Chocolate with sprinkles
Peter D.

Burgers. Hot dogs. Ice cream. Picnic tables under trees to sit and eat. These are the things I want in a roadside stand. These are the things you'll get at Del's, and it's all of the highest quality to boot. We came by to get our kids some ice cream, and we were sucked in by the rest of the menu. There's a hot dog (the Farm Dog) that comes with cole slaw, bacon, roasted jalapenos and smokey mayo. In what world am I not supposed to order that (probably this world, where I'd just eaten lunch)? It was amazing. I should've gotten two, or at least added the El Camino burger which is the same stuff on a burger, with caramelized onions and avocado (next time). But we came for ice cream. My kids usually just want vanilla or chocolate ice cream with rainbow sprinkles, and they got that and we're happy. One got soft serve, and the older one who is learning about the world got Double Dutch chocolate and cookies and cream with her rainbow sprinkles (strong move). Personally, I wasn't even going to order ice cream originally, but the flavors sounded incredible. Lavender honey blueberry? Lemon poppyseed? Maple snickerdoodle? Colombian coffee? Cookies and cream (I realize this is a standard but it's the best standard)? Peanut butter cup? The wildest part is that they offer a tasting flight with your choice of SIX flavors for only $8. I can't express to you what an incredible deal this is. I actually feel bad about it. They are making all of this incredible ice cream at their farm in Red Hook nearby, and giving me six scoops of the best ice cream you can imagine for EIGHT DOLLARS?! I think that's around the price of a banana in Brooklyn (what could one banana cost, $10?), and this is some of the best ice cream I've ever had. We took a pint of the lemon poppyseed to go too, if that tells you anything. To the Del's people: 1. Thank you. Your place is awesome. 2. If you have to raise the price of the flight, I get it. I'm still coming back, and telling everyone about you. Your ice cream is the best.

The food and service was outstanding. Rhea was amazing. I love their shakes and hot dogs. I hope that it stays open through the winter. It is one of the gems of Rhinebeck. Support a local merchant that treats all its customers like family.

What great ice cream along with some of the crowd favorite eats to complete a full meal. We tried the tasting flight and boy was I glad to try each of the flavors! Just loved each spoon of the fresh ice cream. It did take some time for the order to ring up given the moving crowd but food was served hot and fresh.

A darn good looking hot dog for the kid.

There were so many good things. I wanted to try more. I settled on the rodeo smash burger. Yummy sweet bbq sauce and a pretty good patty. I've definitely had better but also had worse. It was a satisfying burger. Fries were tasty. A little bit salty but very good. We got the onion rings too. There was an uneven clunkiness in the batter that I just couldn't get past. The ice cream really is the star. We got a boozy pumpkin shake. It was decadent and divine. We also got to try some soft serve. I am of the school of thought that vanilla is not a flavor but this proves me wrong. I'll bet this place is hopping in the summer but easy In November. Fantastic service too. A couple missteps but they were quickly attended to. Also I was most impressed by the care in assembling the unicorn Sundae.

Very ICY vanilla cone. No flavor. Not creamy at all. Tossed it in the trash.

Re: Rhinebeck roadside ice cream stand This was very disappointing. Not like it use to be. First, the young man who prepared my cone put his fingers in it getting it out of the sprinkles and proceeded to think that was okay and gave it to me. He did not have a glove on that hand. Nope!!!! I requested a new one. The ice cream is no longer creamy. It is like a version of frozen ice and appears yellow. The chocolate was very very dark and the same - icy and NOT creamy at all. Very disappointed. Waste of $12 & change. Complete waste. There is no taste either. Very We will not chance a visit again. Tossed mine - not edible!

Great ice cream and burgers. All fresh from the farm. Service is also great and they answered my questions well. Glad to have found this place on my road trip with the ladies. Can't wait for the boozy milkshakes. Only ice cream stand I know with wine and beer options. My burger was frigging awesome. My first experience with a incredible flight of ice cream.

I've heard great things about this place so I stopped by after my adventure at Poet's Walk. I got an El Camino Burger, fries, and a lavender honey milkshake. Everything was incredible. I think I may go back tomorrow.

Rodeo burger, pint of fries and vanilla malt.

Forget the food, but the ice cream is to die for. Especially the pistachio. And fun to sit out back, corn hole and all, real summer vibes.

I have driven past this small cafe several times, and always wanted to check it out. I finally did…read moreyesterday, with my granddaughter. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. It is VERY small inside, I was expecting a bit more room. If you sit outside, it is backed up to a junkyard/car repair place which is not very quiet or pleasant. We ordered the veggie burger with fries, and a beef burger with fries. They will not allow you to sub a salad for the fries. I saw rave reviews about the house made veggie burger, but personally, I was not impressed, and thought it was bland. The burgers were big, and difficult to eat, so we had to cut them up. The fries are also large & house made, and were good. I ordered a tossed salad with chicken to go for my husband. Chicken was good, salad was basic (tomato, avocados and onions). To put this in perspective, the food was on the expensive side, so we expected more. The bakery items are delicious. All together, for the 3 meals, 3 drinks and 2 bakery items, it came to $110 (plus tip). This may be reasonable for some, I guess it depends on location. Rhinebeck does tend to be expensive. They seemed to be somewhat busy with to-go orders. I guess it's one of those places you just have to check out, and decide for yourself! It's not a place I plan to return to.

Very cozy and such an adorable spot. Love the fresh ingredients aspect that get sent in from far.read more

The atmosphere was calm, breezy, and had that laid-back summer night feel that makes you want to linger just a little longer. Food: 4.5/5 We kicked off with a couple of appetizers, and honestly, I was pleasantly surprised. The pigs in a blanket were way more elevated than your average bar snack--wrapped well, seasoned with everything bagel spice, and super flavorful. A fun and unexpected highlight. The real star of the apps though? The watermelon and burrata salad. Juicy, fresh, light--it was the exact kind of dish you want on a summer night. Refreshing and satisfying all at once. For my entrée, I ordered the shrimp scampi but asked to add salmon for an extra protein boost (which they happily did). My husband got the seared tuna, and I'll admit--major food envy. His plate looked stunning and well-balanced, and he was thoroughly impressed. Service: 5/5 Everyone was so kind here. The staff checked in regularly, didn't rush us, and made sure we had what we needed without being overbearing. They also didn't blink when I asked to customize my entrée a bit, which I really appreciated. It made the whole meal feel even more relaxed and accommodating. Overall: A lovely spot to close out our trip. The food had thoughtful touches, the river view was peaceful, and the service was excellent. I'd definitely return--especially on a warm evening when you're craving something light, fresh, and a little special.
