Exceptional Work & Service! Th Resilient team's made my roof replacement an enjoyable experience!

Our roof was over 20 years old and was starting to leak in a couple of places. According to the news, San Diego is expected to be impacted by El Nino this winter so I began my search for a roofing company to replace our roof and avoid any water damage. I got estimates from three large roofing companies and Lee Hershey, the inspector from Resilient Roofing, was by far and away the best. She actually went up onto our roof to take pictures, videos, and measurements (which she double-checked) and went into our attic and garage to examine the underside of our roof. She also brought out samples and spent the time to help me pick out the perfect match of the Owens Corning shingles for our house. Because Resilient Roofing is a large company with multiple crews they were able to get our job scheduled almost immediately. The roofing team (Hector A., Hector L, Mauricio, Jose F, Roberto, Nambo and Elias) led by Elibert and with Arturo supervising and Jose V. in the office, worked extremely hard in the heat to do an excellent job on our roof, to get the work finished on time, and they did a very thorough cleanup as well. The new roof looks great and will protect our house from both heat and rain. 10 year workmanship warranty and 50 years Owens Corning warranty. I feel this company really has their act together. Everyone worked together as a team to get the job done, the workers were very skilled in what they were doing, and everyone was very friendly and considerate. When small problems came up this company had specialists available immediately for carpentry, gutter work, venting questions, etc. I can't recommend this company high enough and I'm so glad I went with them. Our lives have been turned upside down because of Seth Larson. The worst is I called CSLB regarding their REPEATED REFUSAL TO PULL A PERMIT. We want to list the house soon and we are truly concerned about a no-permit roof. Now I am quoting the CSLB rep "He broke the law. Please fill out the complaint form send it in ASAP. And sadly, you the homeowner may end up paying fines OR they may force you to pull it off and start over"... !!!!! What?! We are lay people that did not know WE could be punished also for the negligence of this roofing company! This is insanity. Who does this? All we wanted was a new roof. We are living a literal nightmare. NO sleep. NO fun. NO peace. All worries. And we're out $30,000 for a roof on a 925 sq ft home. Seth Larson, owner of this company, showed NO concern for our home, our investment or our pleas for help throughout this nightmare that started back in November 2024! He is NOW holding our warranty hostage, after we paid him $30,000, until we sign an NDA to include a non-disparagement clause. Really? That seems illegal. We are incredibly upset and have not slept in 3 nights now. Our health is now negatively affected. We are sick from stress. Shame on him. He uses bullying tactics and he threatened a lien on our home. He evidently thought we should pay him "on schedule" even though the work was defective, our property was damaged and it needed to be corrected. That was all communicated to him through his on-site workers numerous times. Just look at his other 1 star reviews. This is bully behavior. He allowed unlicensed contractors to work on our home UNSUPERVISED and many mistakes were made. He REFUSED to come to our home when we had real concerns over defective, substandard work. He NEVER once came by. He had unlicensed workers run the show here and he did NOT supervise. We asked him again a few days ago to please come by. He insisted the work was inspected by a licensed contractor. We knew some things didn't look right. So, we had another licensed roofer come over to do an inspection. Our new Ohagen ventilation system is a mess. Sloppy, incompetent work. It is essentially doing nothing for our home according to the inspection we just had by another licensed roofing contractor. And there is so much more, but Im too upset to continue now. I will post more at another time. If you care about your home, think twice! PS. He said he was going to look into our concerns awhile back and instead threatened a lien on our home over an innocent misunderstanding of a $1,600 balance out of a $30,000 total. When we learned of it, and figured out where we misunderstood WE PAID! And STILL he is withholding our warranty. I hope no one else ever has to experience what we are going through. FYI. Update- three years later and I had a leak at my chimney. (It was after hours and we just covered it with a tarp.) I called resilient and they came within a 2 days. The guy who came to inspect let me know that the reason for the leak was the brick on my chimney was deteriorating so that seal was breaking off. They did send someone a few days later who spent a few hours on the roof, taking off all the old seal on the chimney and replacing it. They also let me know a while back that the project manager I had had trouble with had been let go. And to be fair, the owner had tried to call me a few times after the whole debacle but I didn't really want to call him back after all was said and done. So increased my stars to 4 since their follow up, customer service and honoring their warranty was too notch when I dealt with them this time around. - update. Shortly after writing this review I did file a complaint with BBB. So Resilient roofing did finally have my rain gutter replaced. Even had a professional come out to repair it when their roofing staff put one up that leaked. According to BBB my complaint is showing as not addressed, because when BBB asked me if it had been fixed I said no, because at the time the gutter was still leaking. And apparently they never got back to the BBB to tell them they did finally repair it. They never did address the wooden beams that they originally stained too dark, and the. but never stained at all. Well we have a new roof and though it hasn't rained heavily yet, it doesn't seem to leak anymore. It looks good. The crew was polite, friendly and