Have been here twice, both times the cashier who I believe is the owner has been very rude to me. Most recently, I bought a 6 pack of soda and without ringing up the total, he barks, "do you have cash?" and then charges a 50 cent card fee without asking. read more

I don't think they're any sort of deli anymore, but they have a good assortment of beer and wine and some basic groceries and snacks. More importantly, they are a nice local shop for these basics, and I'm always welcomed with a smile. We don't get enough of that these days. read more

All of these negative reviews are ridiculous. What you yuppies fail to realize is this is a convenience store and the prices reflect just that your convenience. You don't have to leave the neighborhood to find what you need or want. Every staff member including the owner will greet you with a smile and respect that everyone deserves. I highly recommend this spot if you don't want to drive down to Ballard for anything you might need. If it's not there and you ask for it, it will be there on the next delivery. I've seen my share of convenience stores/bodegas and this one is awesome! Their beer/wine selection is wonderful (they had Pliny when no one else did). And the owner knows his selection well. They also seem to have exactly what I need in the middle of a cooking crisis. Their ice cream selection is awesome. You can get a cheap ice cream sandwich or treat yourself to the latest Ben and Jerry's flavor. And the things I buy never have dust on them. It's all you can ask for. read more

Not a bad stop if you need some good wines or a fine 22oz. Nice selection of 22's and sixers, most I have seen in such a small place. Good wine selection also. The only hang up is that its not much of a "Delicatessen." More an upscale 7-11, with some assortments of frozen foods and fridge sandwiches. Location is nice too - across from some fantastic food options. So grab a pizza from Zagi's and a sixer of a fine beer. What could be better? Update: I have since returned to give Saleh's a 5 star rating, they have won me over more and more since my initial 4 star review. They are super friendly and courteous merchants. Oh - and Zagi's is no more :(...but grab a pulled pork sandwich from Dante's BBQ (now in Zagi's space) and then a sixer from Saleh's - you wont be disappointed! read more

Close to home, decent hours..I think they close at 11 but wish they could stay open later :( oh well it is family-owned and they need a break I'm sure... Great selection of beer, wine, and tobacco..a little pricey but I don't mind paying extra for the selection and supporting a locally owned independent business. I remember the good ol' days where you COULD get a fresh hot deli sandwich here! Great beer selection at "reasonable" convenience prices. A totally decent neighborhood "corner store" where I would feel comfortable sending my kids if I had any which thank GOD I don't. The only "creep" factor here is the strange gardening guy who always seems to be hanging around even sometimes behind the counter. I see his jalopy parked there ALL THE TIME when I drive by and he's often inside just chillin' when I go in. WTF? The owner's staff is great. The owner tries hard to be fabulously charming and on most days he is. He has days where he's just not feeling it and I can totally understand. It's ok if we exchange money for stuff in the most efficient and superficially polite way possible. :-) Nice little corner market for drinks, chips, ice cream, etc. No porn (that I've noticed...simply mentioning for informational purposes) and no produce (which would be fabulous but Cas Cioppos/Fresh Fish Market kitty-corner has some good stuff). They carry the "good" tortilla chips that even Safeway doesn't have. Yay! read more

So yeah, we had a bad experience there once, over a $16 dispute, but I've seen Saleh a bunch since and he's super nice to me; never yelled or made it awkward. Of course, I'm nice to him in return. North Ballard needed a place like this. Friendly staff, outdoor seating, reasonable prices. We usually go there for a growler refill. I've also seen families go there and enjoy ice cream after a summer bike outing. You can meet friends and enjoy a pint of beer in their outdoor seating and if you plan it right there might be a food truck. read more

As far as mini-marts go, I'm gonna give this place five stars. They have all the basics, and then some. Any store should carry staples (ketchup, canned chili, ramen, cleaning products, motor oil, etc.), and Saleh's does. They also have some common fresh vegetables, like potatoes, onions, and the like, which can be really nice. However, where they really shine is their beer selection. (They also have HUGE wine selection, but I don't know so much about that, so it's harder to comment.) I asked them once why they had such a huge selection, and they matter of factly said that it's their niche. They are a convenience store, and since there are ten thousand other convenience stores, they needed something to set them apart. They certainly succedded. Apart from a few specialty grocers like Central Market and Big Star Beers, Saleh's has the largest and quirkiest selection of beers that I've seen. It's my local go-to- place for them. And judging by the amount of people continually moving in and out of the place, I don't think I'm the only one! On top of this, the staff is generally very friendly. Sometimes they'll talk my ear off (in a good way), and sometimes they won't, but there's always a heartfelt thanks! read more

It's my beer store! Great selection and they've added taps and an outdoor seating area ala Chuck's, but more down home. Steve, the owner is a sweetheart and knows everybody. He runs a tight ship! You can usually find last minute or oops! I forgot it groceries too which is quite convenient (literally). They have Mexican ice creams too which are my favorite. Walkable and huge selection of wines and beers. Plus some frozen foods to cook if I'm being lazy. The people are nice as well.

I give this place 5 stars because the guys behind the counter are always friendly. When their freezer lost power last year they gave each kid that came in (word spread fast to the neighboring Loyal Heights Elementary) a free pint of ice cream! The folks at Saleh's are always helpful and stock the basics and then some. Check out their beer selection (how do they fit so many varieties into such a small space??) and their assortment of waters and other refreshments. Need wine? They'll probably have what you're looking for. Ice cream? They stock a wide variety of that too. I love that they're in the 'hood and open late. Late night runs to the store for that "forgotten something "are never a problem with Saleh's so close by. Parking is a breeze as their lot is huge consdiering the size of the store. read more

Me and my wife have been loyal customers here for over a decade now, and last night Saleh decided to SCREAM at my wife over a $16 charge that my bank held onto, for some reason, and rather than simply tells us what happened and ask us to look into it he demanded that she pay it immediately , then yelled at her some more. So he yelled at my wife, who just lost her mother a few months ago, and refused to take into account that we've never, ever owed him money and the fact that he knows that we are totally honest people who would have made it right immediately. He just lost two of his longest-serving customers over absolutely nothing, and we will make sure that nobody we know will never patronize his business again. read more

I asked some information about the area and the owner and cashier seemed very knowledgeable. It seemed as if they were brothers and they both were very professional and personable. These guys are great. I stopped in tonight and now they have 7 beers on draft. Sorry no pints......yet. Growler fills are $12 and all are Seattle micros. Georgetown, Two Beers, Fremont and Odin are definitely flowing. The cashier was very friendly and they even had sixers of Jolly Roger and it is only October! read more
