I'm actually not a bagel guy, nor do I ever think about them when it comes to grabbing a quick bite somewhere but this was a perfect opportunity to try it again. There was an assortment of bagels, and I got half of an everything bagel and - the one that several of my coworkers highly recommended - the rosemary bagel. Both go well with cream cheese. - The everything bagel was pretty standard; I could taste the garlic and sesame seeds throughout. Garlic was quite powerful on this one though, and I almost thought of garlic bread until I remembered bagels are harder to chew on. - My favorite was the rosemary bagel, just like my coworkers. I could taste the herbs clearly on this one; it was aromatic yet a little bitter. It was balanced with the saltiness already present on the bagel. Since I didn't go to their physical location - which looks like quite a walk from Georgetown - I have yet to see the inside of this place. Having some of their bagels makes me wanna go check it out someday!

I just ordered a half dozen of bagels this time but would like to sit a bit next time. Cute place in the neighborhood. Everything Bagel was kind of on the darker side and I was worried it might be whole wheat or something.... Just baked a bit darker than my preference. Got them home and they were crusty with a good chew. Will be back again next time I'm in Georgetown or Beacon Hill.

Parking is usually very tough so plan accordingly - fresh food, hot food, well stocked. They do seasonal items too which I really like. - they've started hosting small food truck events. Tres sandwich truck is also available sometimes. - friendly staff and always nice, inviting and accommodating! Very well trained. - Store is small but always clean and well maintained. You can get grocery items too. - minimal frozen section CONS: - they've increased the prices on everything without any increase in portion! Since the children took over, they've hiked up prices twice within a year for, what I've learned from folks, due to "wanting more profit margin." These people are greedy and charging restaurant rates for grocery story sushi and food which is despicable and makes zero sense. - the new owners did an Asian food trucks event inside their already tiny parking lot. I feel like they are doing everything hoping something sticks. Why crowd such a small parking lot? I went to check them out but the prices were atrocious so i left. The simple mom and shop vibe is now gone thanks to these nonsense price increases that are just for profit. I hope the old owners return so we can get the mom and pop shop feel back and friendlier prices. Maruta Shoten has lost its identity and I cannot call them affordable or a mom and pop shop anymore. I'm very disappointed and hope common sense comes back to these managers and they go back to what the prices were.

I had the ham and cheese raclette and it was sooo good, perfectly melty with the bacon onion jam adding just the right touch of sweetness and depth. Service was fast and friendly, which made the experience even better. It does get busy on weekends, so definitely try to go early if you want to grab a good seat. I will say I wasn't a fan of the matcha, it tasted chalky and the powder didn't seem to be the best quality. Hopefully they can improve this in the future because everything else was such a hit!

I think there were less than 15 tables so it seemed strange that it would take that long but decided to try it anyway. The setting for this cafe is pretty nice so we were anticipating an equally good experience with service and food. The food took 1 hour and 20 minutes from when we places our order to when it arrived.. the server was very nice and offered free drinks but at that point we wanted to just have our meal and leave. It was even more disappointing when we tasted the food and found it mediocre. The crepe we ordered was undercooked on the inside. We probably could have gone grocery shopping and whipped this up for less time and money. The prices are pretty high considering that they're serving breakfast food. We really wanted to like this place :(

I took my friend here to eat with me during the end hours of the Georgetown Carnival around 8:30pm…read moreafter hearing my friends tried here earlier in the day and vehemently recommending it to me. For it being less than half an hour before closing, it was packed inside, with two sections of seating for various group sizes, and a casually loud interior with a counter full of water jugs and glass cups in front of a nice plant backdrop with the name of this place in lights. Menu serves a ton of Asian fusion dishes along with some regular entrees and a ton of cocktails and wine. From my sis's recommendation when she went, I got myself the banh mi smash burger after deciding between that and the Pho-rench dip my brother-in-law had. My friend got himself the La Vong fish sandwich, which I didn't get to try though we both did split an order of honey sriracha Brussel sprouts. - For the banh mi smash burger, think of ALL the essential ingredients of a standard banh mi sandwich; then put in a regular beef patty, throw in lemongrass beef as the other meat and add provolone cheese as a complement to the pate-mayo spread. That's what this is in a nutshell, and it tastes exactly like a banh mi sandwich as a result, only in burger form. This was an absolute hit and win for me; beef patty was juicy, condiments were fresh, lemongrass beef was equally as juicy, and the side of fries made this a very filling dish! - I normally don't like Brussel sprouts because of their similar taste profile to asparagus, but I ate a ton of the honey sriracha Brussel sprouts from here. It's sweet and tangy, both of which mask the oddly earthy and bitter tones of regular Brussel sprouts. They're also roasted which further gets rid of that bitter taste I don't enjoy. We rushed a little eating since they were close to closing but we loved everything we got here! I should start keeping a list of places like this one for places I need to make a second and even third visit to for their other dishes.

In the back there is a huge mural of Dolly Parton, Anthony Bourdain, and a tiny Bob Ross in the style of American Gothic. The walls are covered with trinkets from the 80s and 90s like Homies and California Raisin figurines and KISS Pez dispensers. The food: Smashwich - A really good breakfast sandwich. The hash browns give it some added crunch that is surprising but welcome. Chicken in a Biscuit - The biscuit and chicken taste great. It's a bit hard to eat because of how large of a bite it is and how firm the components are. Vanilla Cream Shokupan Doughnut - The donut portion is tasty and there is a ton of whipped cream on this. The cream is quite heavy though and leaves a fatty mouthfeel. Wish this was a lighter cream that's fresh filled into the pastry, but that's another prep step before serving. Overall, really fun place in terms of the decor, music and interesting twists on food. Oodles of nostalgia is always a positive in my book. What immediately caught our attention (for obvious reasons) was the bold sign: LIVE KING CRAB. We walked in and were instantly impressed. Large water tanks filled with live Dungeness crab and live king crab, crystal-clear water, and absolutely no fishy smell--always an excellent sign. The space feels more like a clean, well-run warehouse set up for both wholesale and retail, not a typical seafood market. A gentleman working there quickly came over and started chatting with us about crab. Super knowledgeable and friendly. They offer a wide selection: live, fresh, and frozen crab, Japanese scallops, fish, and a variety of shellfish. We considered the live king crab, but it was honestly too big for the two of us to handle in a hotel kitchen--and definitely would've been a splurge. So, plan B: I called my sister-in-law to see if she'd like some frozen king crab legs. She said yes immediately. The gentleman showed us the frozen options, and the king crab legs were long, meaty, and impressive--similar in size to what Costco carries, but priced better. We ended up negotiating a great deal and purchased a box of their Party Pack King Jumbo Crab Legs for her. Later that evening, she surprised her daughter with a king crab birthday dinner, and they reported the legs were super meaty and absolutely delicious. Safe to say, we'll definitely keep Seattle Seafood Center in mind for future seafood splurges. If you love high-quality seafood and especially crab, this place is worth a stop--even if it's an unplanned one.