hard working. Took them 4-5 days to complete job. Why the three stars? The details. We have an open beam ceiling. They let me know day of tear up that it would be a bit messy, but it was extremely messy. There was dust, shingle mess, and tar all over the house. I was told that the next few days there wouldn't be much mess but I asked for a tarp to be put up in the bedroom anyway as that didn't seem likely and I didn't want to remake the entire bed every single night. Sure enough, though not as bad, the mess lasted the entire time they were there. We couldn't cook for days as stuff was constantly falling through the wood beams as they worked. That alone wouldn't lower stars, but they also had to replace some wooden beams that were over the living room. Just a bit on the side. I walked into the living room on the day they were cutting out the wood only to find pieces of wood and sawdust all over the floor and all over the desk and gaming computer. I shrieked and ran to get a blanket to cover the computer up. They heard me yell and then came in to put tarps up after the fact. Then they stained the wood to match the wood that was outside the house, only problem was the wood inside the house didn't match at all. I asked them if they could fix it so they did come and sand the interior wood down. So it's not stained too dark anymore it's just not stained at all . So we will have to go buy stain and stain it ourselves. Those two problems would still only bring me to 4 stars, but a few days (week?) after they completed the job my husband and I noticed that they had taken down a portion of the gutter in the back of the house and never put it back. In fact it is missing, gone, nowhere to be found. When I first reached out to the sales guy and project manager I received no reply. When the project manager came to my house to set up for the inspector, I showed him where the gutter that was left was just hanging there. He replied that he'd have to see if he had pictures and that it's possible he forgot to take pictures of the back of the house. I emailed a few days later. No response. It's been a week now. Still no response. As far as I'm concerned this is crappy customer service. The roof is not the only part of the job. Paying attention to details, making right on what you mess up, responding to customers is all part of the job. And if you can't do that, then you don't deserve 5 stars, IMO. We chose Resillient based on their professional sales pitch and claim that they were totally committed to detail and customer service. We now feel a bit like we were duped. read more

Negotiated our contract. We signed. We paid a deposit. Then one day later they cancelled it. No explanation. No reason. We called daily for a week to understand what they did. Begged for the owner to call us. Called Brad who sat at our kitchen table to sell us for an explanation. No one ever spoke to us. Terrible situation and set us back by weeks till we found a company that stands behind their written and signed contract. Be afraid. Be very afraid. I have to put one star. I can finally say I have found a roofing company that I can trust. I have had leaks from the roof every year for the past 3 years. Roofers that came over just weren't able to get the job done right such as replacing broken tiles and sealing the vents. There was no way for me to check unless I went up on the roof. This year, we decided to do a lift and relay with new underlayment. I called 6 different roofing companies based on their high yelp reviews with the mindset that I wouldn't be able to trust anyone. 4 roofing companies went up on the roof to check the problem while 2 companies did not. Resilient's consultant, Rob, was the ONLY one that asked to go inside the attic space. He performed a moisture test and took many photos showing me where the leak was from. He spent almost 3 hours with me including creating a video of my roof showing me where the issues were. He described everything he would do to fix the issues and answered every question I had. Even after that day, he continued to respond to my emails even late at night to make sure my questions were answered. The detailed description plus the service I received were the main reasons I decided to use their service. A few weeks later the solar crew came on the first day to remove the solar panels. Carlos Rojas and Juan Solarzano explained what they did and how the panels weren't installed correctly. They told me how they planned on installing them correctly at the end when the roof was done. The roofing crew came over the next couple of weeks. I don't know anything about roofing but based on what I saw, they paid attention to detail on every part of the project. They made sure the skylight area was done right by removing the skylight to investigate that area which previous roofers never did. All the tiles were placed next to each other with no gaps in between which I did not know my roof could look like that. When I gave a compliment to the crew, one of them said "Thank you. We want to make sure we don't need to come back again." I want to thank the crew by putting their names here. Hope I don't miss any. Estebar C, Elibert S, Jose M, Alex C, Pedro Leoardo, Juan S, and the superintendent, Jose Gonzales. Jose G communicated with me almost everyday by giving me updates and answering all my concerns by describing the work that was done. Also, the handyman, Hector, came at the end to fix all the issues caused by the project such as broken sprinkler lines and cleaned all the remaining items that were missed the last few weeks. From beginning to end, from top to bottom including the administrative staff, Kat, calling me daily to let me know the crew is coming, this company really works as a family and a team. They really put customers' concerns as a priority and make sure customers are 100% satisfied with everything. Their attention to detail is off the chart and they don't cut any corners. They are all very nice people and love to explain everything that was done. I am really glad I called Resilient. Now I know there is a rare roofing company that