I've been going to Demure Nails and spa since last November when I just happened upon it, walking down to buy Mart from Safeway. It had been another nail salon that was kind of grungy and old. Rose took it over as the owner, and made it spotlessly, clean and so well. She runs her little ship like a tight game. My nail tech is Anna. I adore her. She is so gentle and sweet and fast and knows what she's doing. She is especially gentle when she does a pedicure. I truly appreciate that being a senior with sensitive feet. Almost two weeks later it's still infected. I got my eyebrows waxed and got little bumps after this has never happened anywhere else. Usually salons apply something to eyebrows after waxing. A Negative!!!! I have been to several places in the area and it seems that nails don't even last a week. Just recently went to Tiffany Nail Salon on 185th and horrible. I showed her what I wanted and got another...She kept telling me the blue would show up but it hasn't. She told me to come back and she fix them but I didn't have time too I had work and kids. After a week they started popping off....I didn't want to go back for a discount (she won't give me a refund). I told her I wanted at least half of my money back and she told me it was my fault i couldn't come back sooner I explain they should have been done right the first time and it was hard cause of work and I got kids. We've been going here for over two years. My wife is in a wheelchair and paralyzed on her right side. We would go in and pay the full price to have her one hand done and trim. Not an issue now all of a sudden they're rude overpriced and charging way to much. when I questioned why was it so expensive this time when she didn't even do the full pedicure and didn't finish her hand, she started yelling and screaming, saying the prices and they keep changing. They don't use disposable plastic covers for the foot spa water bowls. They're bare. The reuse the tools including the foam toe separators. I witnessed a pair come of someone's feet and back into the supply cart. Its not sanitary. $25 for basic pedicure. Have come here over the years as it is convenient on my way home from work. Like other reviewers have stated, the service has gone downhill. Severely. They reuse their tools without cleaning/sanitizing, pressure to have more services and are hurried/overbooked. This visit they had me put my feet in water without checking the temp and scalded me. Then gave me the most aggressive pedicure I've ever had, completely ignoring my flinching During the massage the lady moved the chair up so much that if I had a penis, I could've licked it. I'm about 6' tall, so it is obviously uncomfortable for me to be in this position. When I moved it back so that I could take the pressure off my internal organs, she was visibly annoyed. The chair massager was a consistent, welcome performer. The polish job is ok-she only put separators on one foot for some reason. The only real joy was knowing that my feet were so bad that the lady really had to work to make them look like human feet again. At that she did great. I decided to treat myself and paid $150 for a manicure, pedicure, and facial. It was a huge mistake. The pedicure was ok, but Tiffany made two fingers bleed giving me my manicure, my cuticle got infected, and my left hand didn't even match my right! When I brought this to her attention, her response was "That's ok, it's good enough." On top of that, the dip on my nails began chipping off within 2 days. She didn't wash her hands or use gloves for the facial, and used some metal contraption that was supposed to improve my skin, but I felt it did nothing make a bunch of noise. She dug her ungloved nails in my face to get a blackhead, and it was very painful. I have had many facials before, and have never experienced pain or had someone so unhygienic. She even stopped repeatedly in the middle of my "facial" to wax other clients right next to me in the same room while I was lying on the table unmasked during a pandemic. I will never be back there and learned a very expensive lesson that day. Horrible service, horrible outcome, unhygienic, and painful. Don't waste your money as I did. read more

