas and bathrooms are clean. Service is excellent- we got our orders within 10 minutes after ordering and they come by to give you water and silverware as needed. TLDR, Nemesis is 1000% worth the stop and I can't wait to be back whenever I am in Surrey next. Overall, 5/5 for coffee and pastries, 5/5 for service, 5/5 for atmosphere

There were quite a few empty tables and the place felt pretty relaxed. I was doing a bit of work and ended up staying a little longer than the 90-minute table limit. One of the staff members came up to us and said, "Hey, you guys have been here longer than 90 minutes. You'll have to leave soon." I told him that was fine and asked if I could just finish my coffee. He said okay, but then about a minute later he came back with a to-go cup and said, "Here you go, you guys can leave now." Honestly, that caught me off guard. Especially since it wasn't busy and there were still plenty of open tables. During my first visit, Jimmy went above and beyond to make sure everything was great, and I don't think he would have handled it that way. The coffee is still great and I really like the space, but this experience definitely made me think twice about coming back.

It's rustic in that honest, country way: wood, warmth, and a smallish-town Squamish vibe that makes you slow down whether you meant to or not. The location does half the work for the ambiance, the rest comes from the feeling that someone actually cares about feeding you well. This is home-cooked brunch with intention. Portions are generous without being sloppy, and every plate feels thought out, like it's been tested by real people who eat breakfast for a living. The pancakes are the headline act--huge, fluffy, unapologetic, and exactly what you want when you're leaning back in your chair wondering if you should order another coffee or surrender to a food coma. And if the night before got a little loose, the double Caesar is a public service: bracing, restorative, and delivered without judgment - oh my aching head. What really seals it, though, is the staff--genuinely welcoming, on their game, and clearly proud of the place. The Crabapple Café isn't trying to be trendy or precious. It's just very good at what it does. A must-try in Squamish, especially if you believe breakfast should be comforting, filling, and a little bit healing. This is not our first time, and definitely not our last. The cafe has become our way station before heading up to Whistler. CHEERS!!!