can be trusted. Resilient Roofing Review When it comes to Seth and the team at Resilient Roofing, I can't say enough! It's rare in this world of construction but I can say that they far exceeded every hope and expectation we had for our home. When we came to Resilient Roofing, a contractor had discovered some serious leaks in our roof, which resulted from a poor installation by the previous company. When he walked on our awning, it literally cracked through to the bottom and I was relieved he hadn't fallen through! (You can see the pictures). We were dismayed to say the least, and looking at several different very expensive quotes. Not only did Resilient Roofing give us an incredible deal, but they surpassed all our hopes for the quality of work, as well as the kindness, and professionalism of their entire team. They finished the entire job in two days, and left not so much is a nail on our driveway. Pristine work (see pictures)! From now on, when anyone needs any roofing work done, I am going to strongly push them towards Seth, and his team at Resilient Roofing. This is why their ratings are so consistently high. I can award 1 star, based solely on the first day of our project. The roof tear out crew arrived on time and the lead introduced himself before starting. They completed their work efficiently and on time. BAD THINGS: #1 Substandard deck repair including wood replacement, performed by a worker, falsely described as a carpenter. I confirmed this after he gave me his business card, which identified him as a Handyman. He admitted to me, that he hadn't actually completed testing for Calif Handyman license. Even if he had, the cost of the work performed for us, would exceeded Handyman scope of practice. Roofers were pulled off the roof, to pound nails into replacement beams and cross blocking pieces, splitting much of the new wood. #2 Resilient agreed to pull a permit for our new roof, which we were more than happy to pay for. Ultimately Resilient gave up on obtaining our permit. The company owner (Seth Larson) emailed me, stating that a permit was unnecessary, since our home was located in City La Mesa. I verified with the City Permit Dept, that our home is within City SD (Zone RS-1-7). #3 I was given several business cards from "superintendents" involved in our project. They all list License#247618, which is the company owner's. At this point I wonder if anyone working on our roof, even had a valid C-39? #4 O'Hagin vents incorrectly installed by Resilient, per independent licensed roofing company. #5 I requested several times for Mr Larson to visit our home and look into our concerns personally. This was denied by a "Superintendent", who had previously admitted, that he hadn't had active Contractor's License for 10 years. #6 Resilient withholding our Owens Corning manufacturer's warranty, unless we sign Release Agreement, containing NDA. Keep in mind our balance is paid in full. I can't forget something the Resilient salesman said to me. "You're going to pay a bit more, but you'll be happy with our work." The first part of the statement true, we paid north of $30,000 for 900 sq ft home. The second part couldn't be more wrong. Hopefully with help from the Better Business Bureau, State Contractors Licensing Board and others, we will have a good final outcome. read more

Resilient Roofing redid our 8000 sq ft roof and the result was not only beautifully done, but the roof has withstood the biggest rainful the last two years since its completion. No leaks at all especially in areas where the consistent terrible leak would happen despite repairs. Great presentation by their sales rep who won the contract from out of four companies sales presentations. The owner, Mr Larson, gave us a great price discount, in addition to the Sales agent discount. The project managers and supervisors Arturo and Jose were available at all times. Calls were easily returned by Amanda, the office manager and Kristine, the scheduler. I was given a free annual inspection and Jose Vera is a very reliable person to work with, as both Joses show up without fail. Resilient Roofing is the ultimate roofing company. They repaired a leak in my roof for a very reasonable cost and they did it in a few hours. They found the hidden source of my leak, took a photo of it and sent me a copy (since I couldn't climb onto the roof to satisfy my curiosity). They even re-sealed a nearby roof vent for free. I was taken to small claims court by the owner because I chose to use a different contractor to replace my roof. The other contractor was more expensive but offered more guarantees and repairs. The owner decided to sue me for 4,400$ for breach of contract for doing absolutely no work and we had not progressed to even picking out the colors of them. Seth has left a ton of voice mail messages, emails, and now has sent snail mail about my negative review. Stop. If we actually wanted to engage with you we would return your calls. My review is on my experience with your company, if people are badgered into changing their tune reviews would be pointless and entirely positive. I had a very negative experience with your company and this review is accurate. At this point I've removed wet patch slathered shingles, the poorly integrated boots, replaced shingles, and stopped the leaks myself. This is what I wanted your company to do, but I did it myself and while I don't have a new roof I do have zero leaks. Again we scheduled to have you out to look at leaks and roof penetrations, not tell us we need a whole new roof despite the only leaks being for those obviously poorly done plumbing boots (which you guys didn't even mention). What I did not call about was to have my actual request ignored and to receive a two hour song and dance about a new roof wherein your sales people misrepresented the shape of the roof in general by showing me "a piece of my roof" that in no way was representative of the whole (let alone any section I could find while up there actively searching for similar). Beware poor reviews of this company will lead to many contact attempts (Easily over 5 at this point?), and some of the changed reviews you're seeing may well be due to this. read more