The appointment started out okay but quickly went downhill. I had an appointment for 4 mani/pedis at 3:30. Initially they were very kind and helpful but as soon as other people came into the salon they just walked away and worked on other people. Though we all started at the same time, some of us were finishing before they even started on the manis for two in our party. They clearly started cutting corners. For one of our group they did not do lotion, massage or any oils and whatnot. They shoved her cuticles back while they were dry. She was literally tearing up because it hurt so much. This is by far the most disgusting, unsanitary, unhygienic nail care establishment I have ever been to. My visit proceeded as follows: I came in with my mother for the standard $18 pedicure on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't too full, there was still three seats open and no wait. My mother was helped almost immediately, but I sat with my feet in the hot water for about 15 minutes waiting for somebody to start on my nails. When I was finally helped, it was by a woman with long, pointy fingernails who didn't put on gloves when she began working on my feet. She kept switching between working on my toenails and helping another woman with her finger nails, which was certainly not a sanitary practice, especially not without gloves. She clipped my toes as fast as she could, almost cutting me, and didn't bother to look up, much less say hello. The technician's un-gloved fingernails dug into my skin, which was not by any means comfortable. I watched as she proceeded to grab a USED foot scrubber and attempt to use it on my feet. I stopped her, asking if I could get a new one. She said that I could buy one for $10, but it didn't come in the regular foot sanitation kit. I was appalled, it is in violation of Oregon State law to reuse foot scrubbers, or any other disposable product on people's feet. I told her that, which she brushed off. So I just told her to skip the scrubbing part and just start painting my nails. I cringed as she grabbed the same nail clippers that she used on me and begin using them on the lady next to me without sanitizing them. I can't imagine how many other people's nails she'd cut using those clippers without bothering to clean them. Just before painting my nails, she filed my nails. I noticed she used the file that was used on my mother without asking me, which I didn't mind, but I decided to ask her who's nail file it was. She said she didn't know. So that means she just grabbed whatever nail file she saw lying around and began using it on my feet. Luckily I had observed that it was indeed my mother's and nothing to be worried about, but just imagine how disgusting it would have been if she had just picked up a strangers and started using it. She painted my nails hurriedly and kept getting up and doing things between coats of polish. When she finished she said nothing and just walked away to help somebody else. This place is dangerously unsanitary and poses a real threat to patrons. I would encourage anybody looking for a pedicure to just pay the extra money and go to somewhere with better sanitary conditions, it will save you hundreds in medical bills from an infection in the end! read more

Just a heads up dooooo not go to Tiffany's nails off 185th. I literally had the most painful manicure of my entire life. Tattoos literally were less painful than this. they did a horrible job and my nails immediately started chipping. That and when they took off my old nails i would say about 10 different spots on my nails she filed down to my bare skin on my fingernail taking the old dip off. It was so painful i should have got up and left but I was too embarrassed to. I demanded a refund but she refused..... I work in dental and I noticed none of their instruments were in sterilized bags. This lady is super shady. Yeah her employee may have been new working on me but I'm sorry if you're not trained enough to work on clients and are hurting them and damaging their nails you should practice on your friends more before working on paying clients. Such a horrible experience!! Tiffany messed up my nails the first time and I had to come back in to get them fixed. I have only had to nails done a couple times so I didnt know what to ask for when I went in. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and asked if it was the powder dip or shellac...I wasn't sure. This place was horrible. When you can't tell your customers up front your charging and all you want to do is upsell them, you aren't worth my time. I just came back from getting a mani/pedi, thinking I would spend around $35 before tip, and walked out being charged $81, and I did not tip. I brought my own polish colors in for my manicure, and picked a different color off the wall for my pedicure. She did not use any of them. She instead insisted I get gel polish because it was better and she picked out the colors, neither of which was what I wanted. When I asked at the end why it was $81, she said "oh, shellac gel polish is $10." There is supposed to be a price break for having both done at once. I believe I was charged for both separately, and even that didn't add up. It was 3 years since my last pedicure, and I thought it would be nice to treat myself. Instead, I am mad at myself for spending more money that I really had to do this. I will never go back. I will also be contacting the health department, as there were several violations I witnessed while there. read more

