DENNIS COOK Roofing did a great job on my roof. I've never had to search for a roofing company but I heard about them from someone else so I contacted them and everything went well. My new roof looks great and they were also able to help me with the solar removal and re-installation, skylights and gutters. They do it all :-). Easy to communicate with. Office staff were always available, kept in touch with me, kept me informed throughout the project and responded quickly to any questions I had. I'm happy and I'm sure you'll be to if you choose them to do your roof. Thanks DCR! read more

Long story...Basically, the deluge of 22 January caused an unknown, but long there roof leak to seep into my ceiling. Yes, it was raining inside my home! I had a totally wonderful advocate helping me with this journey. He was impressed with Sean's expertise and said let's go with Cook. I'm so glad I did. The team was respectful, efficient, thorough, professional. My champion came every day to check out the progress. He gave a positive report each time. And his conclusion, therefore mine, is that this roofing job was very well done! Thanks so much!!! read more

Terry and his crew arrived on time. They were thorough, did great work with quality materials. Thanks for the hard work.

I highly recommend Dennis Cook Roofing. I was seriously dreading needing this work but honestly, the entire process was seamless, professional, and stress-free. A special shout-out goes to Terry Wilson, who conducted the initial evaluation and provided the bid. Terry was incredibly knowledgeable, thorough, and transparent, taking the time to explain every detail of the project and answer all of my questions with patience. And I had A LOT of question. Lol. The bid itself was competitive and detailed, showing that they truly care about their customers and take pride in their work. Once the project began, the crew was punctual, efficient. And I VERY much appreciated how good of a job they did cleaning up. I actually think they left my yard cleaner than it was when they started. And most importantly, they did an excellent job. The quality of the workmanship is outstanding and my roof looks fantastic. I am so happy I made the choice to go with them. read more

Adam and his crew did a fantastic job on my roof. Everything was very timely and they kept the job site very clean, taking extra care that there were no rogue nails. They were also able to repair several boards that had termite damage and painted them to match the rest of the house...seamless! I appreciate the communication and keeping me informed with every step. Highly recommend them if you were looking for a roofing company! read more

A professional crew from start to finish! Thanks for the excellent workmanship, service and mindfulness. The crew showed up on time, worked hard in the boiling summer sun and cleaned up every day before they left (our neighbors were especially appreciative of this). We've used their services for 2 homes now, one a flat Spanish roof with red tiles in front and now our current pitched Victorian roof. We wouldn't call anyone else for roofing in San Diego! read more

We called Kellen Cole after the heavy rain caused a leak in the garage. He came out quickly and assessed the situation. He created a plan to reconfigure the roofline for maximum drainage and no more leaks. The installers were professional and efficient and the price was competitive. We used this company on our rental 6 years ago. I would definitely call them again and ask for Kellen. He went out of his way to ensure we were satisfied. read more

Cook Roofing was recommended by a colleague, so after the rains reminded me that my roof still leaked, I set up a consultation...Terry showed up the next day, did his appraisal and set up a fix date. To my surprise, his team showed up almost 2 weeks before that date! Why? Because another round of rain was due and they wanted to get the work done beforehand! Who DOES that? Well, if that alone wasn't enough to earn 5 stars, their excellent patch job proved the quality of their work. Oh, and for a totally reasonable price as well. So if I should need a new roof before I die, at least I know who will do it! In the sketchy world of roofing contractors, Dennis Cook stands out. read more

Adam and his team did a great job installing and repairing our historic Spanish-revival style red tile roof. We had to prepare the roof for the solar install so it took a collaboration of efforts. We had little disruption while the process was being done. They also did work on our old casita that needed repairing. We are re-hiring them for a smaller efficiency project. Beautiful job and we highly recommend. read more

A good friend recommended Dennis Cook Roofing in El Cajon - and I only go by personal recommendations. Phil came out and gave me an estimate that was about $8000 less than two other major advertisers in the San Diego area. They all had the same warranty and used the same style and type of asphalt shingles. Their estimate was the final invoice plus previously discussed repairs (materials). They found numerous areas that needed repair and fixed them all. They suggested a solar roof vent which is what I was looking for, and they did a fabulous job of installing and cleaning up. They coordinated with the solar removal and reinstall team - which was a big worry for me, and all went together perfectly. No "bigger" company could have done it any better, any faster, or any cheaper. They have my highest recommendation. read more

Dennis Cook roofers installed a roof a year and a half ago on my new ADU and the recent heavy rains resulted in a small leak above the drain, that ran down my inside wall. I emailed them and got an appointment in 3 days and the worker fixed it in short order when he was here. I was pleased with the response and service. read more