I am honestly bewildered as to what happened. Our experience with this company has been very disappointing. We highly recommend avoiding them. (After this review our issues were eventually addressed) We have worked with many contractors over the years. When I met my husband ten years ago he was very successfully buying, remodeling, and selling homes by the dozens. He is also a Certified Real Property Appraiser and Real Estate Broker. He has inspected and analyzed hundreds of homes per year for 18 years.  So with much real estate experience and having worked with every type and quality of contractor when it came to putting a new roof on our home we know cheaper isn't always better. Although there are many other less expensive, high integrity roofers in San Diego that we could have called, we paid more than we knew we should because we wanted the peace of mind, good work, and integrity from a company we thought we could trust, Resilient Roofing. In this instance we went with a recommendation from a friend instead of our normal route which would include exhaustive research and getting many bids. Our mistake. Some touch points with the company were great early on, but the execution and quality of some of the work, then response to said work has been terrible. I have read the other great reviews here on Yelp and I'm confused as to why our experience is so different. Maybe it's because we're just a little house in La Mesa? Whatever the reason we've been left with crooked ridge caps and an almost indescribably bad fascia repair on the front of the house (see photos). Then after voicing our concerns we were eventually told "it will pass code" so we will not do the repairs. So now after paying them $13k for our 1,100 Sq.Ft. house, we will have to pay someone else to come and fix their terrible workmanship. Per the contract cover letter, the owner is obsessed with attention to detail and exceeding expectations, but we have not received that attention. We were told that higher ups would be consulted in the next meeting to decide how to fix the problems, so we assume they had the final word. We feel duped and disappointed. We are out $13k + solar removal and replace costs, left with a mostly awful experience, and a very poorly executed front facing fascia replacement and wonky ridge caps. And for us, this shoddy work puts the quality of the entire project into question. Funny thing is, as we recall, we were even told by their own "Roof Tech", Tanner, who I believe is related to the owner, that the quality of the workmanship was poor and "not something we want to put our name on". Okay, what happened? Again, I am just befuddled as to why they wouldn't just fix the already acknowledged poorly done work. Another funny tidbit is that even the inspector from the city that came out to sign off on the work said, "What's the big deal, why don't they just fix it?" Thank you, we are asking ourselves that exact question. We get it, we're not unreasonable people, bad work happens, not a problem. Leaving that bad work uncorrected, that's the problem. Saying, "have the painter fix it" is unacceptable. Other demoralizing experiences included having the skylight to our bathroom being taken off while I was in there and instead of looking away he watched me get up and out of the bathroom. I felt humiliated. Then hearing the same foreman using foul language that seemed to be directed at us after we had tried to point out the questionable workmanship. All just very ugly stuff that no homeowner/customer should experience. Doing a tear-off and new roof is a big deal and expensive. It's so important to be confident with the company you choose. So, fool me once... We have a house and a four unit apartment complex in Pacific Beach in need of tear off and re-roofing and sadly we cannot say that we have found our go-to roofer that we would always use and recommend to friends, family, or clients. It's a shame, we feel that Resilient Roofing did not deliver on their own mission statement. Oh, and one more thing, their contract is extremely aggressive. Every aspect of their contract is to guarantee their payment without any protections for the customer. There were no performance requirements in the contract for Resilient Roofing, and absolutely no way out of the contract by the customer.  They would get paid regardless of any extraordinary events, or poor performance on their part. My husband was able to negotiate the contract to ensure performance on their part, and non-penalty to us, the customer, if a third party (Solar company) were to delay the project. They also stipulate in their contract that they may assign the work to others... That is not good. read more

From beginning to end, their service was impeccable! I just moved into my place in Clairemont and I had a hole in my roof- so I definitely needed a new one. I got a few quotes and decided to call Resilient based off of my realtor's suggestion. I actually got a hold of the owner, Seth, and he was SUPER thorough and walked me through everything. How long the project would take, how much mess there would be, the difference in shingles, the Low E Thermal lining, and the difference it would make on my home, etc. I have to admit, they weren't the least expensive option, but they also weren't the most costly. I would say they were right in the middle. However, what made them stand out was their communication, their outstanding work, and the reputation they want to up hold. I appreciated Seth's communication throughout and my roof look great! I was able to get "cool" shingles and added the Low E Thermal lining to help with that Clairemont heat, and so far so good! They also took out a ugly pole that was sticking out of my roof, and went above and beyond to rectify a tiny bit of damage to my ceiling (that would have happened with any roofing company). Thanks for everything guys! I appreciate it! The one thing I would say is to cover everything with that plastic they provide. Re-roofing is more messy than anticipated. read more
