By far my favorite beach in South Florida. It's never too packed and the sands are clean and white. Parking is easy to find; I usually park on the street and pay for the meter. You could also rent the beach equipment and there are lifeguards on duty during normal hours. Fun fact: we were swimming in the warm and clear waters and saw two sharks. Everybody got out of the water except for a couple of brave souls. I wouldn't mess with sharks so I got out quick. It's a quiet place to lounge and sunbathe. If you're in south Florida I recommend checking this beach out! Bring some towels, sunscreen, umbrella, snacks, water, and a beach mat & you'll be golden for a few hours. It's also a great place to take a stroll or jog. Five stars because it is the prettiest beach in my opinion. Pro tip: During the summer, wear sandals on the sand or you will get blisters from it being too hot! read more

This in my mind is the best beach in South Florida. The sand is expansive. There are plenty of life guards. There are ample showers. There are places like Boston's to catch a bite to eat. The sand is fine and white. It gets pretty hot in the summertime, so make sure to wear flip flops or sandals. There isn't a charge to go to the beach, but it does cost to park. The new parking meters accept credit cards making it much easier. Prior to that, you had to have enough change to feed the meters all day. That was a pain in a neck. The city often has street festivals on Atlantic Boulevard such as the garlic festival, St. Patrick's Day and July 4th celebrations and the Art Festival. In fact, there is always so much going on that the locals complain. So far as places to stay. There is a Marriott right on the corner of Atlantic and A1A. There are several timeshares like the Dover House. I'm sure one could use AirBnb to find a private residence that is renting. Last but not least, the ocean is absolutely beautiful! Great beach and a spot for everyone. Central Delray Beach is a great spot if you enjoy being around other people. South End is a great spot for people to play volleyball and in the right day to catch some great wave breaks to surf or photograph. North Delray Beach is a bit more peaceful and a great place for a picnic. read more

So apparently as a single mom, myself and 11 year son can not throw a football on Delray beach. Are you flipping kidding me. So basically Delray beach is for old people as I work in Delray in the medical field giving of my service. I'm so tired of privilege entitled people in south Florida and shame on Delray Public beach for allowing this. Your pretty much saying kids are not allowed. Not sure if this is a fair review since I've only been here once. Today. I was extremely excited since I am from up North and have never seen white beaches and clear blue water. Unfortunately I still haven't. The beach was littered with sea debris and cigarette butts. I also couldn't enjoy myself at all because it was ridiculously windy which is obviously why the ocean wasn't real clear. My boyfriend and I couldn't get out more than 10ft without being shoved back towards the shore. Actually getting to the beach is extremely easy. Parking was easy to find and we had to walk all of 5 ft to get to a walkway. They also have showers right by the street for you to wash off. I'm going to try again later this week because I think I would have enjoyed myself a lot more if not for that damn wind. read more

Stress free life begins by walking the beach walk mornings or evenings after work. It's pure heaven! Delray is a gen on the coast. It's wonderful to stay a month and take all in! There's so much to do...basically a happy hour every night in town for food specials, lots of yoga, the beach, and overall a chill existence. Everyone should experience it sometime. You don't need to visit the main beach as there are others off to the side with better parking and you don't have to pay high prices = stay in an Airbnb. I love the beach in Delray but the bathrooms are totally outdated and disgusting. The Sandoway Lot bathroom looks like it is used by junkies in NYC in the 1970s. In the age of Coronavirus it is even more shocking and disgusting. To the City of Delray - aren't you embarrassed to have million dollar condos and all your tourists who have to use these bathrooms? Plus there is nowhere to change. This is shameful. I guess for $1.50 an hour this is what you get. Just disgusting. in Sanibel, beaches are more expensive but the facilities are clean and modern. I worry about disease if I have to use a bathroom. read more

Delray Beach is right off Atlantic Avenue and is a lovely beach with translucent turquoise waters and soft sand. There was some seaweed washed up on the shore but it wasn't a deal-breaker. The water temp was nice for mid May- just cool enough and just warm enough. They had a good bit of people including kids playing and families enjoying the beautiful day on the water. They had groups of friends and couples stretched out lounging across the sand sunbathing and relaxing. The amount of people wasn't overwhelming and we were able to easily claim our own little area to spread our stuff out. The parking to get to the beach can be a little challenging just look for an open meter. The location of this beach is superb due to its close proximity to Atlantic Ave which is walking distance. I love Atlantic Avenue with all the little shops and restaurants. Delray is a gem in the south Florida area. I love this seaside village. read more