They generally do a good job, but you have to be careful. There a few that are a bit sloppy. I like what they did the first time I went in. The second time they were busy and one of my nails had lines. I told them and they said "we fix it next time," not good customer service. I came here for a gel mani one Friday afternoon. The place was absolutely jam packed but she said I could get my nails done in a few. What I didn't know was that she would be doing my nails and someone else's nails at the same time. Super weird. Since she was rushing to do both of our nails, she was not careful or paying as much attention as she should have been. She took one of the drimmel nail files to my nails and shaved off- im not kidding- like more than half of the thickness of my fingernails. These are virgin fingers, folks. No gel mani coming off, no need to break out power tools. She tried to shape them after shaving off most of my nails but they were obviously thin at this point. Also, she was still splitting her time with me and someone else. I pointed out the shapes were terribly uneven and she said well yeah, your nails are weak. In my mind I yelled THEY'RE WEAK BECAUSE YOU JUST SANDED THEM ALL OFF! Anyway, I kept my mouth shut and just wanted to gtf outta there. She rushed the gel, bubbles were on top of a few nails. Gel was on the skin around my fingers. She shaped them more after the gel was put on but she spent so much time filing the sides of my nails it rubbed the skin raw and broke some nail off. Fingernails down to the quick. Like what the actual hell...I got the mani removed somewhere else a few days later and oh my god my nails are an actual disaster underneath. Thin, rough, half broken. The worst esthetician experience I have EVER had! Prior to the wax, the workers were making fun of each other! Tiffany herself waxed my lip and chin. The wax was too hot, the method of first tongue depressor the too-hot wax on my face, roughly pushing the paper onto my skin and then ripping the paper off of my sensitive lip and chin was horrible. When all was said and done (5 minutes if it was that!) she hurriedly talc powdered those areas. When I asked about soothing gel she replied: "some people allergic, I have it if you want". At this point, I was astounded by the lack of customer service and replied nope. Then to make matters worse the cashier asked if I wanted to use the ATM instead of my card oh NO WAY! Then the cashier asked if I wanted to include a tip, no, no, and no. I will not go back to this place, consumer beware. read more

Review is for pedicure services only. A friend of mine gets her nails done here on the regular and they always look great, for what that's worth. Pros: open on Labor Day when I really wanted a pedicure. Great massage chairs. Excellent foot massage. Cons: the spa pedicure, which is $$ level #3 of the 4 pedicures they offer, left me with rough scratchy heels and polish around my nails. The woman next to me had their most basic pedicure, was there for the same amount of time, and her feet looked great. Cool water in the tub -- left alone to soak for 20 min. Much multi-tasking was happening, frankly a little too much. From into the chair to out of the chair was 80 minutes. Get the basic pedicure, which is I think $18 -- no need to get fancier than that. Otherwise, I think you can find a much better pedicure a stone's throw in any given direction, as this does seem to be the land of the strip mall nail shop. read more

I was in town for "pleasure" and after a week of vacation my nails were driving me crazy. I stopped in for a manicure and was very happy here. The ladies were extremely nice yet mellow, the patrons were also pleasant. The establishment had nice music, soothing decor, bathroom was available and clean, and, best of all, there was NO RUSH to "pick a color" and "get started" which is refreshing. Because I was visiting my old neighborhood and did not have a hotel I had to bring my small, extremely well behaved dog. The only reason you would notice him is because he is very pretty. He has been raised to be as well behaved as a service dog (does not bark, does not move around, is straight up amazing). Shall I really explain the next part? :sigh: I guess the fumes got to him and with my nails still "wet" he threw up on me. Talk about seriously embarrassing. I know people say "he has NEVER done that before" -- but REALLY -- he has NEVER done that before.....at least not in public. He was on a leash in my lap but my nails were "wet" so I could not even go outside real quick. All I could do is control the outcome. OMG. But the ladies were GREAT about it. They helped me stabilize the situation with paper towels and we got the job done. I tipped my technician $15 on a $25 shellac manicure and left to change my clothes! Fortunately I was traveling in my well packed car and had clothes, "wet wipes", towels, water....everything I needed to clean up. Then we went to the best dog park ever 4-5 blocks away (Hazeldale Dog Park, a volunteer/donation based park) and my dog was back to his old self rip roaring all over the park. I do not think my dog will be sitting on my lap for any more manicures! read more

Treated myself & my aunt to mani/pedis for my graduation. This was the first and last time I'll ever visit this place. Very rude, neither nail tech talked at all, just pointed and pushed. Poor selection of cheap polishes. This was on a Saturday afternoon and by Sunday evening my polish was chipped horribly and I did no housework or dishes, in fact nothing at all to chip my nails. My tech couldn't even be bothered to put a fan or drying light on my hands. When she finished my pedicure, she shoved my sandals on my feet without removing the toe separators! The worst part, while waiting for my nails to dry, I watched one of the techs take a set of tools to the sink and rinse them with WATER and take them back out to a new customer!