This company replaced our old roof which was leaking. Phil Mast was our contact person who completely explained the process from start to finish. Upon inspection he determined we had some roof sheeting and water damaged fascia that would need replacing. All the work was completed on schedule, completely cleaned up and no hidden surprises. I would highly recommend this roofing company and our contact Phil Mast. read more

By far the best contractor experience we've had so far. I had five different companies come and bid the job for a new roof install and four of them had guys come out that looked like they never touched a shingle or held a hammer before. They put on a sales dog and pony show that almost made me laugh. The last thing I want to see from a roofer is a power point presentation, I get enough of those at work. Not to mention the presentations focused more about the owners of the company and how they started it than it did about the installers and the focus on roofs and details of the work. Terry from Dennis Cook came and actually did a bid for a roofing job. No dog, no pony, just a tape measure, samples of the product and a lot of knowledge (super nice guy too). As far as the work that was done, in one word, "flawless". Now details, the crew was fantastic. Worked quickly and hard. There was repair work that needed to be done on some of the structure that I already knew of and they spotted it right away. They also found some more and pointed it out to me and at no time did I feel like it was unnecessary additions. I noticed that the eve vents needed to be replaced and some other stuff I wanted done since they had the roof off and I didn't want to have to do later. I never had to remind them at anytime about what I needed done. They fixed crooked roof lines, vents, damaged wood, etc. Julio is an excellent foreman and the crew he had with him was top notch. I realize that this is a long review and I am adding much detail, but I truly think they deserve it because that is exactly what they did for us. They went over and beyond on detail, workmanship, courtesy, and clean up. They showed every day on time and left ZERO mess behind. Again ZERO mess LEFT behind, EVERY DAY. Now the cost: out of all five bids we got, they were the best price. Apparently dog and pony shows and power points are very expensive. Dennis Cook roofing will be my go-to roofer if they keep this up. Seriously, if I decide to build a chicken coop or a tree house, these guys will be putting the roof on it for me. Special thanks to: Terry, Julio, Jeff, Lee, Phil and the rest of the crew. Thanks so much!! Great work!! read more

I started the process of shopping around for a new roof and getting estimates in September 2023. It was an arduous and sometimes difficult process as every roofing contractor I contacted was backed up for 2 months or longer, committed to customers that they were already contracted with. When I inquired with Dennis Cook Roofing for an estimate, I got an immediate response and met with Kellen within a couple of days when it was convenient for me. Kellen showed up on time, was friendly and professional. He did an inspection of the existing roof condition, took some pictures, explained the process and answered all of my questions. He was patient with me and articulate in describing the features of the roof shingles, synthetic felt, metal drip edge, ventilation, ridge vents, galvanized flashings and product/workmanship guarantees. He also explained that if there was a need to replace any damaged or weathered plywood, fascia or shiplap, then that would be determined upon visual inspection by the foreman after the old roof was removed. This was good to know up front as replacement of the wood would add an additional expense that couldn't be determined until the wood was exposed. I went with Dennis Cook Roofing and the job was done on February 19, under the direction of Lee, the foreman for this project. This was a day when there was a very slight chance of rain in the forecast. When the day started and the first workers showed up early in the morning, I mentioned my concern that we might be getting rain. I spoke to Adam by phone who reassured me that they were aware of the weather forecast and that he was bringing in extra crew members to get the entire job done in one day. They were also prepared with tarps in case the rain transpired. The crew proceeded to tear off the old roof shingles and tar paper, r & r some damaged wood, paint the fascia and shiplap that was replaced, install the new synthetic felt, flashings and new shingles. After the job was done, they did a very thorough job of cleaning up any shingles, roof nails and other debris from around the perimeter of the house. It is a complete understatement that I was very impressed and pleased that this job was completed start to finish in one day! There are no leaks, issues or flaws in workmanship, and it never did rain that day. I would like to thank and recognize Kellen, Lee, Adam, Jazmine and every single hard working member of the amazing crew that did this job. It was truly amazing to watch my house get a new lease on life in just one day. I definitely recommend Dennis Cook Roofing and all of these amazing people for your roofing needs. read more

They did a terrific job replacing the roof on my house in La Jolla in October 2023. They were the most responsive firm during the bidding process and had a competitive price. During the project their crew were polite, clean, and worked fast. They communicated about project status at the end of every day. They found termite damage and they addressed it. At the end of the project they cleaned up well. They were honest and I never felt like they were trying to cheat me. The finished roof looks really terrific. Dennis Cook roofing is the best in the business! Adam, the owner, is honest, basically the friendliest person I've ever met, and at every step was very clearly trying to do right by us. I would recommend Dennis Cook roofing to absolutely anyone! read more