Delray's known as "the village by the sea". Located in Palm Beach County, downtown Delray sort of reminds me of Naples, but it's probably less metropolitan than Naples. It's a small place with the feel of a town, rather than a city. The beaches are never crowded, and extend for miles and miles, the water is nice and blue and the sand is clean! The demographic is mostly 40s+, it's rare to spot people younger than that, and if you do spot them, they won't look like your typical 20s-30s stumbling around in stilettos a la South Beach, as people here wear jeans and shorts, somewhat like Key West minus the craziness of the Keys. There are a lot of events always going on, like the art festival, twilight festival, jazz festival, or the garlic festival, so that's one of the drawbacks if you're driving, as you'll most likely encounter heavy traffic unless you take some of the back roads to eventually hit A1A. Delray is home to some great restaurants, including one of my favorites, Bamboo Fire, and that alone is reason to make the trek. I'll be coming back in less than a month to join them for dinner, and I cannot wait. Delray also houses the Morikami Japanese Gardens and the Wakodahatchee Wetlands, two other favorite Florida attractions of mine. I have found some interesting attractions I have yet to visit, but there is a historic home by the water called the Sandoway House, the Cason Cottage Museum and there is also the Spady Museum, an African American museum for cultural heritage. A few retired NFL players live here, and speaking of celebrities...did you know that at one point, the actor Kevin James (King of Queens) was a notable resident of Delray? At least that's what Wikipedia's entry of "Delray Beach" claims. There are a lot of beautiful waterfront condos and houses, as well as mansions along A1A, so it makes for a nice sight-seeing drive as well -- you'll definitely feel like you left the metropolitan areas of Miami and Fort Lauderdale way behind. PS: What's with the "Smoke Mountain, Tennessee" photo in the Delray Beach gallery anyway? Talk about being random. read more

Love this beach. My family and I visited several days over Christmas 2018. It was very convenient having umbrellas and covered cabana-like lounge spaces. The costs were $15 per hour $50 for all day access. The attendants were very personable, and chatted us up and made us feel welcome. This was our first time to Delray Beach and we are in love. Beautiful waters, clean, unfortunately no pets beach (our Roscoe would've loved it) We will be back for sure! read more

Nice beach with plenty of access to food and drinks on A1A. Granted I must say I have only been to this beach at night, so I will have to return to write a review that would be more useful to those who would want to visit when most people go to the beach (in the daytime). As far as walking at night, it's a nice beach. For what little light I had to see by, I didn't see tons of trash out there. read more

Great stretch of beautiful sandy beach.I love to come here in the day to swim and fly our kite at night. As we stay a block from the beach it's easy access. I have noticed it can be a pain to park otherwise. I like walking down the foliage path and make the turn and WOW .Seeing the beach and the water and the sky all come together. Just a little north of Boca Raton, Delray Beach is a gorgeous strip. White sandy beaches with umbrellas and chairs available for rental. There are a couple of restaurants and bars nearby but they aren't right along the beach. There is a road leading inland with all the restaurants and shops. Parking is a little bit difficult in that it is metered parking along the road parallel to the beach. Make sure you bring your coins. Rate is $1.50 an hour. read more

The Delray Beach Historical Society is a small, but amazing gem located in Delray Beach on Swinton Avenue. It houses many of the city's old documents and photos, and hosts a few exhibits each year. Next door is the Cason Cottage Museum. Definitely worth a visit! read more

If you visit Delray don't bring your pet dog. The City commission just (may 2016) refused to pass a regulation allowing dogs in the beach for a few hours a day, a few days a week. If you bring them you'll get a $50 ticket. Stay away. read more

I would normally give Delray an A+ but lately it has gone to the dogs literally! If you are NOT an avid dog lover this is not the place for you. Delray is very dog friendly but when you go to any of the events you are bombarded by dogs. Green Market, restaurants etc. there are dogs everywhere. I personally do not want to be sitting next to a dog while I am eating. Dog dander, sneezing, fighting with other dogs is not what I want to contend with while I am having a meal. Dogs at sidewalk cafe's lay on the sidewalks where you have to literally walk around them. I am not a dog hater, I just don't like a pit bull coming up to me and licking my hand while I am tasting sauces. He is your dog, I don't know a thing about him. My friends and I used to come to Delray a lot but lately it is just too uncomfortable for us. It seems you are constantly having to be on the look out for a dog coming up behind you. Last year at the Delray Affair while people watching we counted 12 strollers in a short period of time and only 2 of them had children in them. Not everyone loves your dog as much as you do. read more