Postponed the job. Adam Cook was not around to receive calls, I have been waiting 3 weeks for a returned call. over charge for wood replacement with no consulting as per the contract. The strip off crew was very good, fast and clean, from there it went downhill fast. It has been two months and I can't get anyone to call me back to talk about the overbilling on the wood replacement. after the fact I have talked to other people that hade work from Dinnis Cook Roofing and they had the same complaint, they will not answer the phone. It is like the field foramens do not talk to the shop. So, NO I will not recommend them to do work for you! My opinion is until this is solved, I will keep calling. 92119 read more

After the rainy winter we needed a new roof. Kind of found Dennis Cook Roofing by accident as a neighbor had recommended his roofing company from a few years back and when I went to the address on the card the building was now owned by a different roofing company. I had a great conversation with Jazmine in the office and made an appointment for Phil Mast to come out and give us a quote. I had researched roofing prices through a couple friends and was aware of what the price might be and it was in that ballpark. We arranged a date for the start of the job. The crew showed up bright and early, tore off the old roof, determined what repairs should be made, and just kept working all day. Phil suggested roof vents for heat and moisture relief in the attic and we also had the skylight replaced -- the new one was just put on today and is gorgeous and the kitchen is so bright! The covers for fans and other items were replaced and all painted to match the shingles. The crew was awesome -- answered all my questions. Phil would reply to my email questions almost immediately and even brought materials up for the repairs and answered more questions that I had. The crew couldn't have been nicer and seemed to enjoy their work. Chrystal provided me with an update at the end of each day stating the work accomplished and included pictures taken during the 2-day job. Roof looks beautiful and we can sit up on our deck, have Happy Hour and enjoy it. I have actually had someone ask for a roofing recommendation the other day and did not hesitate to provide their information! read more

Hire this contractor... As I said to Adam Cook at the end of the roofing project, this experience was undoubtedly the most professional performance by a business working on my home. Hiring contractors can be hit or miss:late arrivals, unexpected issues that raise a bid's price, poor workmanship, leaving expended materials-none of which happened when I hired Dennis Cook Roofing. Adam responded to my request for a roof leak inspection and quote immediately. We decided on higher-end shingles. His crew arrived on schedule and let me verify the materials. Finishing 1/2 the repair on Friday, the crew arrived a couple hours early Saturday, and then worked without interruption, quietly. There are no signs of spent nails, shingles or underlayment. The roof is just beautiful! read more

Working in the construction industry, we have many choices for our roofing projects. Adam and his team have always been responsive to our requests and competitive across the industry. When projects are awarded, they are completed on time, jobsites are clean, communication is superb and of course the finished product is great! We always look to Dennis Cook for projects and you should too. We have used Dennis Cook for numerous projects for our home. One great experience was associated with Solar Tube products. We have installed Solar Tube (6) in our home bring light into dark areas, such as our hallways, closets and bathrooms. The outcome was unreal and would recommend Solar Tube products for anyone's home. The project was completed quickly, the house was left clean and the new light is fantastic. read more

They built me a complete new CUSTOM mid-century modern roof that we are very happy about. It was a ton of work, and Dennis Cook Roofing, pulled it off, perfectly. There team was fast, and efficient. The end result actually impresses me a year later, to this day. They designed a roof to compliment our mid-century modern look and nailed it perfectly. They even welded in metal posts that look really stout, yet, beautiful at the same time. I recommend them. They are a nice family run business that are just pleasant, respectable, people. Had my new roof installed November 2019. Waited a bit to write this review just to make sure that everything turned out ok. I'm as happy today with my roof as I was the day they completed the work. I got a couple of quotes before reaching out to Dennis Cook roofing. The other contractors gave a me an estimate without even coming out to my property. Terry was the only one who actually came out, climbed a ladder, and took measurements of my roof. Even let me know about vented roof ridges that would help cool my attic. He gave me an excellent quote so I felt really comfortable moving forward with the project. Needless to say, this roofing company is top-notch! Terry, Phil, and work crew are great, Sina in the accounting office is awesome. I highly recommend Dennis Cook Roofing. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Never scheduled, just showed up and starting work on a vacant house. I was told it was complete and 6 weeks later it was not. Possibly finished the job, again without scheduling and on a vacant house. Received bill for double the amount of the quote I never signed. No one returned any calls, emails or texts, including owner. Have to have a different roofing company come and do the repairs. read more

Adam seemms like a great guy and knowledgeable. However, even after repeated messages I still never received an estimate for work. Very disappointed. I left a voice message about 1 month ago and never received a call back. I used this company a while back and my tile was coming off by the eves and at first it was nice they were going to fix it for free since i used their company in the past. And then i had a leak in another part of the roof and the estimate was very expensive. i asked if they could do some of the work but for less $. And it would have been nice since they came out 2x in 4 months that my tile could have been fixed since they were already there. I am very disappointed.
